Very good burgers. Â The menu is simple and basic - burgers, cheeseburgers, bacon cheeseburgers, hot dogs & fries.
The service is "step up to the counter and order" like a fast food place. Â I had thought it was full service before going for my first time, now I know better.
But the burgers were very good. Â The fries cooked in peanut oil. Â Peanuts available for munching while waiting for your order. Â The chairs were all wood & hard.
The food, however, can easily make up for any of the above shortcomings. Â Burgers were fresh & juicy. Â Not perfect, but very good!!
The soft drinks are self serve with refills. Â They have those "design your own soda" with all possible flavors, such as Diet cherry vanilla Coke and grape or peach Sprite. Â Lots of fun!!
We will be back again. Â 'Nuff said.
This is a very small place with a very simple menu - burgers and fries and let me tell you when you get an order of FRIES you get a HUGE order of fries! Â You get the choice of single burger or a double and then pick the cheese and other toppings which are included with the cost of the burger which was a nice bonus any where else they charge you an arm and a leg for toppings. Â Back to the fries they put the order in a bag and so when I went to get my order - I literally stopped in my tracks and yelled HOLY CRAP this a a HUGE order of fries. Â Now when I am bad and eat french fries - freshly made thick cut fries are my joy of joys. Â I looked at my friend with shock at the amount of fries. Â A few days later I was talking with other friends and they were shocked that I ate every single heart attacking causing fry but with a greasy grin of joy. Â They recommended next time to share I gave them a look of shock and horror - step away from Ramble's fries.
Review Source:Went to five guys for the 1st time last night. Â I have not been there because I had a pre conceived notion that it was going to be an over priced burger. Â Well the prices were not as bad as I had thought they would be . Â I loved that the toppings were free and they included grilled onions and mushrooms! Â My hubby and I stayed there to eat which was the part I disliked the most. Â Since this restaurant is located in a restaurant area you would think it would be geared towards having people stay and eat. Â The Burger comes wrapped in foil. Â I opened it and it was a huge burger. Â the cheese however was not melted yet. Â When I took one bite the whole thing fell apart, not good. Â I ended up eating it with a fork which is not how I want to eat a burger. The music was extra loud I got annoyed trying to yell conversation to my husband. Â I would eat there again but probably only once a year.
Review Source:I've been to 5 guys in UP mall about 3-4 times but it's been awhile since I've been back so I decided to give it a go and write a review.
Going in I had a very favorable opinion of 5 guys, having been there on a few occasions before. I brought my wife with me for a quick dinner date. it was her first time with 5 guys. I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger with Grilled Onions, Mayo, lettuce and ketchup. She ordered a Cheeseburger with "everything".
When she started on her burger it was the biggest mess I've ever seen on a burger. I "get" what they are trying to do with the foil wrapping, but in this case it didn't do anything to help her perception that this was a "dive" hamburger joint. Although it was a little sloppy she thoroughly enjoyed her burger.
My burger was fantastic. The best part for me was the bun, it was VERY fresh, and soft. The burger was seasoned to perfection! Â I don't know If i would go out on the limb and say that 5 guys has the best burger (although zagat and numerous other places have as they conveniently remind you at every turn), but it's really good none the less.
I think one of the reasons that has kept me from coming back is the mental perception that it was expensive, and tonight's dining experience didn't help that mental block. Although the burgers were great, I would say they were about $1-$1.50 overpriced. Another frown on the experience was the noise level. The music was so loud it was difficult to have a conversation with my wife without feeling like we were shouting. That's unacceptable for any dining establishment whether its "fast food" or "fine dining"
Overall if your looking for something quick, and a little bit different then your average fast food fare, I recommend giving 5 guys a try. It might not be the best burger you'll ever eat but they'll do there best to convince you that it will .
It is what it is -- Hot Dog Heaven! Best dog ever! Obviously you go there for a quick meal, not expecting a 'fine dining' experience. Next time, I'm having two! Didn't order any fries because their small order is enough for 2-3 people. Greeter was super friendly and helpful. A fun atmosphere. And did I say...BEST DOG EVER!
Review Source:I got all stoked up about going here and was quite let down. Â The burger was nothing special in the slightest bit. Â Standard fast food meat, tasted about the same as Hardee's or BK. Â Fries were better than fast food - good potato flavor, but I agree with the other reviewer that they wimp and gimp when handled like a fry should be handled. Â Prices are same as sit-down burger joint and you can't get beer.
I'm pretty bitter about the place...
Since moving to michiana, I haven't had a good burger. Any recommendations - please message me.
One star for the Guy who decided to make all toppings complimentary (Mine was a little cheeseburger with ketchup, mustard, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and grilled mushrooms)
One star for the Guy who thought it was a good idea to list out where the day's potatoes came from (somewhere in Idaho (obvi) when we ate there). Â Cool!
One star for the Guy who wanted fresh patties from high-quality beef.
One star for the Guy who spoke up about having "souffle cups" for the ketchup instead of teeny paper thimbles. Â Thanks, Ketchup-loving Guy!
One star for the Guy whose cheeseburger and fries were so good I didn't speak for the entire meal.
Love this place... I come here at least once a week and it is always busy. Â I get a regular bacon burger (two patties well done and juicy with apple smoked bacon), cajun fries (which are great with malt vinegar) and drink for about $10. Â Great value if you ask me since a meal at McDs is about $6-7 these days. Â I'll pay the extra $$ for quality and Five Guys portions (two patty burgers are filling and regular fries serves two people) any day.
I recently heard Five Guys was rated one of the top burgers in Chicago and had the best fries in all of Chicago too. Â That's an impressive feat for a chain restaurant. Â I'm just glad we have one here so I don't have to drive to Chicago every week.
Everyone on Twitter and Friend Feed were raving about @Fiveguys. Â Saying it rivaled In N Out. Â SO when I saw one I immediately wanted to try it.
Meh, it was good, but the buns were soft and not grilled very well. Â The "fresh" fries were brown and wimpy.
I was not impressed. Â Glad to be home in Los ANgeles to get a real burger meal from In N Out.
Also, it was small and cramped and LOUD!
While in town for ND's graduation, my husband and a friend and I decided to try Five Guys. I'd seen good things about it on Yelp and was eager to taste these burgers.
Let me tell you, they were quite delicious. I got a "little" cheeseburger (which is really just a normal cheeseburger) with grilled onion, pickle, tomato and mustard. The three of us shared a large fry, which was huge. The burger was juicy, with just the right mouth-feel of fat without being greasy, and very flavorful. Love the variety of toppings. The fries were fresh and hot and great with a little malt vinegar. I had been under the impression that cajun was standard, but it's not, so we'll try that next time.
And there will be a next time, because I am now a fan of Five Guys. I will say this, though -- it's not cheap, which is why it doesn't get five stars. The burgers are large and tasty, but for two burgers (one regular, one small), a large fries and two drinks, it was almost $18.
Still, it was mighty delicious and fresh and tasty... so I will be going to the Chicago area's Five Guys when we want really good burgers fast.
Friendly service and phenomonal food: an ideal combination! Â The burger is one of the best I have ever had, and the bag that they put the fries in seems never-ending. Â Even though all food is made to-order, the service is quick and it's clear that Five Guys' priority is to make your experience as enjoyable as possible.
I can't wait to go again!
