(sigh) Â I think I'm getting old.
The Fox is a fantastic place to see a show, be in a show, be backstage at a show, be VIP at a show, sneak in to a show...I've done it all.
Downsides: Â
-it's grimy all over the place
-lots of drugs (ok, I guess this can be +/- depending on who you are)
-it's loud
-if you're short, you might not be able to see so well
The great points:
+great great music. Â bands you'll be sorry you missed in a couple years. Â Recent examples: Coldplay, Devotchka
+it's filled with history. Â Everyone and their mom (and brother, and son) has played here. Â
+good strong drinks and excellent bartenders
+get backstage or upstairs and there are lots of nooks and crannies to investigate
+the sound is loud, and you feel like you're at a real live show
+layout prevents too much craziness
+get up on that upstairs balcony, and you'll feel like you own the place...wonderful
Ok, so I'm sentimental about the place. Â Enjoy.
Live music is why you go to the Fox. Sometimes you'll find an overindulgent college croud and it gets hard to hear the music and use the bathroom. Otherwise they book some fun shows here and it sounds good and it is fairly comfortable for a place with no seats.
During all-age shows, they let the youngsters down-front. A much better scene than confining them to the balcony.
