This Dark Horse is the one to bet on.

Dark Horse Tasting Room is the place to taste Medici, Sineann and Ferraro Cellars Wines created by cult Oregon winemaker Peter Rosback.

The list for Sineann alone is staggering and a great indication of how prolific Rosback is, its a page deep and lines up about 30 different wines, confirming Rosback's reputation as the genius mad scientist of Oregon winemaking.

A $10 tasting fee can be applied torwards purchase (assuming you buy 2 or more bottles) making this tasting room one the best deals for its quality of wine in the area.  

The red wines tasted here are big, fruit forward with massive flavors and each of the labels has a very different personality.  

There are pinots to be enjoyed, but as the name Dark Horse suggests, big red is on offer and grapes sourced from the warmer Washington wine country support that endeavor.  The winemaker employs the use of a vino-lock, instead of a cork, which is  an engineered glass cork that is a cool contraption that apparently keeps oxygen (and importantly, the cork) out of your wine.

The women staffing the tasting room, Hope, was friendly, knowledgable, low key, and made the whole experience fun and informative.

A great stop on any trip through Willamette Valley.
