I can't believe there's a Korean restaurant literally in the middle of nowhere. Â As someone who knows Korean food, this place isn't particularly good and the kimchi varies in freshness depending on when you go. Â There's not much of a selection. Â The dolsot bibimbap is usually what I go for and the Ojingo Bokum would be another one of my favorites. Beggars can't be choosy, If you're from Lexington and want Korean fast, I'd say this place is A-OK, however if you're up for a drive and want a better selection, I'd say go to Wonju in Roanoke.
Review Source:Such a bizarre little place... the location and decor are incongruous to Korean cuisine - place needs either a complete reno or a good cleaning - yet the food was sizzling good. Short ribs were meaty, and the bulgogi tender and nicely seasoned. The kimchi is spicy but won't blow your head off. Overall, a nice experience.
Review Source:Really good!!! Don't be fooled by the ramshackle appearance of this diner. Inside, it serves pretty good Korean food. The freshly made dumplings are steamed and doughy or fried to perfection. The bibimbop  dishes(hot or cold) are scrumptious and great spicy! By far the best is the beef bulgogi. Juicy and succulent with the perfect amount of crispy bits. This family owned eatery has exellent service as well. The waitstaff was attentative, friendly, and quick.
Review Source:Not sure what the buzz is all about. I eat Korean food regularly, and this is mediocre at best. I guess people are excited for any food choices out in the wilds of Virginia, because honestly, this place would be out of business in a week in Fairfax, with our incredible variety of Korean restaurants.
We stopped by for an early dinner on a Saturday and we were one of two parties in the restaurant. The service was nice; the menu was very sparse, with my least favorite thing-a mix of Korean, Japanese and Chinese offerings. Stick to what you know please. I went with a veggie bibimbap, which not many restaurants make. It was nice, just what I wanted after a few days of heavy meat eating. Basically, I got a big bowl of various banchan, and some rice. My wife got galbi, which were coated in a nice sauce, but were tough and gristly. My daughter's chicken teriyaki was the weakest dish, consisting of greasy fried rice, rubbery chicken, and store bought teriyaki sauce. Hello, the 1970s are calling. They want their food back...
I'm not sure that you can do better in this neck of the woods, but maybe it's worth the 8 mile drive to Lexington to try. My bill came to $41 with tip for truly mediocre food. Honestly, Chick Fil-A would have been much better.
Look past the run down exterior and head in for a great dinner. We are accustomed to fine dining and never would have stopped here if the reviews weren't all so great. The staff appeared to be a father daughter team and were very kind and attentive. The dad-chef came to our able twice to check on us. Clean surroundings. Don't expect decor though. We had the Gyoza fried dumplings. Delicious and home made with lightly cooked greens and finely chopped meat. My husband had the aforementioned squid and found it very spicy. My beef bulgogi was awesome. The child had chicken tempura appetizer and ate it all. All the food was fresh and sizzling hot. A diamond in the rough!
Review Source:driving back and forth on I-81 in virginia, the absolute last thing i expected to see was a sign for korean food! Â my boyfriend and i stopped around 3pm to eat. Â despite the "odd timing" of our stop, the food was freshly prepared, and the owner was so nice and talked to us about our trip. Â he explained what the different items on the menu were, just in case we didn't know what everything was.
we ordered the mandu dumplings (steamed) for appetizer. Â now THESE are some homemade dumplings! Â plump and piping hot! Â they reminded me of the kind i used to make with my korean grandma.
my boyfriend got the pork bulgogi and i ordered the squid bulgogi. Â the dishes came out sizzling on cast iron skillet pans. Â the pork was delicious and spicy, just like good korean food should be. Â the squid had a nice spice and a slightly sweet taste too, and it was yummy and chewy in all the right ways. Â rice came with both of our dishes. Â we got two generous bowls of kimchee and pickled radish to go along with the meal. Â i also had a cup of oolong tea that the waitress refilled with hot water a few times for me.
it's too bad i don't live in natural bridge, but i can assure you anytime i am passing through i will stop and eat there. Â (i can't stop thinking about that squid!) Â for all the non-korean food eaters, they also had chinese, japanese, and "american" dishes. Â another family that was there was ordering chicken wings...so there's plenty of variety. Â excellent customer service, restroom was very clean, and literally right off the interstate.
We stopped to see the Natural Bridge, and were looking for a late lunch afterward. Â I was actually going to another diner down the street I found on Yelp when we passed this place. Â So glad we stopped! Â Terrific Korean food with a friendly owner and fast service. Â So fresh and delicious, yummy ginseng or oolong tea too! Â There are also other Chinese, Japanese and American items on the menu, if others in your party are not into the Korean items. Â Korean entrees come with miso soup, kim-chee and pickled radish(daikon). Â Definitely not your average diner! Â Give it a try, I'm surprised it wasn't on yelp before this. Â Not far off the exit to Natural Bridge, even if you are just passing through the area.
