Breakfast here was so frustrating!
We went on a Sunday morning. We guessed there would be a wait, so we were prepared for that. What we weren't prepared for is that there would only appear to be one couple ahead of us and that just as we thought it was our turn that other families would start to wander in and get seated before us. My husband is not the most patient of people (don't worry, I'm not telling you something that he doesn't know) and so I kept trying to say things like: It's okay, maybe they have a table for four and they're waiting to give us a two-top. That worked alright until two older ladies walked in and crabbed about the fact that they couldn't wait. They sat next to us to wait. And lo and behold, they were seated before us! Â Someone who shall now remain nameless lost it completely. Needless to say, we were seated moments later. I don't like things like that. I should have walked in the door complaining left and right to be seated more quickly. Live and learn.
Once we were seated, our server was very nice. And she stayed on top of coffee refills and such, but the food seemed to take forever. In fact, I felt like we were being punished for earlier. Eventually our food arrived and it was very good. Overpriced, but tasty.
Something odd. A different server sat down with a family and was kissing on babies and bantering back and forth. She would then run coffee to a table or deliver food and be back to banter. Â Maybe it was her own family, but they seemed way too busy for that nonsense.
When we went to pay and leave, I heard other people complaining about the wait for their food to arrive to the hostess. She said something about the kitchen being backed up. Honestly, I feel like both the front and back of the house need a new system. The food was good, but for the price, I'll drive to Brunch Cafe or Wildberry Cafe for less frustration.
Finding a good breakfast spot with the family is hard. Chain restaurants are alright but I certainly prefer the single owner, non franchised locations. They just seem to have better food and service.
I've been to this restaurant twice in one week.
First time with my baby and in-laws.
Food was not only speedy but delicious. Cooked perfectly. Had the biscuits and gravy. I think the biscuits were homemade because they tasted super fresh and fluffy. Service was great. No complaints. Perfect morning out with the fam.
Second time with baby, hubby, and my mom.
Again, food was great. Portions are huge. On both occasions we never finished our food. Tried something new the second time and it was delicious. Yum, gypsy skillet.
Can't really go wrong here. I will be coming back.
