Ribs-no smokey flavor. Not flavorful. Just tasted like boiled ribs with sauce on top.
Brisket-very fatty. Not smokey. Tasted like Lipton onion soup roast beef rather than BBQ brisket
Turnip greens- just gross.
BBQ beans- alright, except for the hair in it. Ew.
Cole slaw- bitter. How do you have bitter cole slaw?
Mac n cheese-soupy and gross.
I wouldn't recommend this place at all if you want real BBQ. To top it off everything was COLD.
Roadside BBQ located behind an auto parts store off route 460 - what could possibly go wrong? Â And with a name like Fat Daddy's BBQ, I knew I had to try. Â Expecting a dark, dirty, dank country interior, I was surprised that the roadside shack had spotless, clean white walls, which reminded me of new, fancy, overpriced city condos. Â (No tables inside, picnic benches outside.) Â Just as surprising, the Best BBQ in Bedford County isn't on Yelp yet!
The $6 Brisket Sandwich had a generous helping of very tender chopped brisket on a hamburger bun. Â Topping the lightly salted brisket is a choice of sauces, and I really liked the slightly vinegar taste of the spicy bbq sauce.
The $15 Half Rack of Ribs was fall-off-the-bone tender. Â There wasn't a strong smokey taste, as they use an electric smoker. Â The wet rub - more like a thick batter - had a strong herb taste (thyme, rosemary?), which I didn't like particularly like, and I spooned it off. Â The BBQ Beans were a bit sweet for my liking but had plenty of simmered meat. Â The Mac and Cheese was thick and chunky - good but not amazing. Â The mini corn muffins were just-average, bite-sized cupcakes.
In hindsight, I should have gotten the $20 family meal with a pound of the deliciously tender meat, two pint-sized sides, and corn muffins to be a true Fat Daddy.
