After finding out the Charlie Horse had a private party for the Super Bowl (what?) we headed down 138 and decided we'd check out the first logical location. Â This was it and we stayed. Â Although the crowd was minimal and dewindled to just a few people by end of the game, the owner and his staffed showed us a great time. Â Complimentary jello shots after scores and a great selection of new beers. Â The food was good. Â We had started with the Portugesse Egg Rolls - very good.... The Chipolte Honey Wings - exceptional. My friend had a pizza and really enjoyed it. Â I had the Whole Clam special and regreated the decision. Â The clams were too heavily breaded and were over cooked. Â The fries - blah. Â Still - we had a good time and would visit again sticking to some of the other praised food.
Review Source:After the Flying Dog reopened the doors of the previous Centerfield's then Surly Johnson's, I was convinced that it would suffer the same fate as its predecessors. Â A couple of months in, word began to spread in my neck of the woods that the place was much cooler inside & the food was even worth the trip. Â We finally made our way to the Flying Dog with friends one night for dinner & drinks and I'd have to say that I agree. Â Everyone enjoyed their meals...burgers were huge & someone's shrimp scampi, I think it was, had to be taken home as leftovers it was so delicious. Â There are many drink choices & beers on tap. Â Pricing was ok. Â We were just saying the other day how we have to get back here for another round sometime soon. Â Hope the Flying Dog can stick it out...maybe 3rd time really is a charm?
Review Source:This place is a rad little gem in the nowhere-ness of southern Mass. I could do without football on every tv, or all the tvs for that matter. But the beer selection is awesome! And the burger is f-ing awesome!!! My only other complaint is that the waitresses are kinda weird, they don't seem to have great people skills. A small price to pay though for a good brew and burger!
Review Source:My wife and I figured we would give the new place a try. Â That building has been a bit of a restaurant black hole since BB Binks moved out. Â They have a great beer selection and who can beat $3 for a Guinness draft! We had the fried pickles. Â We would have preferred slices instead of chunks, but still very good. Â The avocado ranch dip was very good. Â I had the fish and chips. Â Good fish, decent beer batter(a little undercooked) very good fries. my wife had the margarita pizza and thought it was cooked well and had a nice crust. Â The only issue with the pizza is that it did not have fresh mozzarella as listed in the menu. Â We heard customers at the bar raving about the clam cake sand the Portuguese little necks. Â Overall a good experience and we will br trying them again.
We have been back a couple of more times.  They are getting better with the food.  I had awesome chicken croquettes with perfectly roasted sweet potatoes.  Went last night and had the fish and chips again.  They were cooked perfectly and the onion rings are the best I have ever had.  The also have a crime brûlée beer that is a real treat.
Have only visited twice now, will be back to see if service & food is consistent.
I really hope it is, area needs a place to count on for good service & food.
Don't care about curb appeal. Inside is fine for my dining & drinking pleasure. Sat at hightops near bar. Another reviewer mentioned music playlist, i did notice & did like it.
Ashley very attentive and friendly. (only server i've had so far).
Pizza (especially "Harvest", which was not on special board 2nd time there, but kitchen obliged ) Delicious. Burger a little messy due to spicy ketchup (next time i'll ask for a little less), cooked med/rare as ordered "Tasty". My wife liked Sweet potato fries with Chipote & bannana peppers.
PLEASE KEEP THE MENU SIMPLE... (get frustrated when there are a thousand things to choose from)
I really enjoy IPA's & Pale ale's (something with some flavor). It will be enjoyable/fun trying different ones.
As far as pricing goes,(due to economy everything is expensive). Food prices seem fine as long as the product is good. Beer (a tasty beer) for $4.50 is not bad, considering an average beer at most places is $3.50. Â
Staff: Friendly, Attentive, Obliging = 1 star
Food: Variety = 1 star
Beverage: "Nough" said =1 star
Atmospher/Pricing: = 1 star
                        "Four stars"
I'll return. Â Good selection of Sunday NFL gameday specials with plenty of broadcast. Â Somewhat disappointed with the limited base menu, but where it lacks in quantity, there is some creativity. Â Pizzas are pub style and small, with a baking soda-cookie crust. Â The saving grace for me is anyone willing to carry Southern Tier Pumpking, a rare treat.
Review Source:Was visiting my parents back home in Dighton, which is located smack dab in the middle of a dining wasteland where everything foodie crawls out to slowly languish and die. Not thrilled with the prospect of another classic eat-grease-and-barf night at Curley's Pub (or driving all the way to Providence), I Yelp'd and found this new place in Raynham with the mythical craft beer list.
The place was dead when we got there, but it was a Sunday night in the summer, so it was to be expected. We had a cheerful, attentive waitress who provided us with the extensive draught list from which we ordered - beers were excellent. Dad had one of the many IPAs and I had their White on draught which was very good but of course I can't remember the name.
The menu is basically classic Pub with a twist here and there. My dad and I split the clam fritters and the Portuguese spring rolls and each got a bowl of the house-made clam chowder; mom had the fish and chips. The Portuguese spring rolls were awesome, filled with smoky linguica and kale, and came with this great spicy-but-not-too-spicy Thai chili sauce, and the clam fritters were delightfully doughy and crispy and bedazzled with plenty of clams. Clam chowder was solid and had nice big pieces of clam meat. Mom's fish 'n chips passed the bar - she's a bit of a connoisseur - and the fries were good, though not steak fries like you usually get with fish 'n chips.
The desserts looked yum but we were all little too full and we passed this time. I'd definitely like to try this ice cream cookie sandwich they had on the menu. Next time  I'd also like to try the macaroni and cheese, which sounds just like some of the mac n cheese recipes I see at super trendball places in NYC, and the grilled chicken and pizzas looked good, too.
All in all, I was really pleasantly surprised to find a nice place like this in an area where the most satisfying option is usually the Chinese takeout box. Not the food in the box, but like, literally, the box. Hope more people patronize and keep this place going!
julie..went above and beyond service,,...george gave outstanding service.... food was great no rush..felt like a younger friendly lively atmosphere soo hop.... place is hip and rocking and craft beer...working on that iPod bring own i pod i just say look out amazing..... i wonder whats in store..perhaps outside,,, service, mmmm so OUTSTANDING!!! prices are so inexpensive..as well..nice yummy food..BEST IN TOWN Â NOT A CHAIN!! LOVE IT!!
Review Source:I didn't have high hopes for this place when I first pulled into the parking lot about a week ago, every other business that has been here has sucked. Always the same old thing. Crap beer, crap food and just an overall crappy experience.
Thank god I gave this place another chance.
The layout is pretty much the same but it has a much more pleasant feel inside. There is always a great playlist of cool music and the waitresses and bartenders are always smiling and attentive. The food is also completely changed. There are great specials and everything is homemade. The food is fantastic.
And finally a place in Raynham that serves honest to god Craft Beer!!! Â There is a great selection with more being added all the time, and for the guy who complained because the beer was too expensive.. Really? 4 and change for a craft beer draft is at least a dollar cheaper than any other craft beer bar prices. Â We had the pleasure of meeting and hanging out with Julie one of the partners of the flying dog and she is awesome. She's super cool, listens to suggestions and you can tell genuinely cares about this place and it shows. I'm pumped that this place exists now and it's so close to home. Seriously, come here and bring your friends.. We need to make sure this one lasts!
It wasnt terrible....actually if I had never been to surly johnson's (the previous establishment) I probably would have liked it a lot more. To me it just seemed like nothing really changed. Nothing outside changed to improve the curb appeal, and inside nothing seemed to have changed aside from some pictures on the walls. That said, I got the burger which I agree with previous reviewers was cooked a bit more than i asked, but good none the less. I also ordered a pricey rogue porter for $5! Yikes! The saving grace was the waitstaff(who seemed pretty wet behind the ears) brought me a dead guy ale instead, then realized their mistake, and brought me the porter for free. (that alone should get you a star automatically) All in all not bad, but I really would have liked to see a better remodel to keep this place from ending up "just another local watering hole" as surly's did.
Review Source:Went a few days ago and we were hoping it would be a big improvement over Surly Johnson's, and, thank God, it  was!!! We live just down the street and have seen so many businesses come and go at this place. We had burgers and fries and they were really good!!!! Our waitress, Betty B. was fabulous and friendly and got a generous tip! Welcome, Flying Dog, we will be visiting you again!!! Best of luck!
Review Source:This place is so much better than the previous joint (surly johnson's)... The menu has allot to choose from (so far the blue cheese burger, steak tips, and chicken have been awesome) there is a descent wine list and diverse beer menu.. The place just has a real good, laid back feel... I'm going back for sure!
Review Source:Dropped by on a Sunday afternoon for the Sox game. The staff was attentive, and outgoing. There is a great beer selection, both bottle s and draft. The menu is much improved from the last establishment. I keep it simple and order a pepperoni & sausage pizza which was excellent. I'm looking forward to returning and trying a couple other menu options.
Review Source:Went for dinner on opening night, 4/27. Some remodeling inside since Surly Johnson, looks nicer to me; more open and warmer. Not sure why there has to be a pool table area though. Why not put tables there? Menu was good for a pub, nothing special, but enough to pick from. Had a burger which was pretty good, but cooked more than I ordered. The food also took a very long time to come out, but what the heck, grand opening.
More importantly, they have at least made an effort to have some craft beer to drink. Had Sam Adams Latitude 48 IPA on draft, and a Flying Dog Snake Bite IPA in bottle. Huge improvement from the last extablishment. But, and a huge but, why $5.00 for a 12 ounce bottle of Flying Dog? Even at retail I would guess that a case is about $35.00. That's slightly less than $1.50 cost per bottle. Is it really necessary to more than triple that at the bar? This price is bordering ridiculous, and will impact how often I stop in there for a beer. If the price was more like $3.50, more than double the cost, I would be all over this place. When these don't sell, I hope the owners realize that it was their pricing, not that people didn't like the beer. A 16 ounce draft is $4.50; tell me that this makes sense.
Subsequent to this review, I was contacted by the manager, to come talk to her, and she did slightly lower the price to $4.50. I am still thrilled that someone has brought craft beer to my neighborhood. Finally, after waiting all these years! Here's to their continued success!
