So sometimes on a lazy Saturday night, I feel like spending time with my parents. They're pretty damn awesome and are always up to something cool, so I called my mom and she said they were planning on going to Dog Prairie Tavern for a friend's birthday. I agreed to go without even knowing what the place was, and I'm glad I did! This place is a dive bar if I've ever seen one, and that pretty much rules.

I was shocked to see so many cars parked outside... there's a parking lot across the street, but most people just park wherever they can. We were greeted by a really friendly guy at the door and had to pay a three dollar cover. I thought that was kind of lame, but what are you going to do? We made our way out to the patio (which is actually all grass, not concrete) and had a great spot at a couple of tables. It was super dark back there but luckily after 20 minutes or so, someone turned on the surrounding lights. I only stayed out there for a little bit because I wanted to watch the Mizzou & Cardinals games, and how awesome is it that they had both playing on TVs right next to each other?! Yes please!

Drinks are cheap and seemed to have a good amount of booze in them, but I was sad when they stopped serving food so early. I was starving and when I went to order something at the bar, the bartender said they were done... and it was before 9pm! Regardless, we had a good time sitting inside with all of the locals while watching the game. There are some bar games, an awesome juke box, and all of those things we admire in a dive bar. Fun place! I probably won't be back because I never go to St. Paul, but check it out if you're in the area.
