Eva's Pancake House

Ohh pancakes how I adore you! This is a super cute place with fun colors and casual interior.  The parking is weird and it is located outside of Pendleton a bit, but we decided to try out the cakes.

These were phenomenal. They were fluffy and moist - magic in my mouth! I ordered the Hawaiian pancakes, which comes 4 to a stack and slathered with strawberries, fresh pineapple and banana slices, as well as a heap of whipped cream and walnuts. I was stuffed with this tropical heaven in my belly! My hubby ordered the plain-Jane old fashioned cakes and they were quite yummy per his review.

The staff was super nice! Fast and attentive. My only beef is that I was chilly the entire time. Other than that, this place is worth the drive.

I drive past this place every day going to and from work.  Every morning I note there are lots of cars in the parking lot.  So, today I was finally in the area during late breakfast  hours and decided to stop in for a bite.

This is clearly the place for some American style comfort food.  There is a dizzying array of breakfast items on the menu, from the standard eggs and fried breakfast meats, to pancakes, and crepes, skillets, and scrambles - oh my!  There were croissant sandwiches, omeletes, frittatas, and biscuits and gravy.  No excuse for leaving this place hungry.  Indeed there were very few people of normal bodyweight in the place, which is not necessarily an indictment of their fare but rather a commentary on the state of the average American...but I digress.

The hostess and wait staff were extremely friendly and attentive.  My coffee cup was full from the time I sat down until I cried uncle when signing the check.  This place has the hometown diner feel, completed by paper placemats and local advertisements on the coffee mugs.

The food arrived quickly and was hot.  My eggs were cooked perfectly.  The rest of the table all enjoyed their fare.  The pancakes were good as were the biscuits and gravy, scrambles and skillets ordered around the table.  Good reports came back from the crepes, although they weren't really the classical take on the dish.  What was striking and consistent from plate to plate was the enormous portion size (so maybe the average size of their clientele is correlated...but correlation doesn't prove causality).

Decor isn't fancy, but good service, tasty food, ample portions at a reasonable price will likely bring us back again.  It's nice to have a locally owned business to support!
