Don't let the outside fool you - this place is VERY good. Â With a couple of improvements it will earn five stars, and I will certainly be back to update it when appropriate.
After seeing it on Yelp and wondering if maybe it was closed for years or something, I called to find out where it was. Â Turns out it's on the main drag from Baldwin into Cornelia across from the Skyland motel in the building where a bakery used to be. Â I pass by there all the time and never knew there was a seafood place. Â They SERIOUSLY need a better sign.
Anyway, we went in late (8-ish) on a Wednesday night before a holiday and were the only patrons in the place. Â It was hardly impressive from the outside, to say the least. Â We nearly passed, but I said "the worst it can be is awful", so in we went. Â I'm glad my dire prediction was wrong. Â But it was an inauspicious start - we were quickly informed that the only drinks were water and sweet tea, there were no oysters (no loss there for me), and they were out of clam chowder. Â The menus were really cheap laminated paper.
My daughter loves Tilapia, which she had grilled and licked the plate. Â My mom had fish & chips; she loved the fish and was ambivalent about the chips. Â My sister's popcorn shrimp was OK, per her. Â The hushpuppies were a hit with nearly everyone, though I thought they were a bit greasy. Â
But the Asian fare was a real hit. Â As with everything there, the eggrolls are made from scratch, and they are excellent. Â And they have Pho. Â In Cornelia. Â My GF loves Pho. Â So we each had one: beef and seafood combo. Â And they absolutely rocked. Â
We got to talking to the chef, who studied at Le Cordon Bleu in California. Â How she wound up in Cornelia I can only marvel at, but am thankful. Â She has an obvious talent and affinity for good food. Â They are in the process of revamping the menu and starting a lunch buffet. Â We'll be back for more. Â Soon.
