After a couple of different identities the Egyptian was opened in 1926, yes 1926. Old.
Old and cool, it's a tiny theatre with probably about 250-300 seats so obviously there is not a bad view in the house. I have been to many shows here ranging from some fine melodramas to rock shows to stand up comedy to real actory stuff. ( Is actory a word?) Even if you pick a show that you have no prior knowledge of, you will probably have fun in this intimate setting.
During the summer there are youth camps which conclude with your cherished ones performing on this historic stage. Cool.
There is some premium seating with tables right up against the stage, i've seen people bring their own wine and food in, much to the amusement of the stand up comics that night! I believe a comment or two was sent in the direction of the fancy seats.
If you visit park City be sure to check out the Egyptian, there are many performances so you will be sure to catch one. Tickets are available on the door for most shows for a very slight premium
There is a bar! Not all Utah is dull.
Check it out, good clean fun before you eat, drink and behave merrily on the fabulous Park City Main St.
Cool historic venue in Old Town Park City and all the seats in the house have an excellent view. The promoters at the Egyptian Theater get great talent and both shows I've seen were awesome. Saturday, my son and I saw Jackson Cash, Man in Black, a tribute to Johnny Cash. What a show!!! The guy sounds just like the man himself and can he play that guitar. Amazing! Quaint, fun, educational - You know it's cool when your 14 yr old kiddo wants to go hang out with you there and see more shows. Looking forward to The World's Ultimate Elvis Christmas Show mid December. :)
