My family came up to Burlington while on vacation further south. We spent the day and stopped into The Farmhouse because of a local bookstore owners recommendation. It was super crowded and told the wait was 45 min. we were given a pager and we waited in the beer garden they have out back. The wait was accurate. The staff was very pleasant and you can see into the kitchen. The cooks were working hard to get the food out. Our food was fresh and delicious as they use all local produce. The restaurant is very loud as it is a former (Golden Arches ), very open. It's a fun place to have a nice fresh dinner! A nice selection of local beers as well.

My boyfriend and I came here on our way home from a stay in Stowe, VT. We decided to swing through Burlington and check it out and found this place on Yelp. Good Beer and Good Cheese? We're sold.

I got the Vermont Heritage Grazers Pork, which had cheddar, sunny side up farm egg, coleslaw and fries or greens. I love anything with an egg cracked over it. My boyfriend got the black bean burger, assuming it had beef in it, which it did not. I tried it though and thought it was delicious and he was happy with it. The fries were really good- I hate when you go somewhere and have a hankering for fries and they're gigantic and soggy and that was just not the case- these were great. They even had house-made ketchup, mustard, garlic aioli, and hot sauce.

We each got a beer as well; I can't recall the name of mine, but it was refreshing and had ginger as a prominent ingredient. We were both happy with what we ordered. The beer list is prodigious, to the point of having a glossary. Highly recommend taking a look at that thing.

The host was very friendly and the servers were nice. The farms where they get their food from are listed on chalkboards on the walls, which is pretty cool. Everything is locally sourced.

    All in all highly recommend.

PS, Wish I'd known about the bar downstairs, but it was the middle of the afternoon anyways, so oh well. We'll be back!

PPS, Really wanted to try that Vermont Cheddar Ale the last reviewer spoke of. Maybe its seasonal?

Just had a fantastic meal here - arrived at 6 and no wait - excellent wine, fantastic service, and amazing food.  Just wonderful and one of my new top ten restaurants in the world.

Had the raw oysters and then mussels.  The latter came with french fries and aioli, perfectly made and served.  All food was served timely, with no wait.  My husband had the pork schnitzel, and he was very happy too.  Two cheeses on a plate for dessert, yummy!

So, the prices are a bit high, but that it what it costs to get real local, happy food instead of factory-chicken and California arugula...  I rather pay a bit extra and get a memorable meal that I know will provide broad sustenance to the local community.

For those of you that complain about the wait - this is a popular restaurant that doesn't take reservations after 5 PM.  Live with it or go somewhere else.

Loved the decor, the efficient service, and the general feeling of this place.

I came here twice during my short stay in Burlington, once to the restaurant and once to the bar downstairs. The first trip involved 5 people and dinner. Despite the crowd we were given a pager and a seat at the bar. Our table was ready relatively quickly and the service was great. I had a veggie dish of corn cakes and kale and salad with beets and goat cheese. Both were fantastic!!!!

The best bite of the night came from the couple of mussels I knicked from my son's plate. These babies were PEI and huge!!! I will definitely return to the Farmhouse the next time I'm in Burlington.

I came here while visiting on my last day in town.  There was a 45 minute wait to sit outside, but we were able to get our group of four seated right away.  The vibe inside was great; the outside looked great as well.  The service we had was really good, the server was really knowledgeable.  We started with some beers and a cheese plate....we ate up that cheese super fast, it was great!  I got the Vermont Cheddar Ale - INCREDIBLE and the Kale & Arugula Salad - also delicious.  My friends all enjoyed their food as well - burger, Vermont Heritage Grazers Pork and the Spring Quinoa.

If I come back to Burlington, I will absolutely come back here. If you live here, I don't know how you couldn't come here for every meal!

LOVE Farmhouse. Wonderful burgers. Gluten free options. Great beer, hard apple cider, etc. Great service. I ALWAYS have a great experience there. Love the beer garden, too. I've had "food snobs" visiting from out of town and I took them here and they LOVED it. Really great place!!!  Great for a romantic date or a big group of friends/family! Go farmhouse!

One of the BEST restaurants I've been to. My husband and I dine out alot and have never been as impressed as we were with this place. We went here on a Tuesday night for dinner in July and there was a 30 minute wait. We got a couple of very reasonably priced and super tasty craft beers and hung out on their cute patio. Once we were seated, we had a couple of appetizers: blue cheese garlic toast and chicken liver mousse charcuterie and for dinner we had the angus beef burger and Mac and cheese. Food was out of this world! Service was impeccable from the host/bartender to our sever. This place was so good, we went back for more the next day!

Fantastic! Everything we ordered was delightful.  The Beer garden was open in the back so waiting for a table was easy!  We sat outside for dinner and It began pouring down rain that evening. The management and staff were super accommodating and found us a table inside even though they were packed that night.

Awesome place.  The food was outstanding!  The fact that it was from local farms made a difference- the flavors were fresh.  I also really liked that it supports local growers in the area.  The beer list was fantastic.  Our server was great, very helpful in choosing a tasty meal, attentive and food was served quickly.

My only complaint was the noise.  It was a busy Saturday night, understandably (and it was raining out so you couldn't sit outdoors).  But,  we found we were yelling to have a conversation (which you shouldn't have to do at a high end restaurant, bar with a band, sure, but not here). My only request to management is that they put some sound tiles in the ceiling or something.  It was crazy loud in there with nothing to absorb it, to the point it affected your experience.  Please do something about this.

The food was amazing and I will definitely go back- when I can sit outside and not yell over my food.  You should check this place out!

My table had:  goat cheese appetizer(awesome), cheddar ale soup (out of this world), portobello white bean veggie burger (the best he had ever had), and pork veinerschnitzel (sp?). (Fresh, tasty and delicious)!

This place. Thiiiisss place. We found our way here after a drive from Boston and landed a sun-soaked spot out front on a 75-degree afternoon.

Somehow, it got better from there.

My wife and I got the farmhouse burger and cod (we split) and both were out of this world. The burger was juicy and tight, and covered in delicious cheese and perfectly cooked bacon. The cod was light, airy, and fresh. The tasty fries and homemade condiments were superb complements.

Service, great. Beer list, great. Hell, even the pouch that the check came in was cool.

I'd go back in a second.

Wait, wait! The dessert! How could I forget the dessert? We had the s'more -- a mix of salty caramel, chocolate, and toasted marshmallow. Sound good? It tasted even better.

Again, I'd go back in a second.

Limited but delicious menu and amazing beer selection, but they unfortunately lose one star from me for service. Our waitress only re-appeared after we were already done eating and I had to have someone else get her. The s'mores dessert special was easily the best dessert I've ever had in my life though. I would go back the next time I make a stop in Burlington!

"I won't be returning unless I hear the venison burger is on the specials list"
The food and service were alright, although I was unhappy with the limited menu selection. I wanted something to start with, and didn't see much to choose from. The cheddar ale soup was delicious but not what i was looking for. Mainly because I was really friggin hungry. The service was decent, a couple minor mistakes (forgotten sauce, and a rushed attitude on a slow day) but our server was cheerful. My burger was overcooked but I was hungry and don't like to waste food so I ate it and it was still enjoyable (im not that much of a snob).
The beer... oh the incredibly expensive beer... I understand its high class and exclusive but I have been to many a taproom and seen few that were this overpriced. Inflation aside, I felt like I had been tricked when I first saw the glass I received.. for $8.00 a glass you should get a pint.. anywhere. If it hasn't been aged for years, (I know some beers are, but not these beers) then I won't be paying that much. Id rather go to any other establishment within a stone's throw (vermont pub and brewery, ken's, scuffer, 3 needs etc..) and get the same type of top quality brews there, even though they may not be served in a fancy glass. Actually I can go to Das Bierhaus and get a 20oz german import, some of the finest in the world for the same price.. AND IT COMES IN A FANCY GLASS. All Im saying is there is better elsewhere, your paying for "atmosphere" at farmhouse, and thats kinda weak.
Now the first line mentions the venison burger.. its delicious and worth going back for again and again when it is available. But you can be sure all ill have to drink is water.

So, when this place first opened, we pretty much rushed through the door and were quite disappointed. Back then, I probably would have given it two stars without a second thought. But now, having gone back a few years later, I'm very pleased with the improvements.

Even on a warm Saturday night we didn't have that long of a wait. We spend the wait in the beer garden, as it seemed to be the thing to do. This was the right choice, and even better, they serve half sizes of beer from a massive and well curated selection of brews. Not to mention they understand which glasses will serve the beers best and do not compromise this even at the half size.

We were seated outside in the front, which was a much more pleasant experience than being seated inside on a nice day. It's quite dark inside, and I didn't feel like I would have enjoyed myself indoors on a sunny June day.

The menu is small but tastefully done. There were several interesting salads available, a handful of small plates/appetizers and a few varieties of soups. We opted to have the hummus which was flavorful but a bit oily (some of the oil had seperated from the dip, which made it ever-so-sligly unappealing. But I was hungry). The fennel crackers it came with were obviously house made (though I believe it specifies this on the menu) and crisp. Even if you don't love fennel, which I don't, it's very subtle and in offensive. Upon our waitress's recommendation, we spiced it out with the hot sauce in the condiment basket...it really did take it to the next level.

The house made bratwurst was pretty tasty, and I liked that they had sliced it lengthwise to grill it. I do that myself, because some of the grease will cook out of it, and it gives a beautiful charred surface. The sausage was well spiced and meaty. It's not a Johnsonville Brat, so if that's what you're expecting, look elsewhere. The only thing about my entree I didn't like was that there were random chunks of fried potato in my greens. It seemed like an odd thing to do (and I lived in Pittsburgh for a long while! They put fries on salads down there. But it's not mixed into the salads, just on top). I had no idea what to expect with that. I would have rather had them seperated, and have an actual salad...but that's just me, I guess.

My boyfriend's LaPlatte Burger looked pretty tasty, and he confirmed it was. He opted for the fries, which I, of course, stole a few and can confirm that they were quite tasty as well. I had my fries with the house aoili. I seem to recall the first time we went there, our fries came with a variety of aoili which wasn't the case this time, but I can't complain because I still would have opted for the classic.

The food is quite solid here, and I think a pretty good value. What they have is well prepared, and I really enjoy their attention to detail. Maybe it wasn't all what I expected (the hummus oil, and the potatoes in my greens) but I have no major complaints and our plates were practically licked clean when we left.

My final note--and the reason I knocked it to four stars (I was waivering between 4 and 5), our waitress seemed really grumpy. I'm not sure why...a smile would have gone a long way. But beyond her scowl, she didn't seem to be very attentive. For example, my water glass was lower than my boyfriends, and she filled his but not mine. Then, the next round she was going around refilling water glasses and only had a "splash" left in her pitcher. She gave that to me, which brought my glass up to a little less than 25%. She never returned with more water after that. I'm hoping she was just having a bad day--which would be understandable. If we go back and have good service, I'd be happy to revise this to a 5 star review.

Didn't have a beer, but stuck with water for dinner before the "Bake Off" show at Flynn Space.  After an excellent bacon-wrapped pâté with pickled veggies, ground mustard and toasted Red Hen slices for am appetizer, I enjoyed the beer battered cod dinner. No complaints--and the tartar sauce with Old Bay was a mice touch. My wife and I shared a slice of strawberry rhubarb pie a la mode for dessert. The cup of coffee to stay awake at the show was good enough to have straight up without cream or sugar. The wait staff was efficient., whether delivering or clearing dishes, and our waitress was especially pleasant and charming. All good, though a tad pricey. By the way, the show at Flynn Space was hilarious.  I didn't really need the coffee to keep me awake.

I was in town on business and fortunately had a few friends in the area at the same time.  We are all beer drinkers so it was an easy decision to check out the Farmhouse Tap and Grill.  Overall I thought the experience was very solid.  Most know that they offer a wide selection of great beers. I started out with the tomato soup and would go so far as to call it some of the best I've ever had.  My friend had the kale and arugula salad and from my perspective it was equally impressive.  For my entree I ordered the  turkey burger.  I am always a little hesitant to do so because I've had more than my share of dry boring turkey burgers over the years.  I'm pleased to report the Farmhouse managed to avoid that issue and delivered a juicy and delicious burger.

I should note that this place gets really busy.  We waited close to an hour for a table in the middle of the week.  However, the beer garden proved a great place to get warmed up for dinner.  Might also be worth noting that you will pay a few extra dollars in comparison to other pub/tap houses, but the quality of the food and the beer is apparent.   My only gripe would be with the layout/feel of the main dining area.  Tables are a bit on top of one another and it doesn't really have the feel of a tap house, but that is likely a personal preference issue on my part.  I would go back.

Holding with a four-star review ONLY because I've not had a full meal there yet.  Worth stopping in any time I'm in Burlington as the offer some really wonderful beers and great atmosphere.

The experience I've had has been in the downstairs tavern and this weekend in their outdoor biergarten!  Very knowledgeable staff, fast friendly service and the menu features a locavore's delight of great gnoshing.

I have mixed feelings about this place. The bar is excellent. They serve a variety of local microbrews on draft. The staff (especially the ones upstairs) are very knowledgeable about the drinks they serve here. The pricing of the beer is also very reasonable compared to some of the other bars in town that serve microbrews. They also serve half pints so you get to sample a variety of beers.

What really turns me off about this place is the food. Great presentation of the food but most of the dishes are mediocre at best. Onion rings look pretty awesome (big onion rings lined up perfectly on a paddle like wooden board). Crispy but pretty bland. They also try to replicate some menus that are found in "trendy" gastropubs like bone marrow but they just taste OK. Once again, they are pretty flavorless and bland. The prices are pretty unreasonable too. 15 dollars for an OK burger? No thanks.

If you are from out of town and have been to decent gastropubs, you'll be disappointed.

Great fresh food! Like most Vermont eateries, most menu items, if not all, were locally grown and/or organic. The homemade ketchup, mustard, and hot sauce were all very good. I ordered the burger which tasted like your typical burger, yet the cheese, onions, and mushrooms were tasty and unique. My mother order a portobello white bean burger, which she said was fantastic. Overall, the wait staff was friendly, but they may have forgotten our oder because we waited a long time and customers who arrived later than us received their food very promptly; moreover, my burger was a bit cold.

This was a really great find on a hot almost summer day! We sat comfortably with the AC on full blast indoors, but there is a nice outdoor seating area at the front of the restaurant and a beer garden at the back. Quite an extensive beer draught menu to choose from along with many other bottles of beers, wines, and liquors - all in a locally VT made leather notebook which even included a glossary of terms for those not so well versed in alcohol terminology, perfect!

Our waitress was very kind and hospitable. We were served a complimentary dish of some cucumber salad with beets - delicious on a hot evening! Then came the oysters - I am not one to judge with never having oysters before, but my boyfriend was a huge fan! Finally, my entree was to die for - the pork burger served with Cabot cheddar, sunny side up farm egg, and coleslaw.... yum! Lots of flavor and the egg was a nice touch! I ordered a side of fries - very good, especially with the homemade ketchup (a bit more sour than the usual Heinz, but still delicious!). I did taste some of the house side salad from my boyfriend's entree and that was delicious as well with the house dressing.

Highly recommend for anyone looking for a nice meal with significant other or friends/family! Will certainly recommend to anyone visiting Burlington!

Traveled up to Burlington Vt from the NYC area for the KeyBank Vermont Marathon and I ate at Farmhouse two days in a row.

First day, late lunchtime. Got their basic burger, 1/2 fries, 1/2 salad. Sounds simple, right? Well, it was the most beautiful burger I have ever tasted in my life--it actually tasted like meat. I was blown away by the burger. Fries, tasty crunchy and a little spicy, not at all greasy. Was about $12 bucks.

Second day for dinner, post marathon. Ate at the bar. This time, tagliatelle with pan seared chicken with broccoli rabe. Again, sounds pretty simple. But the pasta had some heft to it counterbalanced with the slightly crunchy vegetables. Chicken was juicy and in paillards, very nice.

Both days the place was heaving with people. Both days the outrageously long sounding wait (45 min, or an hour +) turned out not to be nearly as long. The staff were all super nice and ready to please.

    That's 5 star to me!

Came here on Mother's Day with a friend and found it to be pretty packed. I wouldn't have recognized this place to be a McDonald's until I looked at the tile flooring. But man, is this place a great find in Burlington. The scrambled egg on my pork burger was divine. And the fries were crisp and not too oily. Good beer selection as well. Can't really go wrong here.

I wanted to like this place more than I did...and I bet that if I were able to come back a few times, I'd figure out what FarmHouse does best.

I can say this: the beer list is awesome.  If I lived closer, I'd come here for the beers, and this would probably bump up to a 4 star review.  I liked that you could order half pints... I ordered one and was accidentally brought a full pint, but only charged for the half.  Good customer service.

We were there for dinner the night before the VT marathon, so the runner was pretty hungry and we were all hoping for a not-too-long-and-drawn-out experience.  Instead we waited for about 45 minutes (our fault, since we were at the front of the line, opted to go somewhere else, regretted it, and then came back).  You could eat in the basement off a limited menu of burgers, but we wanted the entrees.

To start we all shared the hummus, which was nice.  I wasn't totally blown away by it, but I was hungry so... we ate it.  Our group had 2 orders of the cod, 1 order of the bratwurst, and 1 salad as an entree (the arugula/kale salad).

I enjoyed my cod, which came with a half order of salad and half order of fries.  It also came with a little container of coleslaw.  Overall, plenty of food and I was able to give some away to the marathoner.  It wasn't the best dish that I've eaten, but it was done well.  The brat meal was surprisingly sparse (by my standards)... I thought that it would come with more food on the plate.

The person who ordered the salad really liked it.

The only downside was that our meals took foreeeeeeever to come.  I know it's pre-marathon night and it was busy, but we were really surprised by how long the meals took.

So... overall thoughts... everything seemed pretty good, but I'd have to return to bump this up to 4 stars.

    2.5.

I've been here twice, once for brunch, and once for dinner, and the food is mediocre. Considering all the crazy hype that attaches itself to the Farmhouse, the food is frankly really disappointing.  The vibe and decor of the restaurant are also a little bit disconcerting - more like a hotel lobby than a farmhouse.  We were seated at a two top on the far wall, and there was a line of at least 10 tables extending along the wall.
Instead of creating a spacious and comfortable dining atmosphere, they pack tables in in order to make as much profit as possible. The result is that you feel like a cow at a trough as opposed to a couple enjoying a nice dinner.

other than one obligatory "how is everything," our waitress was apparently too busy to check on us again.  My husband's empty water glass was ignored.

It seems that they sacrifice quality for quantity. This eventually will result in a serious decrease in the quality of their image, which is for some reason already so esteemed.

Even though Farmhouse Tap & Grill came along after I had spent 4 years at UVM, I still think of this restaurant when I think of the amazing, warm, environmentally conscious atmosphere Burlington has to offer. Whenever someone asks me for recommendations in B-town, I always immediately say this place. Fantastic, classy environment that is laid-back at the same time. Downstairs is a great area, perfect for dates. Back patio is great, also perfect for dates! Inside and outside of the restaurant...perfect for any kind of meal.

Veggie burger w/kimchi = best burger in the world! And the fries with several options of homemade sauces? To die for!!!!

    I LOVE THIS PLACE!!!!

Great FARM TO TABLE restaurant in Burlington. Had passed by this place a couple of times and was intrigued, especially seeing the people outside enjoying their food during the summer and seemed to be having a great time. I don't think i gave this place enough time on my first visit, yes we did stay for an hour but it was right before my flight back to NYC and i mean i didn't really rush through my meal but then again i didn't really savor it like i usually would, so i definitely am going to be back soon.

Really loved the decor and set up of the place, especially the main bar, it definitely attracts you to want to sit and have a drink talk to the bartender and also interact with the other people sitting at the bar, that's exactly how you need to set up a bar!! (WELL DONE FARMHOUSE)  Upon sitting down an older gentleman greeted us and left a little piece of paper on our table which seemed to be the special of the day, also told us it verbally as well, maybe he is the owner or an investor?  Don't know but he was very nice.

I got the LaPlatte River Angus Farm Beef Burger with a side of Hand Cut Fries and a Founders Breakfast Oatmeal Stout Beer (which went down extremely smooth) and was perfectly paired with the Burger.  My meal was absolutely superb and the service was tremendous. Very cozy and laid back type of restaurant, felt like i was hanging in a local bar at home where i knew everyone, portions of food also very generous and large. Great place and even better to go when it's the summer because you get to sit outside

After a day of some chilly but invigorating skiing, my friends and I walked into the Farmhouse hungry for something GOOD and maybe even feeling a bit fancy under our sweaty snow gear.  The ambience was rustic and warm.  The bar had nothing but an array of fancy beers and top shelf whiskey, including my favorite Yamazaki 12 year served with a giant ice cube, as whiskey should be served.

The waitress was very helpful with suggestions on what to order for our cheese plate, which came with 2 condiments that beautifully complimented our selections.

We all ended up ordering the burgers but they were DELICIOUS.  Super tasty and wonderfully cooked.  It was the kind of deliciousness that you end up remembering for days after.

This dinner will certainly stand out in my memories of this trip.

Love this place! Great atmosphere and the bartender was exceptional (we ate at the bar).  Had the kale and arugula salad with buttermilk herb vinaigrette, spiced pecans, sliced Vermont apple and Jasper Hill Blue Cheese (the cheese is $1.50 extra and totally worth it). I also had a freshly baked biscuit with jam that was light and flaky. My husband had the burger and fries and he said it was fabulous (I tried a french fry and it was really good, especially with their house made sauces). They have a good selection of local beers and I recommend the Trapp Vienna amber lager.

Dropped in here for a quick bite (30 min parking meter outside)

Great selection of beers. Interesting selection of burgers (my pork burger had a sunny-side up egg on top). Large portions. Nice atmosphere, didn't feel like the college crowd.
Tad expensive for what you get, I thought.

Service was good, almost snappy. I would come here again when I am on Church Street.

we also had the tomato soup, which was made from real organic tomatoes - perfectly tart and SUPER filling!

i would definitely recommend coming here - you will NOT be disappointed!

Great food and ambience.  I ate in the down stairs portion of the restaurant which has a limited menu, but offers creative dishes that promote Vermont's local farm produce and organic foods.  The beet appetizer with goat cheese was a nice opening dish and the turkey burger was delicious.  The turkey portion was overly generous and tender throughout.  My favorite were the dipping sauces to pair with the fries.  Mustard, ketchup, garlic mayo, spicy chipotle...

There is also a bar with many local brews and a fire place.  You can't go wrong with a fireplace.  I highly recommend for groups of friends looking to relax after a day on the slopes!

So many reviews already... wow. Well, the Farmhouse was everything I expected and then some. I visit Burlington once or twice a year and this was my first time. I have been coming to VT since I was a child and two things that have always been synonymous with it are "Organic and Local." This place has just that. They list all the local farms that their food is acquired from and what it is they offer.

Their beer selection is off the chart AND the atmosphere gives you that mom and pop feeling which is again, one of my favorite parts of Vermont.

Our server was attentive, polite, and a very genuine person which is another characteristic of Vermont that makes it so amazing.

I had the steak special which was a generous portioned, aged,  mouth-watering, slab of goodness. Ah, incredible.

Lastly, they make their own sauces and their own KETCHUP! I mean come on... they have the love for food people. Try it out!

I think this place is amazing! They really do commit to serving you only the best fresh local foods.
We started off with the special (local) cheese board of soft cheeses and everything was really good. I can't remember the names of the cheeses but I think the selections vary often. The bartender recommended a great beer choice to pair with the cheese platter as we sat at the bar to avoid the wait for a table. We shared a Farmhouse meatloaf and a beef burger and both were delicious and cooked perfectly. The house wine choice was also very good.

For dessert we ordered the Chocolate Stout Cake which was a delicious way to end our meal :D

Downstairs they have a little hangout for enjoying some appetizers & beers while you wait for a table.

Last time I went to The Farmhouse I got their mac n cheese and beet salad and fell in love!  They are both delicious.  I had been here before and gotten a burger which was good, but not anything spectacular.  I love that these guys are so driven on staying local and keeping business in VT.  That's so important!

I'm not a beer drinker, but everyone that I know raves about the beer that they get when we go here.  My only complaint is that the amount of food you get in a serving is quite small considering the price of the food.

My first experience was tasteful, I had ordered the LaPlatte Burger ~ $14.

After arriving we had waited way too long to sit down, however the downstairs environment was cozy enough to make it tolerable. Service was just OK. Beer selection is extensive. Dining atmosphere was pleasant.

I liked this place. The beer selection was on point, the service was good and the food was good as well. You have to appreciate local ingredients used in the proper way, and homemade condiments? I mean come on!

    Service:
The service was great. He was attentive, helpful for our hundreds of drink/food questions and was courteous & prompt. My friend ordered their meal with quite a few specifics and he ensured they were correct.

    Food:
I ordered the chili, and while I love chili, this was somewhat subpar. It honestly just needed more flavor. All of the ingredients were there, but it fell flat.

I did end up putting some pickled jalapenos into it and it really livened it up (which, by the way, if you like pickled things & jalapenos, get them!).

The chili came with a side salad and small slice of artisan bread. The salad was  nice, it had a good dressing on it. The bread though, man! It was awesome, I couldn't get enough! It was perfectly crisp and helped add something to that chili.

My friend got a veggie burger with Kim-chi and fries. The fries were outstanding but I wasn't a big fan of the veggie burger. She said it was one of the best veggie burgers she's had, but only after she scraped off the Kim-chi.

    Atmosphere:
We sat at a bar table and were near the windows. I would imagine this place would be awesome in the warmer weather with the garage doors opened up and the street noise coming in. The lighting was nice, wasn't too crowded or too empty, and I appreciated the simplicity of it.

When I'm back in Burlington, this is on my 'might try again' list. I'd likely go for a beer or two, but probably not for lunch/dinner again as there are too many options.

I now feel equipped to review the food at Farmhouse (since I finally got to eat here!)

First of all - if you go, and don't get the cornbread, you are a fool.  That corn bread is amazing.  Melts in your mouth, equal amounts sweet and savoury, and it comes out piping hot.

We also split the cheese plate - got the blue, which came with a honey-cherry compote and toast wedges.  I would have liked the toast a bit less... al dente, and I'm not a huge cherry fan, but apart from that I really enjoyed the cheese.

For the mains, husband got the burger and I got the mac and cheese.  His fries were out of this world, and I did have a burger bite only because I knew it was local and grass fed, and it was very, very good.  My macaroni was cooked perfectly, with house made breadcrumbs and cheesy goodness.  My one semi-complaint were the onions.  They were well-cooked and flavourful, but they took over the taste of the dish itself.

Of course the beers on tap were phenomenal - husband got a maple porter, that I almost liked (NOT a beer girl) because of the mapley aftertaste.  Their on tap Citizen Cider is some of the best cider I've had.  Crisp and fruity, not too dry, not too sweet.

Service was great.  Our waitress did her best to accommodate my random pepper allergies.  The restrooms are clean and there are plenty of stalls.

I honestly can't wait to come back to Burlington and return to the Farmhouse.
