Was surprised to see a Thai restaraunt in Whitinsville. Have been several times now, and the food has been excellent every time. I'd give it 5 stars, but there's no atmosphere to speak of, and the service is inconsistent. Not bad, just inconsistent - wine listed no longer available, had to ask for silverware, things like that. Hopefully in time they'll improve, but do go for the food.
Review Source:We've eaten at Divine Thai on a handful of  times and never was disappointed.  I've had the Pad Thai and the Divine Buddies, both were very good.  The food always taste fresh with good flavors, which I haven't experienced in other area Thai restaurants (Chim Thai and Pepper Terrace). Â
I'll agree there's not much ambiance in the dining room, but the service makes up for it twofold. Â Always friendly, smiles on their face, and there when we need them. Â Food comes quickly and hot.
They do offer mixed cocktails in addition to their beer and wine selection. Â Their wine list is a bit better than the average Thai restaurant.
My family really likes their food but the customer service needs help. Never eaten inside the place, only ordered and it's always an ordeal. One time they weren't doing deliveries because their driver never showed up. Another time the woman who took the order forgot to add something we asked for and then claimed we never ordered it, had to make the poor delivery guy make two trips. Tonight the girl who answered the phone tried to dissuade us from ordering, saying that they were very busy and the delivery time would be about an hour (it was Christmas Eve so it made sense), but we said we'd wait. Then she said that she didn't deliver to our area (which is either a flat-out lie or they changed their delivery zone within the last 3 weeks) so we stopped arguing and decided we'd just pick the order up. When I tried to substitute fried rice as a side, she snottily informed us that they didn't offer it as a side. After telling her we were looking at the words "fried rice" under the section labeled "sides", she said she'd do it this once. When we picked it up, a young girl taking on her cellphone ignored my wife until it became apparent she had to actually work. Inspecting the order, they gave us Glass Noodles instead of Black Noodes, which isn't a big deal since she probably misheard, except she tried to argue with us by telling us we ordered Glass. Finally, she charged extra for the Fried Rice even though we asked to make sure it could be substituted and had to have another woman come out of the kitchen and fix the order. The other woman apologized and said the girl was her niece and fixed everything. Maybe you shouldn't hire help based on who you're related to?
Review Source:We've gotten takeout from Divine Thai about 6 times and have eaten in the restaurant once. The ambiance is near zero in the dining room, so no need to eat there unless it's convenient.
The food is relatively good considering there are very few non-pizza, non-sub options in the area. Like other Thai restaurants, they will cater the spiciness to your tastes.
Dishes I've ordered and really liked:
- crab rangoon (not too greasy here)
- chicken pad thai
- vegetable pad thai
- chicken in peanut sauce
- pineapple fried rice
- tropical salmon
I hope this place survives, it is needed! Â The wait staff is very friendly. Â However, I am finding their prices to be a bit much for what you get (2 summer rolls for $5.25, and they are TINY). Â The pad thai is horrible, I'm sorry....it's a glob of noodles w/no flavor. Â The won ton soup is wonderful. Â Their accompanying sauces are amazing. Â Some of the rice dishes are okay, but again lacking deep flavor. Â I had a seafood noodle dish that was $17. Â Sorry, I am NOT cheap, but it was not worth $17. Please, owners, stop americanizing the food, let's get real with Thai spices and flavor!
Review Source:Two month ago my husband and I ate here, since then this is the only restaurant he wants to eat at. They have a good atmosphere. Their food is amazing and they always want to make sure you are happy with what you have. It is getting be a busy place, but they sit you very quickly. The price is very fair and they are always doing coupons in the local paper for a couple bucks off an entree. Â We have eaten there at least four times since the first time we went and my husband had take out from them last week and every experience has been wonderful. If you are looking for a great date night you must try this place!
Review Source:Ate at Divine Friday evening. Â The hostess/waitress was great offering suggestions on apps. Â We started with the chicken dumplings which came recommended and were fantastic. Â We also tried the Thai crispy rolls, they were OK probably wouldn't get them again. Â For our entree we shared the pad Thai and the chicken teriyaki. Â I really liked the pad Thai and the chicken was grilled and had a light teriyaki sauce over it with fresh veggies. Â Overall a nice light meal. Â The restaurant was clean and nothing special but pleasant.
Review Source:I'm not an expert on Thai food, but I like to eat and this place was great. Â Our waitress was soft spoken, yet attentive and we felt welcome and comfortable. Â My wife and I both had chicken Pad Thai, but next time we want to be a little more adventurous. Â Everything was nice and fresh and tasted great. Â We also had the appetizer sampler. Â Prices were entirely reasonable. Â We were completely satisfied. For a Tuesday I thought they were busy.
They sell beer and wine. Â The restaurant itself has been completely redone and looks great. Â The kitchen is in open view and the cooks were wearing hair nets which impressed me. Â Very clean, the restrooms too.
I don't understand how anyone could give this place less than 4 stars if they have taken everything into consideration. Â
Would gladly recommend.
Very good food, especially considering the location. We have been pleasantly surprised every time we go in. The dining room is clean, the service is always professionally and friendly, and the food is quite good. I've found myself craving the pad Thai on more than one occasion.
Wouldn't recommend the duck on the pad thai, but the others are great. Try the country style for a little spice kick.
I've been to Divine Thai twice, and I've been impressed with everything. Â Two visits aren't much of a sample size for certain observations, but here are a few:
- Service has been friendly and knowledgeable on both busy and calm evenings.
- Prices seem to be average for Thai restaurants.
- Their yellow curry is the best yellow curry I've ever eaten. Â I've only been to a few Thai restaurants (in Boston and Milford), but this one's at the top. Â My only critique is that the meat (chicken and pork) seemed standard, neither amazing nor terrible. Â However, the curry sauce is incredibly flavorful, and the vegetables are extremely fresh. Â The store-bought bottle of yellow curry sauce I bought in an attempt to satisfy my craving one day had nothing on this divine delicacy. Â I wish I could buy a bottle of Divine Thai's curry sauce!
- I highly recommend their "Four Seasons spring rolls" or vegetable tempura. Â Again, everything was very, very fresh and tasty (and came with no guilt whatsoever).
- Their pineapple fried rice and pad thai are delicious, as well. Â Lots of bold flavors!
- Speed is between pretty average and pretty fast.
- Their fried bananas and Thai iced tea, like those from the other Thai restaurants I've been to, are really awesome. Â A couple of my family members were very impressed by their hot tea, as well.
I give Divine Thai a well-deserved 4.5 to 5 stars. Â I'm easy to please, but I've had excellent meals there, and nothing has stood out as repulsive by any means. Â And I'm thrilled to have a great Thai restaurant much closer to home!
My mom and I tried this place out the other night for dinner. We got the sampler appetizer platter, 3 buddies dish, and shrimp pad thai. They were all quite delicious!! The waiter was very attentive and quite pleasant! We both left feeling very full and satisfied and the left overs were just as good the next day!! Definitely going to come back soon!!
Review Source:A solid find. Â I tried Divine Thai for the first time today. It's located right downtown. Â I had the lunch country pad thai and my guest had the mango curry. Â We both enjoyed our meals very much. Â The country pad thai, pad thai's spicier cousin, had just the right level of heat. Â On the other side of the table, the mango curry received some nice praise from my companion. Â I washed it down with a thai iced coffee. Â I would definitely go back the next time I am in town. Â It's definitely a nice addition to downtown.
Review Source:Went twice in a week. Â Vegetarian Pad Thai is excellent. Â Next time I had the Gourmet Specialty (veggies and tofu) with cashew sauce. Â AWESOME. Â Both visits, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Â I would recommend and would definitely go back, again and again. Â Also Thai Sweet tea is perfect.
Review Source:Wow! Â What a find! Â Fresh, tasty, inventive (try the Divine special). Â They altered the red curry for me, taking out the green peppers. 3 of us each had an appetizer and a main dish, all were flavorful and well presented. Â The waitstaff is incredibly helpful, polite and welcoming. This is our new fave! Â Word is they have been approved for a liquor license, most likely coming soon. Can't wait to come back. Don't let the lack of ambience fool you, these folks got game.
Review Source:The worst Thai food in the area. Â I really wanted to like this place as it is close to home, but it was definitely not divine. Â Sauces were heavy, noodles were stuck together in a glob. Try Lotus Thai in N. Smithfield RI or Chim Thai Cafe in Milford, MA if you want really good That food.
Review Source:The least appealing Thai food I have eaten, ever. Nothing terrible, Pad Thai was ok, other three dishes so so: mango curry, Masaman Curry, another noodle dish with fine noodles firmly stuck together in 1 inch+ clobs. There are three excellent Thai restaurants not too far away: best--Lotus Thai, N. Smithfield, RI, excellent--Chim Thai Cafe, Milford, very good--Thai Pepper, Milford, MA.
