We stopped in here for a drink after dinner because I wanted to check it out. My husband didn't really want to, and I should have listened.
We sat down and waiting quite awhile before someone came over. She finally did and halfheartedly apologized. It wasn't too busy in there so I am not sure what the deal was. We had a drink and left. I probably won't be back, there are enough other places in Old Town Temecula.
We started off our Saturday night festivities at the Public House and then wandered down to The Edge later in the evening. Â When we first go there it was perfect. Â There was no cover charge, the DJ was playing good music, people were dancing and having a good time. Â The music played was great. Â There was a lot of Top 40 from the 90's up to some of the most current club hits of today. Â They were the most popular songs with everyone lip syncing and in some cases yelling out the lyrics while gyrating on the dance floor.
Then all of a sudden it was packed.... Â elbow to elbow packed. Â Seating was limited and if you got up to go to the bathroom or get a drink you would most certainly lose your seat. Â The drink prices are a bit steep compared to your normal nightclub too. Â
Would we go back? Â Sure. Â We had a good time.
Dear Baby Jesus, it was the hottest day of my life today. Â On our way to the Wineries (I had some shipments to pick up), my mother and I decided to grab some lunch. Â Due to the EXTREME heat, we went to the FIRST place we found. Â That and the guy serenading us on the street helped. Â So we entered.
We were greeted immediately by a warm and welcoming staff, and seated promptly. Â
::::::::::DECOR::::::::::
This restaurant is decorated really nicely. Â I was surprised. Â I expected everything in Old Town to be rustic, but not here. Â Very upscale and luxurious. Â The booths are really neat, deep and spacious.

::::::::::SERVICE::::::::::
Our service was great. Â Our waitress was helpful, attentive and informative. Â Pleasant attitude also. Â When my mom discovered her sandwich had cheese (which she hates), our waitress brought her out a brand new one...with a smile. Â Anything we asked for, she got for us.
::::::::::FOOD::::::::::
Maybe this was a limited special, but they have $4 Bloody Mary's and Mimosas. Â I love a Mimosa, but I love a Bloody Mary too. Â I added a TON more Tabasco, I like mine hot. Â It was really delicious. Â For some reason...it tasted stronger if you sipped it from the cup rim and not the straw. Â Thy did run out of olives, so that was a bummer.

California Chicken Sandwich $12 - YUM YUM YUM! Â Charbroiled Chicken Breast, Anaheim Chili, Pancetta Bacon, Avocado, Buffalo Mozzarella Cheese, Lemon Habanero Aioli w/Fries. Â WOW this sandwich was GREAT. Â The smokiness of the Pancetta, the tenderness of the Chicken Breast and the Aioli. Â A very great sandwich. Â The thin slices of red onion added a good balance to the sandwich. Â Id definitely order it again.
I really like this place, and so does my mom. Â We will be back. Â Not sure why such bad reviews, but try for yourself...you never know!!!!!!!!!
Mostly crap. The food is too expensive for what you get. It's just okay. But the service is really bad. Our waiter was generally confused by who ordered what. At a table for seven he forgot who ordered what. Good came way late and came in a couple of plates at a time over a 15 minute period. They completely forgot to serve good at all to one guy. We found out the was mostly chatting at the bar with some chick. Also his delivery of the check was super weird. Hovering over us without saying anything.
Them the owner comes around staring at all of us. Twice. The second time he asks us about each of our plates and then starts telling us this long story about how they have live entertainment on the weekends. So it turns into a survey/advertisement. Just get your dude were trying to enjoy each others company.
Avoid. There's nothing here of any value.
Wow. Definitely the place to go in old town. For lunch, the cream of mushroom soup and turkey sandwich combo was outstanding! Â I ate out on the street - which on a sunny day has no shade - so watch out for sunburn. Â
Old Town Temecula is an ok town to visit once, but the street is clogged with pickup trucks blasting thumpy music and motorbikes. Â The noise is awful and despite California's best efforts, the smell of exhaust is choking. Â The city really needs to control the traffic better.
Horrible service...really, gave them many chances/benefit of the doubt...but, they were just bad. Make sure you're specific if you don't want an outside table or one right next to the entrance on your reservation.
extremely overpriced, mediocre food.
highlights in this dark/negative experience?
-extra stars for the bottle of wine included with the meal, to go.
-ambiance and location were decent. live band.
Its really too bad because i've been trying to like this place for a while now. Â The food is good when its served right away but they are very understaffed and the food tends to sit out until its cold and dried out. Â The owners clearly have no idea how to run a business much less a restaurant and lounge and the new outsourced restaurant management company they brought in seems a bit shaky. Â They have improved the menu but the chef spends way too much time socializing with the crowds and talking about himself and quite honestly, seems like he's on something. Not an accusation just how he appears. Its just overall mismanaged and under funded to expand it into what it could be.
Review Source:Deeelicious!!!! Â Yumm yummm Omg!! The chef came out to introduce himself. Â We asked him to prepare us lunch away from the menu. Â He is very excited to cook for customers. Â We had 8 people, and he brought us a menu straight out of a fantasy. Â Every person in our group agreed that we have never had a lunch as delicious as this that. Â I highly recommend this restaurant. Â We are here to get married, but live in new mexico. Â We have agreed to meet this group at this restaurant the same date next year. :)
Review Source:This place is nothing like when I first went here.
The amazing Chef Chris is gone, and with it, the food's quality & standards.
The music is uninspired and boring. The crowd... the same.
The main male bartender, Tyler, is a know-it-all pompous ass who hides behind a phony charm.
So much potential. Not enough love.
The silver lining - it wasn't just our table that had crappy service, our entire wing had patrons looking up, sticking their heads into the aisles, wondering where the hell are their food and drinks.
There was no explanation from the waitress why she would disappear for extended periods of time without bringing our drink orders. She never refilled our water. She never checked on us. When we asked about our order, we were told it was coming out. That was a lie - we kept on waiting.
The food sucked. I had the chicken lettuce wraps and it was so boring, bland, and $$$ for the price. Seriously, I can go to the grocery store, pick up one stalk of celery, pick up one carrot, take 3 leaves of lettuce, microwave some chicken breast, and squeeze some mayo and hot sauce on top. That will be a recreation of the dish.
Oh here's the best part - when we tried to give the waitress our credit card to run, she rolled her eyes, informed us she was having a crappy day, and told us it will take a while. WTF.
This place was horrible! The service was decent enough, but the food was some of the worst I've had. Unless of course you like shrimp that are over cooked and have the texture of rubber, scallops that are burnt to a crisp, and risotto that's as thick as caulk.
I went in a group of 4 on a Tuesday night, and no one had anything good to say about the food.
I've heard that if you give the place a good review and show them that you are posting it, they will give you a free beer. If that's the case, that's the only reason this place gets good reviews.
I was so disappointed. I won't be back.
3 stars???? Â really? Great food, imaginatively seasoned and presented, quite good service, an HONEST drink, I think 4 plus stars is more accurate. Â And I (we) have eaten in many of the trendy/ spendy places in So. Cal and No. Cal, not to mention many other places in the world and this food stands up well. Â The Cordon Bleu it aint but EDGEY it is and that is very often a very good thing.
I'm going back
Cougar hunters (or prey), rejoice! I have found them, and have been able to observe them in their natural habitat: The Edge Restaurant and Lounge.
My friends and I sometimes grab drinks at The Edge to start off our night. The drinks are ok, and the service is whatevers. But their patio is cute, and a great place to hang out and catch up with old friends on the plentiful seating near the outdoor heaters. They often have live music - the nights that I have been there is usually a funk band covering pop and hip hop songs. They're actually pretty fun, and the patrons seem to enjoy it. There's a little dance floor, although I have never seen it full. Usually a few older women who have decided it's their night to break out the halter tops, get "cuh-razy," let their hair down and have a cosmo will be out there doing a raunchy version of the electric slide.
Yeah, there are definitely a lot of cougars roaming around these parts. And a lot of old dudes. Sorry, I'm not feeling clever enough to come up with a male equivalent to cougar right now. Feel free to insert your own here ____. My friends and I have experienced many an awkward moment fending off fogies, which is part of the reason we don't usually spend our whole night here.
Not a bad kick it spot for the beginning of the night, and definitely recommended to any potential cougar prey who need a place to graze.
I feel terrible that so many patrons had such poor experiences at The Edge. My husband and I went to the restaurant about two weeks ago and had a wonderful time.
We started with a bottle of wine and the cheese plate. The cheese plate was extremely generous in portion-size and had wonderful pairings of cheese, crackers, fruits and nuts. I would have preferred a few more crackers- but overall it was a wonderful appetizer.
The rolls were buttery and slightly sweet- and also light and fluffy. They were absolutely delicious.
The special of the night was a T-bone steak which was cooked perfectly. The sides were good- but not a notable accent to the dish. Â There was something missing to tie the entire dish together.
The vegetarian pasta dish was amazing. Homemade pasta noodles were a delightful addition to the dish and had a wonderful texture.
We were disappointed we could not eat dessert- but the portion sizes of our meals were extremely generous which left no room for dessert.
The service was OK. Nothing spectacular- which is what kept me from rating 5 stars. Our server was nice, but not quite the caliber that we expected for the price we paid. Slight spills of our wine, a mixup on our bill (which was promptly corrected) were of the most notable errors.
Overall our experience was pleasant and we enjoyed the food, wine and atmosphere. Â We will definitely be back to The Edge.
3.5 stars!!!
We stumbled upon this place after leaving the Public House at around 10pm on a Sunday night and noticed not much was open.  The decor was really pretty and they happen to be having karaoke.  The people here were very nice and typsy...like us.  One of the bartenders' even invited us to come back the next night, unfortunately we had to go back home. Â
Drinks are lil pricey, especially the shots but good ambiance all around.  I would come back when Im in the area.
This isn't Boa or Crustacean's.... So why so expensive? This is Temecula! (I've lived here 20 years and am not a snob).
I do not mind paying Boa prices, but I expect good food. This place is nothing more than a "cougar" bar.
Save yourself from a huge regret....walk across the street to the burger place, grab a burge, some beers and sit on the porch watching the "wanna be snobs who think just because I overpay for sub-average food I am better than you".
Want the best??? Hit Great Oak steakhouse inside Pechanga. Even closer- Â The Gambling Cowboy.
I have heard of this restaurant but went there for the first time recently and had a great experience. Â They are somewhat pricy, however, I was expecting that; in addition, the food was absolutely great and from what was explained, prepared fresh and healthier than most other restaurants.
Our waitress, Kelly C, absolutely MADE our evening and should be the spokesperson for the restaurant :). Â
From great food to great service, I would absolutely recommend this restaurant.
I left this restaurant, for the first time in my life compelled to create an account on Yelp just to review a restaurant. I wish I could give it negative stars. Or as long as I'm wishing, I wish I could turn back time, not just to before we went there, but to before it was built so I could have a hand in talking someone out of creating such a terrible place.
THE FOOD: ranging from mediocre to truly, truly hideously awful. Comically awful. The macaroni and cheese was the worst I've ever even heard about, dry as dust, to the point where it looked like someone took cooked pasta, sprinkled it in cheese powder, and put those two in the oven for 30 minutes.
I tried to overcome how stupid it felt to order something called "Sliders on the Edge" - a trio of ahi, pork, and "kobe" sliders - and shouldn't have been surprised to find that's what I got. It was bread and meat, the size of a child's fist, x3. Maybe for another $18, I could get some cabbage or something.
The Osso Bucco gets points for being mediocre as opposed to awful, but this place has no business whatsoever charging $44 for anything. If it was $20 I would still never order it again, but at least I wouldn't be angry about it.
THE SERVICE: Was fine. I make it a point to not complain about service, because it has no bearing on the restaurant itself. Could've just been a bad day, bad table, whatever. Service was par.
THE RESTAURANT: Is bizarre. There are little hints that suggest the owners have never even been to a restaurant before they designed their menu/prices. Like for example: there are four small salads, each for $9... but the cost of adding grilled chicken breast is another $9. Seriously. Which is just completely absurd, and three times what it is pretty much anywhere else. Shrimp is $12, scallops $10. The "small plates" range wildly from $6 to $26, the large plates $18 to $64.
But perhaps the biggest cause of all this is reflected in the menu, the lack of direction of vision. We've got a honey/butter foie gras, and then an asian themed "ahi cigar." There's chorizo brie and a cuban sandwich, but also scotch eggs and beef wellington. They've got a traditional-looking gnocchi carbonara, but then also a "spaghetti and meatballs" (their quotes, not mine) with ahi tuna meatballs and udon noodles.
What is this place? What kind of food do they serve? They're there to  make money, and you can tell in the food, presentation, and prices. One of the worst meals I've ever had. -50 stars.
Not impressed.
My husband and I had a date night last night and went to the The Edge. We had a reservation for 7 PM but showed up half an hour early and were seated right away (props).
He ordered an Edge salad and Flat Iron Diane, and I had the Vineyard Salad and Sea Bass. The waitress informed me when I ordered the Bass that they were using halibut instead. Ok, fine.
Our salads came out pretty quickly, along with a basket of bread. Both salads were actually rather bland. The salad dressing on the Edge salad was ridiculously flavorless, and the salad dressing on the Vineyard salad was scant.
After we finished our salads it was another hour and 15 minutes before we got our food. Good thing we got there half an hour early, otherwise we would have both been starving. Both the waitress and host were busy serving other tables, and it was probably a good 30 minutes before we even saw either of them. They kept offering us more bread, and I have a feeling they may have been the only employees there.
When our food arrived it was not that great. My husband ordered his steak well done only to find it was cooked extremely rare. The Halibut meal that I had been told was identical to the Sea Bass was not. Instead of being served over quinoa it was over white rice, which was both undercooked yet extremely sticky..a very odd texture for rice. I also found it to be a bit salty.
I'm not trying to be snobby at all. I'm not a foodie or a critic or anything. I'm a wife who tried to treat her husband to his first nice meal following a 12 month deployment, and The Edge really did not live up to expectations.
For a $113, we could easily have gone somewhere else and received faster service and better food.
The only redeeming quality of the restaurant is that the waitress was apologetic and gave us a free "birthday dessert" (3 spoonfuls of chocolate gellato with whipped cream), although at that point we just wanted to pay and leave so we didn't end up eating it.
This is my 2nd trip to this restaurant in the last year. Â The first visit was right after it opened and I was not impressed. Â I heard that they made some major changes in the management etc so I thought it was worth another try. Â The server was great......props to her and we had a great fish meal. Â The others had appetizers which I tried and was not impressed to say the least. Â The decor is nice but the atmosphere was blah........
I visit restaurants all over the US and my prediction is this place has about 6 months before it closes it doors.  Great concept  but unfortunately not well executed. Hopefully someone will come in and do it right.....  until then I will go somewhere else......
I have a feeling the restaurant took its name from the ledge you want to be standing on after dining here...it's about 4 feet up and probably isn't the best place to hang out.
First they give hot towels for your hands. Oooohhh fancy. I really like that until the towel was so effing hot I couldn't even use it. I would have burned my fingers so I did a half wipe and handed it back to the impatient waitress. Well, not waitress because she wasn't the waitress. She was just kind of there taking orders and stuff but our waiter was someone else.
They were out of the bottle of wine we ordered, and to make sure we didn't feel badly about it we were informed that they were also out of several beers (he listed four or five, I didn't really pay attention). Yeah. Okay, no big we were deciding between two bottles anyway so we just went with the other one. We ordered our food.
Waited
And waited
and waited
and waited
For 45 minutes. And when the food arrived it a was both burnt and cold. Yay! That's a freakin' fabulous $90 meal isn't it? That's what I thought.
Oh, and to top it off the waiter took our bill, from me (it was my turn to pay) and proceeded to hand it back to my BF. BIGGEST PET PEEVE EVER. Are you listening waiters? THE GUY DOESN"T ALWAYS PAY so either LOOK at the CARD or just stick it in the middle for effs sake! I'm sure he wasn't happy when he got the bill back and looked at the tip, it reflected my displeasure with the meal as well as his lackluster attitude about service.
Waited x 1 hour for appetizer
Alcoholic drinks were tasty, but we were never asked if we wanted another.
Had to ask for refill of water
Food arrived approx 30 minutes after the appetizer. Was not worth the $$$. Frozen pasta from Costco has more flavor. My husbands fillet did not taste good (per his output, I did not try) Disappointed to say the least, we will not be returning.
Don't waste you time or hard earned money. It's not worth it.
I've been to this restaurant a half-dozen times. I've had dinner there three or four times, attended an event for the Temecula Valley Film Festival (extra props to places like The Edge for supporting the local art community) and once for just drinks at the bar.
All of my visits have been great. I moved here from the Hollywood area, so it's nice to finally have a place that's hip and a little more upscale than the traditional chain restaurants that dominate this area. Meals have all been tops, the wait staff are always attentive -- you usually get a waiter/waitress and an assistant.
I've had two uniquely positive encounters with the staff:
1. I was having drinks at the bar with a date and a rude drunk tried to interrupt us. The bar tender was on it in a second, told the guy we were having a private conversation, and got rid of him.
2. Having dinner one night, a large party was there for dinner and it was obvious they'd spent the day at the wineries (they were LOUD). We were offered a move to the outdoor seating where it was quieter, and our wine was comped.
My meals have all been tops -- some of the best I've had in Temecula. I especially like the steaks. Excellent wine selection. There are lots of surprises -- the pre-meal bread is an interesting mix, there's always a new treat at the end of the dinner that usually involves an assortment of chocolates and some other goody. It's the kind of place where the chefs/cooks are experimenting when during quieter times, and on most occasions the waitress has come out and randomly offered us a free sampling of whatever the chef is working on.
I've noticed quite a few one-star reviews here - keep in mind that the restaurant business is competitive and competing businesses post phony reviews to tear-down their competitors all the time. I'm not saying some of these people haven't had genuinely negative experiences -- just keep that in mind. I can't think of any nicer/hipper places in Temecula to eat and grab drinks, so I don't know what the negative reviewers are comparing The Edge against.
Yeah, three stars is about right. And here's why...
My boyfriend took me out for a wonderful meal and decided to test out the "nicest place for dinner" in Temecula. So, the decor is fabulous, I was worried that I was overdressed, but didn't seem to be because the inside was so nice and elegant.
First sign of warning: We had made a reservation, but our table wasn't ready. The hostess offered us a patio table and told us we could switch later if we wanted to. We ended up staying because there was a really loud band inside and we were looking for a more romantic evening.
The menu IS fabulous. Â No lies. Wonderful selection of simple yet elegant small plates and large plates (I like that). But it was overpriced. Really overpriced. BUT delicious. Really delicious.
Items ordered:
Prawn cocktail (delish)
Artichoke saute
Horseradish salad
Filet Mingon
Scallops and Shrimp
Bottle of wine (what? two people can share a bottle...)
The bill: embarrassingly expensive
Here's the real kicker and the reason I withheld two stars: apparently at 10 this place turns into a cougar bar and all bets are off. Our meal happened to run long (a bottle of wine people!) and as soon as 10:00 hit, our server bailed, the music started blasting and men wearing bejeweled Ed Hardy were more then plenty. We waited for 30 min for someone to come take our bill, but nobody did. My boyfriend actually had to take it to the bar inside to pay! We were also told that we could cork the wine we didn't finish and take it home, which ended up being another ordeal.
In short: excellent food, really expensive, but go early or you will have to fight for your right to be a customer and not a waitress.
As my friend so very aptly put it, The Edge is known as the Cheater's Club.
Although I haven't had the opportunity to dine here, I did have the chance to have a few drinks here last night.
I met a friend for some drinks and sat out on the patio. Â There was a musician playing when I arrived, but he gave way to a DJ shortly after. Â The DJ was ok, as was the musician.
The crowd however, left much to be desired. Â Like I said, everyone here looked like they belonged to someone else. Â There was a lot of shifting eyes. Â It just gave off a skeevie vibe that only a hot shower could get off of you.
But the venue was great. Â Everything about the dining room, patio and even the restroom said pseudo-high end. Â I'd come back for a drink or two whenever there isn't any music playing.
It's 11pm, do you know where your wife is...
I took my wife out for a nice dinner last night and The Edge didn't disappoint. And we went after I read quite of few of the asinine reviews of the place on Yelp....which I've got to laugh at. Reviewers bitching about how the portions are so tiny, that the wait is too long, that the spaghetti and meatballs really aren't spaghetti and meatballs, etc. Here's some advice:
1) If you want to stuff your face, go to a buffet.
2) If you don't want to wait, make a reservation, you can do it on their website for chrissakes.
3) Read the friggin' description before you order someting so you're not surprised and/or butthurt about what you get.
Anywho, the food was wonderful. Everything from the bread to the dessert. The drinks were incredible and our server, Harriet, did an outstanding job. We dropped a couple c-notes, but it was worth it. We had the foie gras as an appetizer, the scallops and filet as the entrees, and hot fudge sundae for dessert. The specialty drinks are off the hook. We will definitely be going back.
We were passing through Temecula and looking for a lunch place. The super-fancy interior was a surprise--not in keeping with the ersatz Western theme of the rest of town.
We ordered 2 different Benedicts: they were about $8 each, a side of potatoes would be an extra $4. I prefer that pricing structure--I had plenty of food w/out the spuds. They were both tasty.
Mom had the chicken salad on raisin-nut bread. Skimpy on the salad, thick on the bread--and the bread was too full of raisins for our taste.
Dad got chilaquiles--they were yummy & a huge portion. Our friendly waitress complemented him on being the first customer she'd ever seen to actually finish the plate. Pretty good for an 85 year-old!
Bloody Mary's were about $6 each. They accommodated Mom's "not too spicy" request, although hers was initially delivered to me.
When the waitress saw the birthday cards on the table, she let us know that the birthday girl (me!) gets a free dessert. Whoopee!!! love that! We shared a very dense, rich chocolate cream pie. It was yummy.
Am I a snob for not holding Temecula to big-city standards? It definitely has big-city pretensions, and it came through just fine for us. If I'm traveling through Temecula again, looking for more than a burger, I'd give it another try.
So, I've eaten here twice - once for brunch and once with friends. Â Thus, two different dining experiences as a result. Â First of all, their food is fresh and they try to yield towards local and organic when possible. Â The wait staff is great and the times I've dined here, I liked my dish. Â The executive chef is friendly and very talented. Â The only prob is the layout. Â It's awkward. Â The dining experience is cramped unless you sit in a booth. Â Further, the space is small and there are not many spots to sit down. Â The main area is a swank bar/lounge that is inviting. Â On weekends, they have a live band, which is a plus to the overall experience. Â
I don't mind paying higher prices for food. Â Food is an art and I appreciate the complexities and uniqueness that comes from a dining experience. Â However, something needs to be done about the layout of the place. Â Also, consider a smaller corkage fee. Â Many fine dining restaurants charge smaller rates. Â I expected the wine list to be higher end, which I found it to be OK. Â Lastly, the menu needs to be a bit more specific for the non-foodies that dine here. Â I like the element of fun and surprise with dining. Â Many don't, especially when paying higher prices. Â I look forward to see how this place evolves. Â It needs to in order to keep the crowds coming.
Pros:
-Nice waitress
Cons:
-10min wait for table, when all the tables were empty and our table was ready.
-Menu was VERY vague, "spaghetti & meatballs" = "tuna & udon"
-Very small portions, 2 small "tuna balls" & 5 noddles = $24
-Long wait, only group eating dinner, and it took 45mins to get our order.
-No taste, and when it did, it wasn't pleasing.
-OVERPRICED! expected high price and high quality food...WRONG!
The Edge is a joke. Everything screams "5 stars" from the outside and decor. But, once you enter, see the menu, wait for your food, then taste it... You'll be screaming "1 star"
I'd rather had just gone to chili's.
I was there for a party a week ago -a supposedly organised event. Yeah, about that...
Our group was basically relegated to the patio on Front Street, which ended up turning what was supposed to be a class evening into an awkward game of sardines. Even the servers assigned to our party were very obviously miffed at the bob-and-weave they had to play in order to manoeuvre out there.
In fact, every employee I ran into that evening seemed ticked. Not only at our crowd, but some choice lushed up members from the mass of humanity inside which kept trying to weasle themselves some free canapes, and at the lack of information to be had in between. A drink ticket system was (again, supposedly) arranged for our group, but none of the servers had any information about it, and got a bit surly when asked.
Look, I get it. You are not the man in charge. You probably know about as much as the customer, but you have to act like you have it all under control. You're a waiter, therefore an actor. -But you are being paid to not know as much as you do, whereas the customer is not. So please refrain from treating THEM like the crasshat (especially if you are looking for tips or repeat business).
Overall, the night was a bit of a letdown. Like I said, billed to be a nice event, it seemed like kids playing "fancy restaurant". I ventured inside for a while, and was not impressed by the band, staff indoors, or the whole poseur chic scene.
Maybe things would be different on a casual night, no events involved, but my experience does not incline me to try that theory.
