As a guy, the first thing that you'll notice are the mini skirts and scantily clad dressed women. You would be expecting a Hooters type environment but if you look closer, Flying Saucer is so much more.

Around the room, you'll see families, babies, grandparents, couples on dates, and groups of coworkers. This is definitely not your typically sports bar. With well over 100 beers from all over the world and some German influenced items on the menu, it's no surprise that Flying Saucer is for all ages. You can't go wrong with a brat and beer. On top of that, there are plenty of imports on the menu for only $5-7 and a daily $3 pint special.

It's a shame that Flying Saucer only has locations in the south. Flying Saucer ist wunderbar.

Excellent beer selection. Good sandwiches. Friendly staff. Fun atmosphere. I really don't know what else to say. Oh, I know...the smoked salmon sandwich (River Rocket) is delicious! They smoke their salmon in-house! Yum!

I consider myself to be that beer snob when I go to a bar. That one that looks down on Budweiser and tortilla chips and if their version of craft beer is Blue Moon, sorry broski, but I'm out. That's why I was beyond impressed with the Saucer in Cordova. This was my first time coming here and it won't be my last. I've been to World of Beer and Yard House and all of those beer Meccas, but the Saucer tops them all. The waitress (Kelsey) was beyond polite and sat there in a short skirt with a smiling face as I preached about how Yuengling is the best beer and munched on their amazing beer cheese soup. The manager (Matt/Mike?) is a cool guy that upon realizing my love for good beer, came out and chatted me up for 20 mins. (He dropped the hint that they will soon carry Sweetwater...boom.) The beer list is very respectable. It ranges from Chimay (on tap!) to Brooklyn to a new favorite Yazoo. Easily over 30 draughts and 100 bottles. Not to mention the UFO system which tracks what beers you have tried and want to try and gives you a reward system based on quantity of different beers. Pretty much spreading the gospel of expanding your beer horizons. They have great happy hour specials and i came on brewery glass night and acquired a sweet Stella Artois glass. The food was great, the beer was cold, and the good vibes made the place explode. I will be coming back, and please open one in Hawaii!!!

We haven't been in a long time, but we are always pleased when we go (except when the check comes).  The soft pretzels are delicious as are the hamburgers.  We've rarely had a bad waitress.   They are usually very knowledgeable about the menu.

Great beer selection like all the other Saucers, my problem was the bartender.  She was rude, never came around to ask if I would like another beer, I had to flag her down for that.  She never offered a sample unlike the very nice back-bar dude.  When it was time to go I had to flag her down for the check, then flag her down to pick up the check...man what do you have to do to get good service here?
Maybe this was because it was a Sunday night and they use their C team.

What an awesome beer selection! As an avid craft brew fan this place has what it takes to quench my thirst! Prices are a bit high and our server was less than excited to have us but the selection alone is worth the visit! The environment is pretty cool, we fit in with jeans and a t-shirt!

Beer selection is the best in Memphis. If you need a recommendation just ask. And please don't order miller, coors, or bud. Food is pretty good; pretzels pizza and chicken sandwich are my favorites.

Great place.  Huge beer selection and great location and facility.  The service was excellent too.  I will definitely go back.

Favorite beer place. Fantastic draft beer selection with good food. You have to get the chips and salsa and/or the big soft pretzels (with queso or the spicy mustard) they are the best anywhere!!

Met some friends on a Sunday afternoon. This place still gets high praise for good beer. Had three more on the plate quest.
Even had food there. The rocket tots are great, they're like tater tots with balls. All four of us had supper there. I had the Sheboygan Side-by-Side, which is two bratwurst stuffed into one bun. The girls both had burgers and both commented how good they were.
We had a real good waitress, and she was prompt with the beers and the food. She did however say that the short skirt made her butt look wide. I disagreed.
The place was noticeably less crowded since they instituted no-smoking.

Here's the thing about bar food -- it's usually delicious, in that greasy "I'm going to need Tums and elastic waist pants tomorrow" sort of way. Bar food is great for when you've, perhaps, had a few too many and need something substantial in your stomach ASAP -- no one knows more than me the restorative power of cheesy fries after a long night.

Bar food is great, but it's not normally a cuisine you'd seek out before dark OR while sober. Enter the Flying Saucer, and everything changes.

I've been going to the Flying Saucer for years, in many different locations, and have always found the food there to be an exceptional example of bar food. It's food I crave even when the only thing running through my bloodstream is iced tea. Lately, however, they've really stepped their game up and I find it better than ever.

Before I get to the food, though, let's talk about the atmosphere. The Saucer used to allow smoking, meaning that you had to be 21+ to enter at all times. At some point, this has changed -- they're now non-smoking and all ages. There's plenty of places to smoke outside though, and I believe they still allow smoking on their spacious patio (though not 100% sure).

Inside, there's a great mix of table sizes and giant booths. Sports are generally playing on their TVs and large projection screen, and there are ordinarily lots of groups crowding around the tables. It can be really loud inside, but it's a bar, not a library, so... Just don't go in expecting to have an intimate conversation, and you'll be fine.

Their beer list is huge and legendary -- rightfully so. It's at this point that I should confess to not liking beer, outside from a few Belgian ales, so I'm not the best judge of their beer list. I've gone there with several "beer aficionado" friends who rave about the selection, so take their word for it. Outside of beer, they have a standard selection of liquors and a small wine list. I've never wanted for alcohol there, you'll be a-okay even if you don't care for beer.

As for the food? It's great. Not revolutionary in any sense, but delicious and suitable for anything from a light snack to a meal to a "Why did I think SIX beers was a good idea?" emergency feeding.

    A few of my favorites:

Hummus -- Hummus at a bar? Yeah, hummus at a bar. It's GOOD, assuming you like garlic and are with people who will love you in spite of raging garlic breath. It's not the authentic hummus of, say, Kabob International down the street -- but it's smooth, creamy, and very garlicky. Let me say it again. VERY garlicky. They serve it with both warm pita bread and cucumber slices, which is a perfect way to delude yourself into thinking you're eating healthier. At a bar.

Rocket Tots -- Have you ever eaten tater tots and thought, "These are amazing, but you know what would make them better? Cheese and jalapenos mixed inside!" Well, there you go. They're perfect. Get a side of ranch to dip them in, and it's heaven.

Soft Pretzels -- Enormous and everything a soft pretzel should be. You can pick two of the three dipping sauces -- cream cheese & chive, spicy mustard or queso -- but if you ask nicely, you can probably hook yourself up with all three. Do this.

Pizza -- Pizza snobs, turn your heads. This isn't authentic style pizza of ANY city, but it's delicious. They have both plain pepperoni and a "build your own" slice with a ton of toppings on offer. Chicken, artichokes and avocado is a favorite of mine.

Turkey Meltdown -- Full of smoked turkey, this sandwich is wonderful and very filling. I usually swap out the Swiss cheese for pepper jack, and it's an excellent complement to the creamy avocado. All sandwiches come with a choice of fries, a (generous) side salad or hot German potato salad. You can't go wrong with any of those options.

In addition to these things, there are also tons of other sandwiches, salads, and a "build your own" cheese and meat plate. For vegetarians, there is a "Hippie Hollow" sandwich and a "Hippie Burger" (veggie, if that wasn't obvious). Everyone should be able to find something substantial to eat here, and go away quite happy.

My only real complaint about the Saucer is the service. When it's great, it's 100% on point and wonderful -- but sometimes it's erratic and can take awhile. I understand uneven service more when a place is packed, but this has happened at times when the restaurant wasn't even a third full. Still, the service is solid as a whole, and they're very accommodating to special requests.

I love the Saucer, and am glad to see it doing so well in Cordova. It's a great place to go whether you're in the mood to have a lunch with family, an afternoon of sports, or a fun night out with friends.

If you like good beer (not Bud, Miller, or Coors), this is the place to drink at.  They have a HUGE selection of beers so you shouldn't have a problem finding something you like.  Monday night is one of the best nights to go because it is Pint Night - $3 draughts.

The food is pretty good too.  I had a sausage plate once and it went great with the beer.  I haven't personally tried the burgers, but my friends seem to like them.

lots of beer draught to choose from, cute girls dressed as catholic school girls, what else do you need? A little crowded though and lots of cigarettes. I miss CA

I almost turned away when I read the reviews about smoking being allowed, but I figured "one beer couldn't hurt," and it turned out to be a quality place. Unless you're sitting next to a smoker at the bar, the high ceilings and good ventilation keeps the place relatively smoke free (note: I guarantee your senses are more acute to the smell of smoke with the banning everywhere, so yes, it will smell a bit smokey no matter what). It does get more and more smokey as the evening wears on (direct correlation to the inebriation of the patrons). The food I'll define as 'refined bar fare' and serves it's purpose. On a Friday night, it was never too busy, and certainly not dead. Its a typical well run, well stocked New American Pub (can i coin that?). In all honesty, worth a visit if you're a beer fan or looking for a place to go out in Cordova/Germantown area. Oh, and they have free wireless, which is a little added bonus, and Owen the bartender is your best bet for giving you direction on the beer selection.

Love this Flying Saucer!! There are so many beers to choose from, and they are always getting new ones to try. The food is good, but typical bar food (ie; hamburgers, sandwiches, salads, fries, etc). The music is never too loud, and they really know how to play up sporting events. I love the Beer Goddesses (waitresses)!! Since my husband and I are UFO members, the Cordova wait staff is getting to know us. It's nice to have "a place" where you can chill.

Not as fun as the one downtown. But it's a sports bar so if you're in Cordova and you love beer, it's a good place to go watch a game.

They have more kinds of beer here than I can even name, and many I have never even heard of. Definitely the place for aficionados of the brewsky kind.

The food is great for bar fare and I love their brats. Honestly, it's just a really fun place to hang out with friends.

This is a great place to meet friends, grab a beer and eat too. It's also good for groups because it's big and has fun seating arrangements (long bar, couches). The outdoor patio is big and it is covered in the colder months, so you can always enjoy it. If you don't like to be around smoke, the outdoor patio is the way to go.

The have a mega beer selection and good food. I really like their food. I love their big soft pretzels served with queso- there's two, they are huge and fun to share. The brats are great and come with German potato salad and sauerkraut. I get the beer cheese soup in the colder months.

Overall a great place to hang out and even to go for lunch.

I love this place. TONS of beer choices. Some are $$$ for a beer, but totally worth the price when you taste them. The service can be kinda slow sometimes, but, hey, they can get busy. It can also get pretty smoky inside, but they do have a patio. If you like beer, attractive friendly waitresses in short, plaid skirts, beer, choices, and tasty grub then this is probably what you're looking for.

A great place! A group of us play darts regularly there and we are always taken care of.
It can be expensive--though what bar isn't? They offer what is called a Fire-Sale which is the beer of the night. It is usually 2.50 a draft is a great way to try new types of drinks!
The place gets 3 stars because while the beer selection is second to none, the food is not that good. But, if you are going to drink and don't care about food, then the place is five stars!

Recommend: The Fire-sale is a great way to try new beers!

I was in Germantown for business and heard about this place from some locals and Yelp. Great place and more beers u can handle. The food was very good. Try the Reuben Turkey sandwhich w/ a side salad. Great dish and didnt seem heavy and fat. Service was fair. Lots of employees standing around BSing, but they were young. I would highly recommend the FS. Good place.

I enjoy the Germantown Saucer SO much more than the one downtown. The food and the beer are the same, awesome especially for the adventurous drinker, AND the atmosphere is excellent. They have music playing, but it blends in nicely in the background without intruding on conversation, the waitstaff is really nice and knowledgeable and helpful, and there's a great patio to sit on in the spring and summer. The best part is that there is rarely a cover (never that I've been there, but I say rarely in case) OR any obnoxious local band. I love this place, even if I have to drive to Germantown for it. I'm hoping that soon enough there won't be smoking anymore, but even then there's the patio to escape it.

I like the selection of beers when I want one, the food is better than average for bar food, the Trivia Bowl is fun, but ARRGGGHHH, I can't stand the smoking!

This is a good BEER bar, since they have every beer imaginable here. It's good for all kinds of crowds and it's very casual and decent food. They do have vodka, but I think it's just one brand that they offer. They also have bourbon.
