Will not return. Food was good but when we complained to the manager about being charged $0.25 when we asked for more sauce for the $26 crab cake we we told that because the menu does not say it comes with sauce we are not entitled to it. Â What!!!! Â Â Â For a bill of more than. $150 was the. $ 0.25 really worth losing customers of over 30 years.
Review Source:Went last  sunday afternoon 130pm two other small tables filled about 10 or more open. Took 15 minutes to place my order, another 20 minutes later the server came out and said my son'e appetizer was not available, but food would be coming out soon.  It came out another ten minutes later. FYI there was no Eagles game on at the time, so no excuse there
the two $10 burgers were OK, but my $10 warm ham and cheese sandwich was lower quality food than a pre-made at Wawa or 7 eleven.
I tipped only 15% for the first time in years.
The new owners (congrats to Joe!) have done a wonderful job renovating the old tavern and creating a varied and interesting menu. The ambience in the bar is always fun, and the dining room is comfortable and homey. My husband and I stopped in on a recent Saturday evening and enjoyed a great meal after having had some tasty appetizers and drinks at the bar. I had the char-grilled salmon which was flavorful and juicy, and the accompanying potato pancake was to die for. My husband got the pork medallions with horseradish mashed potatoes, and he loved it. The portions were good-sized and we wound up taking some home. Service was excellent, as always. We like the varied menu and they have some nice wines by the glass. We will defnitely be back! Review Source:Went there on Sunday evening in a party of four. Two had steak which they would rate a 6 on a scale of 1 to 10. Two of us had pasta with seafood dishes which we would rate as 2 out of 10. One dish was pasta with shrimp and small lobster tail and the pasta was the consistence of mashed potatoes, covered with a light green sauce that tasted like chicken broth. The other dish was ravioli stuffed with lobster, but it was minced up and was surely some type of faux lobster. The pasta was obviously frozen and it was very undercooked. Also covered by the same green sauce that tasted like chicken broth. Awful food for the seafood dishes and too expensive for what you get. One person complained to the waitress about the mushy pasta and she offered her another side dish. Not very good service either. The bar might be good because it was packed, the restaurant was not.
Review Source:Came here with a livingsocial deal.
Had the tavern burger with swiss and it was nice and juicy. Â I asked for med rare but came out medium. Â Still it wasn't dry at all. Â It came with a cup of fries and the whole set up looked awesome. Â Huge bun, didn't get to finish it. Â Best burger I've had in months.
Had the carrot cake cheesecake for dessert. Â Such a great idea combining the two. Â The frosting was overly sweet but the cake itself was amazing.
Note the menu online differed from the menu in house. Â Aside from the burgers, expect to pay an extra buck for entrees. Â But judging on the careful preparation of a simple burger, I think the other entrees will follow suit.
I have always wanted to try this place after passing it several times and since we now live closer to here we decided to give it a shot. We walked in and decided to have a seat at the bar. Sitting down you feel uncomfortable if you arent local since the bartender we had completely ignored us after handing us our drinks and a menu. Â He was very chatty with the other customers but didnt make us feel welcome here. A bartender is supposed to be warm and welcoming. This guy wasnt, I also noticed he was asking another customer for their opinion on certain menu items. Very weird. I dont know if its because we werent dressed accordingly or what, but when I go to a place like this I expect it to be a relaxed t-shirt and shorts kinda place. Â waited for 15 minutes and he still never came back to ask if we wanted to order anything. We decided to get a real booth and sit down.
I decided to get the fish and chips and my girlfriend went with the pickering pasta which is alfredo pasta with beef tips on the top. Our server was very friendly and prompt. her meal came with a salad and some hot, toasted bread with some oil for dipping which was a nice touch I thought.
Finally our food came out and as soon as hit hit the table we were both disappointed. My fish and chips were swimming in grease and they were clearly frozen and not freshly made as stated in the menu, it looked like 2 Gordons frozen fish pieces you can get in the supermarket for a few bucks with a cup of fries (which were also frozen) on the side. All this for $12.00? It came with coleslaw as well which was from a jar.
My girlfriends dish was a plate of pasta smothered in bland alfredo sauce and 2 pieces of grilled beef on top. the alfredo sauce was clearly from a jar and had zero flavor. even the server tried it and she agreed as well and its "usually good". they claim the sauce is homemade which i highly doubt since this had no flavor at all. so after a few bites she sent it back and went with the marsh harbor garlic grilled shrimp. this was a little better but for $12.50 it was basically a huge plate of spaghetti in some sort of scampi sauce and 3 shrimp on top which werent even grilled. you can find this same dish at olive garden which would be a lot better.
after a few bites of that we decided to just grab a box and leave. but before leaving the manager came over and wanted our input, my girlfriend was trying to explain to him what she didnt like about the first dish, but he kept interrupting her asking her if it "need more salt"? or "more pepper"? Â we told him t grab us a box and he said he would be right back with it but had our server bring it instead. it really showed how much he cared.
the only thing i will give them is they comped us our drinks and the first dish she didnt like. we had a $40 for $20 groupon voucher which we used to pay the bill and didnt cover alcohol, so kudos to them. i feel for the type of atmosphere and prices they are charging the food should blow you away. as one of the other reviewers mentioned, a meal from wegmans would have been better.
I went into the Eagle Tavern for the first time in years and was in for a total surprise (for the good!) Â The new owners have brightened up the entire place - the atmosphere was great and the food was even better!! Â
When I had eaten there in the past it was dark and dreary. Â The decor and vibe is totally fresh - it's not what your grandparent's were used to.
The food was amazing - everything was fresh and delicious! Â The portions were generous and the presentation was very nice. Â We even had dessert which was yummy as well!
I went in again recently for drinks at the bar. Â The crowd was fun but not overwhelming. Â It's a great little local place to hang out.
If you haven't been there in years because of what it used to be like, you should definitely give it a shot again!! Â Well worth it - will definitely be back!
Used to love this place. Â Nothing bad to complain, just food was not as tasty. Â $22 for entree of 4 small scallops was tasty, but just outrageous for the price. Â When it came out, I thought it was an appetizer. Â Went home hungry even I tried to stuff myself with bread.
Another visit, wings and salad was....let's say Wegmans was better and cheaper.
Good food and a nice atmosphere. Echoing what others have said, the overall quality of the restaurant has gone up since the new owners took over. Â A local club I belong to has monthly dinners here, and the service and food is quite good. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Review Source:The new owners have done a really nice job with new decor, new menus and good service. Â We had lunch with friends and were nicely rewarded with large portions, endless iced tea and smiling faces from all. Â Good job Eagle...we will return for one of your evening events like twin lobster tails, or Tasting Menu.
Review Source:In my opinion, D O Â N O T Â E V E N Â C O N S I D E R Â E A T I N G Â H E R E. Â
After dining at this establishment and suffering from what I opined to be gastric distress. Â I called the owner as he was not available and I left word for a return call. To his credit, he promptly called me back. Â We traded voice mails and eventually we discussed my complaints and I requested a refund. Â He said that he would look into it and get back to me. Â He never did and I called him back and he called me liar, told me that "nobody" else was sickened by the food served and that I was merely a complainer. Â He also complained that I posted a poor review on Yelp.
It is my opinion that this restauranteur does not take responsibility. Â I would never recommend this establishment to anyone.
What an enjoyable dinner and drink experience -- from beginning to end!
Our server, Katie, was so friendly and helpful when recommending the specials of the evening. We had the snapper soup, tempura shrimp with scallop mousse, scallops orecchiette, and cheddar crab casserole. Everything was fantastic. From the specials, to the Tavern favorites, everything was great.
Before the bill came out, we attempted to guess the total cost of the meal and were over by $30!!
The moral of this story is: Eagle Tavern offers a delicious, affordable, and a fantastic culinary experience coupled with a warm Chester Springs ambience.
Whoa.... New owners.... The food has taken a giant leap forward with a new chef and a great new attitude! The menu is just starting to reflect the efforts being put forth by the kitchen. Give this place a little time and we'll be waiting for tables. On the way to becoming a new destination spot in Chester County.
Review Source:Simply awful. Expect cafeteria quality and you won't be disappointed. Nothing seems to be freshly prepared with actual fresh ingredients. Â Appetizers were like the ones you buy in the frozen section of Costco. Â Not freshly prepared. Â Canned peas and carrots with the entree - disgusting. The only ok item was the snapper soup my buddy had. Â The menu is eclectic to the point of utter confusion. Â There doesn't seem to be a theme with this restuarant. Â For a good laugh try the "uptown fair" section of the menu. It includes a frozen /fried Fish and chips platter and frozen/breaded chicken tenders and fries. I never want to be Uptown in that town. Â My high school had better food. Â Eagle tavern is a "Restaurant Impossible" candidate. Avoid.
Review Source:Never ever go to the Eagle Tavern. Â A group of us made a reservation to host a bridal shower there this coming weekend. Â I called on Monday to give the final headcount and the manager told me that they did not have a reservation for our group and they changed their hours so they said we were "out of luck". Â They made me feel like I was wrong and they talked down to me despite the fact that I know we made a reservation. Â When they realized they were wrong, they said they would open for us but they didn't want to bring in a chef so we had to have all cold food. Â I am sorry but I am not paying $17 a person for day old chicken salad and a lousy club sandwich. Â So 3 days before the event, I had to scramble to find a new venue and tell all the guests. Â People make mistakes, I wasn't upset that they lost our reservation.....it was how they talked to me. Â They made me out to be an idiot when the fault was all theirs! Â I am disgusted by the Eagle Tavern
Review Source:Went here to grab a quick lunch with my mom and daughter. Â Nice menu, decent prices. Â Food was very, very good! Â Service was great, everyone was friendly and we were in and out. Â Why not 5 stars? Â The bar was LOUD with growling, cheering men watching a sports game. Â It would'be been nice to have doors closing off the bar area to drown out some noise.
