Everything was perfect from start to finish. Â The crab cake appetizer was full of crab meat no fillers. The filet mignon with blue cheese topping was cooked to perfection. Flemings potatoes and creamed spinach was delicious. Â Dessert was the chocolate lava cake with fresh strawberries, vanilla ice cream, and a pistachio cookie that left me speechless. Â The service was wonderful. Â Overall a superb dining experience.
Review Source:One of my favorite cousins lives out of town, but often travels to Memphis for business. When he's in town, we like to get together and catch up....on his company's hefty per diem. (But this is *not* why he's my favorite cousin!!!)
Last trip through Memphis, he chose Flemings for our family rendezvous. I hadn't been since my last review (2009!!) and was eager to give the restaurant another shot. Atmosphere is dim, like I like it. We tried the calamari for an appetizer, which was really nice and perfectly cooked. For entrees, I chose the petite filet. The sides (onion rings, baked potato, mushrooms), ran about $10 each and we shared them, family style. If you're not a garlic fan, beware, as many items are overpowered by it.
Not one to look a gift horse in the mouth, it was a fine meal. If I was picking up the tab, however, I'd prefer to do so across the street at Ruths Chris.
From the minute my friend and I walk in the door Fleming's seeks to impress us. An iPad wine menu? Awesome. More awesome still are the wines on the list itself. But I digress, I want to keep this review short and sweet.
We started with the pork belly appetizer: succulent. I then moved on to probably the second best Caesar salad I have ever had. From the prosciutto to the dressing, it was magnificent.
For my entree I had the porcini rubbed filet and it was flawless. Perfectly cooked to medium rare. The "Fleming's Potatoes" were cheesy and a superb accompaniment. We enjoyed a pinot noir, the perfect accentuation of the well-prepared steaks.
Dessert was the best carrot cake I have ever put in my mouth accompanied by Moscato D'asti. Service was impeccable. Of course, the prices were high - this is definitely a special occasion restaurant for me... but in this case the occasion was merely me seeking an exceptional dining experience... and I got one.
