My wife & I went there on a whim and came away very impressed. I didn't expect nor did I want a fine dining experience. It's a college bar and a pretty good one at that. The deep-fried string beans we had as an appetizer were delicious! My wife had a tenderloin while I, feeling a bit more adventuresome had the peanut butter/bacon burger. Both items were absolutely first rate! One of the best burgers I've had in this area. Service was very prompt and courteous. The name of our waitress escapes me but she was very very good. If I were running a restaurant I'd hire her away in a heartbeat. If you're looking for a place to eat on a football Sunday I'd definitely recommend this place. Good college/sports bar/restaurant.
Review Source:I had the worst experience I have ever had in a restaurant. Â My wife and I go here every now and again because they have decent pizza and beer pretty cheap. However this time I had decided to order their cheese steak sandwich. My second bite into the sandwich I bit something hard. I had to spit I out. When I did, I was shocked to learn what it was. A SCREW! There was a metal screw in my sandwich! Needless to say, but I will not be going back.
Review Source:I do not visit here expecting fancy cuisine. I am here for Buzztime Trivia, beer and darts. That one of the proprietors and her "chip off the o'l block" daughter are great people operating a local business despite Illinois' suffocating economic climate is a worthy bonus. I've had a burger for lunch and a cheese steak sandwich for dinner and both were perfectly fine. It ain't fine dining, and I don't want it to be. It is bar and grill fare done appropriately for its genre.
