This place had the feel of a "dive bar" from the moment we walked in to continue our meeting and do damage to our livers. Reasonable selection of beers on tap and the waitress was properly puzzled when someone ordered a glass of wine. We took one of the high top tables in the center of the room and stayed there though a couple of rounds before some opted to head home and others went for a walk to get sober enough to drive. Prices were pretty decent.
Review Source:I'm typically not a huge fan of chains, but this one is relatively local so I'm in! Fat Belly's is a great Irish pub with frequent live music, a good selection of beer on tap and a fully stocked bar. Their food is also decent. What made me want to review Fat Belly's though is that the East Greenwich location stayed open during Hurricane Sandy even without power. Their commitment to hurricane brews is something to be touted!
Review Source:I've realized as I've gotten older that certain things appeal to me more than before when deciding whether or not I like a restaurant/bar/etc. One of those things is how they handle a busy night - with this I realize that Fat Belly's EG is just not equipped for a lot of people, which is unfortunate, because I don't forsee myself going there ever again on a Saturday night.
I appreciate the attempts the place made for my party of 6 to be sat at a table, but the place has about 10 total, plus a bar area, all of which were taken. We stood awkwardly at the end of the bar, hoping for the promise of seats only to stand there the entire time we stayed at FB. We left after 1 drink because they simply couldn't accommodate us (or anyone else for that matter).
I have nothing against Fat Belly's as an establishment, as I rather like the chain. That said, if it's a peak night go to one of the larger locations (Coventry, Providence, Warren) and you'll have a much better time.
