It's always a "special occasion" at Flemings and it's our first choice to treat visiting family and friends. Â We especially enjoy $6 food in the bar during cocktail time and the prime rib dinner (3 courses!) on Sunday evenings. Â The service has been impecable. Â We also enjoy dressing up a bit for the casual but cozy environment.
Review Source:We used to love this place and made it a point of having dinner there  when we were in town. No more. Tonight the food was terrible and so was the service. We had the prime rib dinner and lobster tail. The dinners were supposed to be split in the kitchen
They weren't, but they must have put the lobster on someone else's plate because we only received half of what we ordered. And then there was the prime rib. It was chewy, fatty and not cooked properly. They served three kinds of sauce with it, but even those could not improve the flavor. The sides we ordered, asparagus and mushrooms were also far below expectations. They would not allow us to substitute a third vegetable instead of the dessert. Well ok...except it took the waitress 15 minutes to bring the dessert menu and 15 minutes after that we just left. Two hundred dollars later and my husband is on his way to Panera to bring us a new dinner. Very disappointing. But to be fair, I have to say the carpaccio appetizer was excellent. We should have quit there.
Chicago,IL
My wife and I have gone to Flemings several times. Â The service is outstanding and the food is excellent. Â The prime rib special is outstanding on Sunday nights and the app specials are great. Â We HIGHLY recommend this restaurant. Â We are tough critics and love both the atmosphere and the menu.
Review Source:Food is very good but pricey. A baked potato will set you back $9.50 - which is crazy expensive. The good news is the food is very good so while you're going to pay an arm & a leg for it you won't go away hungry. Our service was spotty with our waitress striking up lengthy conversations with other tables trying to be friendly but left us waiting for our dessert way too long. This also carried over when we were waiting for our check. When the check finally came it was wrong (BIG error in our favor). We were honest about it and flagged the manager who took care of it right away.
Review Source:Excellent service and food. Â Only complaint was the feeble attempt of being technology cool....the new wine/desert menu thingy on an overly bright ipad is kind of stupid. Â Only benefit is being able to update your in-house wine list on the fly if needed. Â Also I did not see any "No Weapons" signs. Â This is a requirement for me to dine/shop at businesses. Â Be sure to order one of every side dish. Â They're all awesome.
Review Source:Staff were more concerned with watching the Packers game on the TV than doing any work. This is supposed to be a fancy restaurant - why do they even have a TV on? We were seated at a table next to a party that had a baby. Ours and theirs were the only tables that had customers in the whole place - why couldn't they give us more space? Why did they have to seat us so close to the other party that our chairs were touching? Between the large party next to us and the Packer game, it just was not a good atmosphere. Food was small portions and overpriced. Bad experience with getting the wrong drink, but didn't bother to complain.
Review Source:My favorite steakhouse in Milwaukee. I've tried to love other steaks in other restaurants, but none seem to compare. The sides are all amazing (love the half and half). The prices are a bit high but you definitely get what you pay for. The servers are well trained and attentive. It is very clear that this is a company that values it's customers.
Review Source:I would call this place: "expectantly fancy and pricy". Â Let me explain.
Expected: Â prices are high, wait times can be long, and the food is prepared well, served flawlessly, and tastes great. Â Overall what you would expect of a fancy steak place. Â Doesn't disappoint.
Fancy: most people wear casual dress, are there for occasions or on dates, or show up to be treated by courteous serves with vast selection of wines. Â Mood lightning at dinner time and that smooth jazz in the background.
Pricy: Yeah you see it coming but in the prices defense...the food does measure up. Â I would stick to what they do best: beef.
The best way I can describe Fleming's is with that old saying about trying to put lip stick on a pig. Â This place is just over-rated period! Â It looks nice and fancy on the outside and the inside, but that is the beginning and end of it. The serivce is mediocre and the food is second rate. I had the lobster tempura and it tasted like someone had just thrown a bucket of salt on it. Â Â The grade C minus food is not worth the A plus price. Â And to be totally honest with you, I'm not sure if food this lame is good at any price.
Review Source:I was here with my parents a few weeks ago, and we had a great meal there. Â We had reservations - and it was nice to hear the person taking the reservation ask "Are you here for a special occasion?" Â It wasn't, but still a nice touch.
I wasn't drinking, but the rest of my party had wine. Â My wife and mom had the special sangria. Â I tasted it, much too sweet for me, but they both enjoyed. Â We didn't order appetizers, but we had salad's. Â It was good - they brought cold forks to use, which I've never had before. Â
For meals, people ordered the NY strip, the sunday prime rib dinner, lobster tail tempura, and calamari. Â My prime rib was very good, but not great. Â I felt like there was a little too much fat on it. Â The calamari was pretty solid. Â My step dad said his NY strip was great. Â But what seemed to be the real highlight of the table was the lobster tempura. Â My mom is still raving about it. Â For the sides, my Flemming's potatoes were real good, and my wife's mac and cheese was definitely spot on. Â I got dessert with my meal, and took some peach cobbler to go. Â We wanted to take my parents to Kopp's :)
Service was good - very friendly and they always made sure I had water. Â I'm real interested in going back and trying their happy hour menu.
We liked the six 'til seven deal in bar area: 6 small plate appetizers @ $6 each and lots of wines and cocktails for $6 each. The brie in puffed pastry with Gala apple garnish, the large shrimp cocktail & the margaritas were very good. This is quite subjective but we felt that the lighting was unnecessarily low in bar area and in the dining room. I wasn't sneaking in with someone I wasn't supposed to be with; a little more light would be fine.
Review Source:I have been to this location several times. Â The food is very good. Â A bit pricey but not terrible since most items are Ala cart. Â I would recommend this restaurant, however, if you are looking to have a business meeting it can be a bit loud during peak hours. Â I would recommend the private dinning area if you group is large enough.
Review Source:I'm not necessarily a steak eater, but when I do order a steak I expect it to be melt in your mouth good. Â Flemings is the place to go for this! Â I ordered the main cut along with green beans and peppercorn mash potatoes. Â Everything was spectacular and nothing disappointed. Â Dinner for two ran about $170 for two people with tip, but well worth it. Â Decor is comfortable and dark, and the service was polite and personable.
Review Source:Had dinner there last week and it was fantastic. The manager (Chris Wilson) was welcoming and helpful and the wait staff and chefs did an excellent job. Everything was delicious. I would especially recommend the prime bone-in ribeye and Fleming potatoes. We will definitely be going back.
Review Source:The power of the spoken word may create a quandary for diners with so many choices. Â You listen to friends that tell you "I highly recommend xyz" or "It is not worth the money." Â The latter was shared with us during a conversation about Fleming's. Â These words were so powerful that we crossed the restaurant off our list. Â Why try an expensive restaurant when there is the possibility of being disappointed? Â Sounds foolish. Â What is more foolish is not experiencing something for yourself and missing out on [potentially] a good thing. Â Such was the case here. Â My husband and I received a gift card for Fleming's, so we chose to finally use it yesterday evening. Â As much as you should respect a friend's opinion, do not let it be the deciding factor. Â I make that statement, because our experience at Fleming's was splendid from start to finish. Â I was very impressed by their operation, and this is a chain restaurant. Â They train their staff well. Â From the moment we entered, and the young lady smiled and greeted us with sincerity, I knew we were dealing with staff that took pride in their work. Â Our coats were checked, and the other hostess sat us in a booth--that was requested on Open Table--that was nicely tucked away from the floor. Â It was surprisingly intimate in a bustling restaurant. Â That mood was created by soft lighting and dark woods. Â It was dim enough to make the atmosphere romantic, but also allow you to see your food. Â
Our feelings about the staff were reinforced by the two waitstaff (Joey-main & Guillermo-second) that serviced our table. Â Smiling, informative, attentive, and perfectly timing their appearances made for a 5-star experience. Â The missing star is because I have yet to experience Eddie Martini's. Â I cannot say Fleming's is the best until I experience what is known as "the best steak and service" in metro-Milwaukee. Â My husband had the steak, a Prime New York Strip, requested medium. Â It was perfectly prepared with its cool pink center. Â He said that the fat was nonexistent in a very thick cut, and yet the flavor was all there. Â He liked that it was a tasty, no frills steak. Â Fleming's does not need to coat their meat with rich sauces or charred crusts to create flavor. Â Their meat speaks for itself. Â Their ahi tuna spoke to me. Â I ordered it rare atop a fresh vegetable salad. Â Amazing, bright flavors that added a crunch to the buttery tuna. Â As a small plate, it could stand alone, and leave you room for dessert. Â Unfortunately, I could not try Fleming's famous molten chocolate dome. Â I filled myself with my small plate and the "half and half" of onion rings and shoestring fries. Â The onion ring batter had flecks of herbs that added a tasty crunch. Â I could continue to expound, still, on this Fleming's outing, but I think you should experience it for yourself. Â White table service in a chain should not be underestimated. Â Let my review be the power of the written word that persuades you to try AND enjoy this Brookfield indulgence.
My husband, mother-in-law and myself had an excellent experience tonight. The food was fantastic - from a starter of baked bree, to the house salad, to the steaks and a myriad of sides - seasoned and cooked to perfection. The waiter - Joe - was polite, friendly and phenomenally efficient (as were a number of others walking around with water and cleaning the tables of plates). It was a wonderful evening. We really don't spend much on dining out, and this was an expensive trip for us - but it felt like every penny was well spent. It was an excellent experience, as I said earlier. The only fault I can think of is it was a little loud at 6:30 in the evening - hardly a surprise. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Review Source:I had the pleasure of working with Fleming's Brookfield / Waukesha in Sept 2011 for one of my monthly Dynamismo Business Networking Events. The management, staff, and event coordinator were extremely professional and the hospitality was spectacular! Fleming's has a great happy hour menu for both food and wine. I highly recommend them for your business and social events.
Review Source:I have not been to a restaurant in Milwaukee with this good of service. My husband took me here because he had been to one of the Flemings Restaurant out in Hartford, Conn. and raved about the service there. We had a couple problems with items on the menu & when we told the manager, who had stopped at our table to see how everything was, he immediately took care of it & took one item off the bill. The chef also then came out to our table & spoke with us. Amazing!!!! This doesn't happen in Milwaukee. We usually have to go to Chicago to get this good of service. We'll be back. Great job Flemings. By the way the Walnut Chocolate Pie was to die for.
Review Source:Since our first visit, we've been back a couple of times. Â I can't put in words how much I love this place! Â I feel that the servers and bartenders go out of their way to make sure you feel welcome, special. Â The food (this time we changed it up a little and got the mushroom ravioli for an app and mac and cheese for a side--sooooo good!) is always amazing! Â I used to get steaks, but the king crab is the best I've had in Wisconsin!
If you haven't already, you definitely need to try it!
I know, I know - it's a chain. But we went here for Easter brunch and it was really good. My entree was a filet Benedict - slices of filet on a biscuit with poached eggs & hollandaise. It was good, the filet was a little bland but tender. The star was a side of turkey sage sausage - so good. Service was outstanding, on top of it but not obnoxious. As others have noted, Flemings is not cheap but we had a very good experience.
Review Source:Went here on a business outing a few days ago and ordered the New York Strip, Fleming's potatoes, and a Caesar Salad. I have no complaints about the food. It wasn't the BEST steak I've had in my life but it was pretty tasty. The order of Fleming's potatoes was HUGE, my advice is to split it. Don't order the potatoes if you are lactose intolerant, there was probably more cheese in the dish than actual potato. Â The caesar salad was a bit of a letdown and I would try something else if I went back.
My business associates all had the special - a filet with scallops or shrimp. I think mine looked better, the filet was quite small and the shrimp looked like they were covered in some sort of brown sauce. However, no one had any complaints.
Service was top notch. The only thing lacking was atmosphere. Fleming's is a chain and that's what it feels like. I like the vibe at the 5 o'clock club or Tornado Room (Madison, WI) a LOT more.
Prices are high. My NY Strip was 40 and did not include any sides. Expect to pay 70+ per person if you order drinks.
Yes Fleming's is a chain restaurant but I didn't feel like that was a bad thing at all when my fiance and I did dinner Valentine's weekend. Â The wine list is huge. Â I picked a lower priced Pinot Noir since Lucy was paying and I didn't want to give her a heart attack when the bill came. Â Our server was attentive yet not annoying. Â The food: Â now I'm a bit of a foodie so I tend to be ultra picky, but Fleming's blew me away. Â I ordered the porcini rubbed filet mignon with grilled asparagus spears and a gorgonzola cream sauce. Â Bravo!! Â Nailed it! Â The center cut filet was cooked to my specifications and the sauce was dreamy! Â I also ordered a side of the Fleming's potatoes...the house specialty with cream, jalapenos, and cheddar cheese. Â These were so good that Lucy insisted I find the recipe and make them at home. Â Dessert was a shared red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting and two chocolate covered strawberries. Â Sweet but not overly filling. Â Just like it should be.
Yes you will pay more than your average steak joint in Milwaukee, but I felt like it was worth the extra money. Â Not only for the care they take in making delicious meals, but also for the experience of a restaurant staffed by people who care.
Rafael  was our outstanding server!!  He took great care that our entire experience would be wonderful.  He was very personable, informative, knowledgeable.  When we asked if one of the Valentine Meals for 2 could be ordered as a single, this was not a problem.  Our food, as in the past, was sooooo delicious!  We savored absolutely each and every item placed so gently in front of us!  Rafael surprised me with a box of 4 fantastic truffles for my birthday which is also on Valentine's Day!  This followed the decadent Red Velvet cake with chocolate-covered strawberries.  The bonus touches like the Cream with dessert and the complimentary tuna on cucumber were so delightful!  We also never felt rushed on such a busy evening even though we enjoyed a coveted booth.  Awesome dining experience!
Review Source:Barely two stars. Â
This place is insanely expensive for what it is. Â Their steaks just aren't that good. Â Other chains (Mortons, Capital Grill) have much better meat. Â
Service was ok but I did get the wrong cut of steak. Â They comped us after-dinner drinks for the mistake. Â
Expense account? Â I guess its an ok place. Â
Your own money? Â You're wasting it.
Fantastic every time. Â We have been there on multiple occasions and its always terrific from the second you walk in and they check your coat right through dinner and dessert. Â Service has been impeccable regardless of what you are eating, which should be expected, but isn't always the case. Â My wife and I have had a few of the monthly special dinners for two, we've tried the prix fixe menu, ordered a la carte, and had the happy hour specials in the bar. Â My absolute favorite is the bone-in ribeye and the Fleming's potatoes (but don't rule out the mac and cheese...mmmmmm). Â Need to make another reservation after I finish this review!!
Review Source:You are paying here for service, ambiance and the food *is* better than that at the Outback. If you want the rustic experience, then go to Outback.
Excellent service, which is refreshing. No less than four or five staff attended our table. The server was attentive, but not bothersome. The manager stopped by and greeted us to make sure we were happy with the dinners and service.
Food very good, NY strip and Fleming's filet wrapped in pastry. Hubby liked my filet better than his strip steak. My filet was perfectly done and flavorful with madeira sauce. The sides are normally not included in the price, unless they are running a special. Â My dinner was about $40 with sides and a dessert. due to the special. Soups and salads are plentiful and delicious. The Fleming's potato side is awesome, better than a twice-baked, full of flavor.
If you want to make steak at home, use the PBS (Cook's Illustrated way) using stove top first then finish in the oven. NY steak is reasonable at Costco, average about $8.50/ea. NY strip. Â Hubby never grills a steak any more, since he's so satisfied with the oven-method now. Â .
Desserts offered vary and included molten lava cake (which takes 20 min. to prepare), key lime pie, cheesecake w/blueberries, ice cream and creme brulee.
If you want a special night out, then prepare to spend $100 to $125 or more for two dinners. We will probably only go back once or twice a year at those prices. Overall, we were quite satisfied with the menu selections and when we go back, we may try the seafood.
This restauant needs to be closed. Â I have dined numerous times for business and they have all been terrieble. Â A meal that take 2.5hrs and not by design is no fun. Â Choosing dessert can add 45 minutes to your evening when you are ready to go home.
I have dined at a number of Flemings and this one has poor food, terrible service and just an overall horrible experience. Â
Recommend to try some different than this chain...
Fleming's is owned by Outback. Â And for the price, save yourself the money, you can get a much better steak and meal overall at Outback. Â For a high end steakhouse, it's very disappointing. Â This place charges what the Capital Grille and Coerper's 5 o'clock club charges and is not anywhere remotely in the same league.
Review Source:This biggest problem I had with this restaurant was that nothing was exceptional or outstanding. I had the bone in rib eye. The kosher salt and black pepper seasoning was a little bland and unoriginal. The decor was upscale but uninspiring. Also the decor is very similar at other locations which contributes to a chain feeling. The bar does have some good deals from five to seven if you just want to come here for a drink.
Review Source:We went here for drinks and apps on a Friday night. Â The bar was pretty packed, as they have great specials on wine and apps ($5?!) until 7pm. Â The crab cakes and tenderloin carpaccio were incredible. Â I highly recommend Flemings for a great happy hour. Â When I have had dinner here, the staff was excellent and attentive. Â I'm not usually a fan of chain restaurants, but Fleming's gets it right.
Review Source:I have been here twice. Some aspects are great, some not so great.
Their 5 for 6 until 7 happy hour special has a list of cocktails, wines, and appetizers that are discounted until 7pm on weekdays. It's a great selection and a wonderful way to dine on a budget at a fine restaurant. The Beef Carpaccio was outstanding, the tuna was devine, the calamari was perfect. The wines offered for $6 were nice (14-Hands Cabernet was a hit for me).
I ate dinner there once and had a surf-turf special - filet and stuffed lobster tail. Also got the scalloped potatoes (excellent !) and asparagus (perfectly cooked).
So far - everything is perfect. Here's what knocked 'em down from 5 to 3 stars. The filet with my surf-turf was not thin and overcooked - I ordered Med-Rare and it came closer to Med-Well.
If you're going to charge $30+ for a meal and call yourself a "Prime Steakhouse", you need to get the steak cooking perfect.
The manager came by, apologized, but didn't take anything off the check in exchange. I think that's wrong for a place of this stature.
The service both times I went was superior. We ate in the bar area at a table the first time... great service. I ate there tonight and just had an appetizer and some wine... the bartenders were fabulous.
I'll go back - for the happy hour special, and maybe a more standard cut of meat on the menu (rather than the 8-oz filet that came with the lobster tail). And for the service.
As a Chicago transplant, I've been spoiled by the many fancy steakhouses around here so I had my reservations about an upscale steak chain operating in suburban Milwaukee... Â
I was pleasantly surprised to find that Flemings does a great job with creating a fine dining atmosphere. Â The waitstaff is very attentive, they tolerate big parties with children, and the cuts of steak are good. Â None of the standard steakhouse sides (mushrooms, beans, potatoes) were boring to the taste and their knowledge of their own wine selection completed the experience. Â Throw a dart at the menu because it's all good.
Flemings has a bunch of locations throughout the U.S., and this particular one is located about 1/2 hour outside of Milwaukee. Â Being the carnivore that I am, you pretty much can't go wrong bringing me to just about any upscale steakhouse, and Fleming's is no exception. Â The tables were close together and the background music loud, so I would say probably best for bigger groups, rather than an intimate dinner for two. Â We started out with their seafood "tower", which is this enormous display of chilled shrimp, lobster, & crab legs & claws (there were six of us at the table, and I would say it serves 6 to 8). Â We also had the carpaccio, which melted in your mouth, and might have been the best I have ever tasted. Â My lamb chops were perfect, so tender, and the mint sauce they served them with had a really unique and delicious flavor. Â I also tasted the Rib Eye, and that was good. The room is dimly lit with dark wood throughout. Â The staff is on the younger side, but were really attentive and good. Â A solid four stars for Fleming's. Â Oh, and a great wine selection too.
