Top Notch Cafe

This place has been around forever.  I was at the library today looking thru old Pendleton Times newspapers from the 30's and even saw it advertised back then!  Except it was called Compton's Post back then.  When I was here last October it was called Eva's Pancakes, in the summer of "97 it was called "The Post".  Someone told me it goes back and forth between the Post and the Top Notch.  Who knows why.  

I was pretty impressed with my lunch, which was a breakfast item.  Thank goodness for places that serve breakfast all day long!  I had the Corned Beef Hash with Eggs and Hash Browns (and toast--too many carbs at once for me).  It was very good.  So good that I came back for a late dinner about 8:30 after I got kicked out of the library when they closed.  I got the roast pork and it was delicious--very tender slices of pork loin with gravy and a pretty good dressing under the meat.  It came with two sides, and I got the potato skins (which I had to get a take-out box for) and applesauce , which was perfect accompaniment to the pork loin.  I hope to get back to try the chicken salad croissant sandwich.  

The only negative was they charged me too much for the meal, but that was quickly corrected.
