The Reese's cappuccino is must!!! A great place for meetings, birthdays or just an amazing cup of coffee.  Check out their vintage pinball machines.

We heard through the grapevine that Fortville had received an answer to a long awaited request, and this answer came through the opening of a coffee shop located right in the center of downtown at 226 South Main Street. There was a vast selection of drinks and desserts available on the handwritten menu board, so tonight, Terry ordered a  Large Peppermint Mocha and I ordered a Large Pumpkin Piesy Mocha. We ordered four hot chocolates for the children. Upon entering the establishment, we were immediately greeted by the staff on duty, whom we would eventually find out to be the owner and his daughter.

When entering the business, we felt warm and toasty, comforted by the smells of a bakery and coffee shop entwined in a beautiful flavorful marriage. The lighting is soft and  balanced with the calming colors of brown and yellows in the sitting area conjoined to the ordering area. The children were delighted to find a couple tables with checker board tops, but disappointed to not find game pieces available. Our table had a complimentary newspaper awaiting our arrival, but upon careful inspection and dismay of the children, there was a section missing that encapsulated the comics.   We had little trouble getting them to occupy themselves, which is probably credited to the laid back setting of the room. There was a flat screen tv mounted on the back wall, on with the volume down, and various signs and fliers located around the room advertising local business and recreational events. Another couple was in the room with a toddler, who they had creatively boxed into their corner by stacking chairs on their sides to form a makeshift playpen.  Both Terry and I assumed that they must work there to take such action with furniture, but found out when our daughter requested a restroom that they, too, were just customers who were perhaps a little too presumptuous in their treatment of the property of another. Before the children could become antsy, we quickly received our drink orders and the children eagerly drank them.  The owner surprised our children with chocolate covered treats, which were complimentary because we were there before closing as he was clearing out the bakery stock from the day. Everyone agreed that they were delicious, and much appreciated, because we are a family on a budget, and drinks alone were already a treat.

Because Terry inquired about a restroom, he was rewarded with the realization that there was another room located en route to the restroom, full of old school video games and pinball machines and even a pool table. A selected few were in operation and on free play, which the owner explained that were part of a plan for a game room where for a low fixed fee, customers could have free reign of the room to delight in nostalgic game time. The owner than explained that there was another area being planned for on the opposite side of the coffee prep area where children, 12 years of age and under, could play on bouncy houses and there was going to be a Wii available with every game created on it. The owner explained that they wanted to open the coffee shop because it was ready to go and they wanted to gauge the interest of the community. He kindly offered to allow our children to try out any machines that were on in the game room free of charge, an offer in which the children energetically accepted. Seeing the old game machines from the birthing era or arcades brought back memories of younger years, when during our childhood, the video arcade at the mall was the place to be for all kids. Not wanting to take unfair advantage of such a welcoming host, we limited the children to playing a couple games, but knew that when the place was up and running, we would gratefully pay the flat affordable fee for them to play so we could take some time to talk or collect our thoughts.

We gathered our things, and what was left of our deliciously prepared drinks, and prepared to exit the building. The owner, who was taking advantage of the quiet of closing time by cleaning up, was at the doorway to graciously wish us a good night and to inquire as to our satisfaction as customers. We told him that the drinks were prepared better and at a significant savings than the competition and the baked goods were wonderful as well. We assured him that we would tell everyone that we know that they need to come to Java Junction in Fortville for great coffee and food in a welcoming environment at an affordable price. Sam, our second born son, summed it up the best as we left the place and the door closed behind us, that Java Junction is the best coffee shop that he has ever been to, and we all agreed that he was right. We look forward to going back soon and  becoming regular customers.
