It's an unassuming little place on the corner... kinda divey but, the food is good and the people are really nice. I really like little local establishments like these...

    Here's the skinny:
    Hangover Cure!
Nothing to it, maybe 3 tables...
    Friendly and helpful employees
Huevos con Chorizo and an über large coffee for $7.22.

    Here's the fat:

OK, OK... so I had a binge drinking night with my uncle Louis... again. Found myself on the floor of his apartment in Whiting and in serious need for coffee and food. I rolled up at about 8 AM and they hooked me up RIGHT over here AND they offered me "Aspirina" - gotta give props for that.

It's a small place, right on the corner of Hoffman St. and Calumet Ave. The inside is pretty small and doesn't offer a whole lot of "visual appeal" but what struck me about here is that for an OLD building in Whiting, IN they kept it pretty clean. You can easily see into the kitchen area and that was eh... so-so as far as cleanliness goes. I'm not picky when I'm hungover. Food was good and I didn't get sick later, that's what counts.

Upon walking in I was immediately greeted with a friendly "Hola" followed by a whole bunch of words that sounded really friendly but, I don't speak Spanish so... I was lost. OK, random thought - why does everyone automatically think I speak Spanish? Is it because I'm brown??? Anyway though, after ordering my meal and coffee (in Spanglish) I sat down and proceeded to will my head to stop pounding like the drums on "KING KONG" when one of the employees gave me "Aspirina" - ya... Props for knowing what's up!

It's cheap and the portions are nice! I wanted a cup of coffee and some eggs, paid $7.22 and didn't think I'd be getting much.
Out comes the coffee, it's HUGE! like a half pot of coffee! oh and it had this awesome hint of cinnamon. It was a simple coffee, no frills or anything but, it was so warm and comforting.
When the Huevos con Chorizo came out, it was massive... almost to the point where it was overflowing the box! (I asked for it in a to-go box). It was pretty darn good too. Again nothing super special but, the eggs were fluffy(ish), chorizo was flavorful and not overly greasy, in general everything had a good flavor and wasn't over-seasoned or had that "just throw it together" feel.

If I'm back up that way, I'd definitely go back. I really liked the folks and the food was A-OK.
