Me likey! Â
What did I order? The goat stew with rice and beans and a salad. It was really, really tasty! Definitely a must-try. The meat came right off the bone.
One thing I must note is that the food came out about 45 minutes after we ordered. That is not cool. We were starving at that point, lol!
The server was okay, don't expect the service to 5 stars here.
I'd definitely return when I'm craving Dominican food. :)
Actually, I'd say 2 and 1/2 stars is about right. Â The food was good...not great, but good. Â The goat was tasty and tender, which is not always easy to do but the mofongo was just all right, nothing to write home about. Â The service was pretty atrocious. Â Nothing to get mad about just pretty slow and not particularly friendly. Â Our waitress made sure to tell us in advance that business would be slow because she was tired. Â I found it expensive for dominican food. Â We had a http://restaurant.com coupon for $10 and we were four people sharing two meals, no drinks, no dessert and it still came out to be around $27. Â Dont think we will be back.
Review Source:this is the 2 time we have gone to this restaurant...first experience was bad..raw chicharroles de pollo, and very slow service .we were 3! I promised I will never returned...a year or two passed and today someone mentioned this restaurant and the 17 of us agreed to go...BAD CHOICE!...
First of all they were NOT prepared for such a group..Second they took forever to ""start"" taking our order......then after an entire hour of wait they finally served ""half of the group"""....I was there in this half......we finished eating and the rest of the group including children had not been served yet....very slow service...not a GOOD attitude...and then to top it off....they did not have 2 of the desserts they had on the menu.....
Finally after almost 2 hours the rest of the group was served......we asked for an extra DIet COke...never received it.....I really mean it this time...I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT TO ANYBODY AND OBVIOUSLY AND WE LL NEVER BE BACK......
Oh, and then the waitress said she will not charge for the cuban coffee due to the delay on the food..WE DID NOT HAVE CUBAN COFFEE!!!! lol
Even to pay we had to wait a long time......nope...not anymore!!
Worst restaurant I have ever been to! They had horrible customer service, everyone is too caught up partying than serving you. They dont bring you bread or water unless you ask them to. When ordering dishes you cant ask for the plate how you prefer it to be cause it's not "dominican" and then the "dominican" plate lacked flavor and the food was all burned. The waitress didn't ask me if i wanted to order anything, I had to scream for a waitress after 20 minutes of waiting. Never go to this place!
Review Source:I went to this place last night and I would say this was one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had. The customer service was completely horrible. I never had a waitress come and serve me water without me asking for it. When I enquired about dishes they wouldn't really explain it well and called me an american just because I didn't know dominican dishes.I never had anyone even come up to me to ask me if I even liked the food or if I would like to order anything else, all of the waitresses were too busy partying an singing. When the food arrived the table I was totally disappointed, the chicken was all burned , the plantains weren't ripe and everything lacked flavor. Â Best tip I can give you is to never to go this place!
Review Source:When I was suggested this restaurant I was reluctant to go, good Dominican food in Miami is like finding a Chanel dress at marshals. You can find one but it won't be pretty. So I went one night and what a shock. We walk in and the meringue is blasting, they have Presidente beer posters by the bar and I thought I smelled plantains frying.
The food was amazing the quipe (buckwheat fritter with meat inside) was perfect. The first bite took me to 1996 house party. Then we ordered the picadillas a mix of fried meats cheese and tostones. I was instantly back in time at the high class Dominican country club of my youth on the Island. I order the Mofongo with Chicharon de pollo (mashed fried plantains with fried chicken chunks) my wife got the Mondongo (tripe stew) all I can say is I can't wait to go back. Great prices, great food and close to home this place will help me gain that weight my doctors have warned me about and for that I will always be thankful.
Go see for your self and if you see me there send me a drink, just no autographs.
We went to try this restaurant as part of our delicious Dominican food in Miami quest, and let me tell you I believe the quest is over! Â My husbands' co-worker recommended this restaurant and I am considering letting her name my first born. Â That's how delicious the food was here!
When we walked in there was merengue music playing and the familiar smell of Dominican cooking in the air. I felt as if I had walked into my abuela's kitchen! The décor was nothing special; they have these plastic placemats that make the place look cheap. Our waitress told us to sit anywhere and as usual we picked a small table for two in the corner. We opened up our menus and were surprised at the large selection of traditional Dominican food with cute names using different Dominican cities.
As an app we had a quipe and the picadillo. Â A quipe is a buckwheat fritter with meat on the inside and is usually prepared as a finger food for parties. Â The minute the quipe touched my taste buds I was transported to every childhood party I ever attended. Â This quipe tasted like home and it was delicious! Â The picadillo was a nice surprise because this is something you usually only see in the Dominican Republic. Â It was a platter with an assortment of fried goodies. Â It included tostones, fried cheese, longaniza, and chicharrones de pollo and pork. Â I could've been done right there but we had already ordered entrees. Â My husband had the traditional pork mofongo with fried chicken chunks and I had mondongo (tripe) soup. Â
The food was great and the price was right. Â As we were walking out the kitchen door opened and I saw an older man in the kitchen and I knew that's why the food was delicious. Â This man looked at home in this kitchen and that's always a good sign.
