The special last night was Chicago Style Pizza. Â Chef Tony B. cooks it in an iron skillet like you would in Grandma's cupboard. Â I think it's something that can make the cup. Â Not standard traditional Chicago but thick and meaty. Â Â And they have Abita Andy Gator in bottles. Â Purely awesome!
Review Source:This is the "new" location for Neil's Bar. Â The old location on Madison in Midtown burned and had to be destroyed. Â A lot of people, myself included, where surprised that the new Neil's would be in this area. Â I wondered if they would be able to survive so far removed from midtown where they had a loyal group of patrons. As it turns out, they are doing just fine!
I stopped in on a Thursday night. Â The band was great and the drinks were cheap. Â The crowd was the same! Â It's not as dirty or smoky as the old Neil's but somehow, it still feels like Neil's.
Same great Neil's, new location. Â After a fire at their midtown location, Neil's recently relocated to Quince/Yorkshire area shopping center. Â The bar is a great size for large parties, and has somehow retained the same feeling as the old bar, with a divide between the bar area, and the dining tables and pool tables. Â The old shuffleboard table (while singed in the fire) is still usable and displayed in the front window. Â
The menu is unchanged, with old favorites like fried mushrooms with horseradish sauce, and burgers, steaks, and grilled chicken sandwiches with mediocre fries. Â
It is a 21-and-up bar with smoking, though families are allowed during Sunday brunch.
A jukebox provides great music options and keeps things moving. Â Several flat screen televisions show different games, and keep bar patrons happy. Â Ample parking in lot shared by Las Delicias and MemFish.
