So I bellied up to Freehs because I had been informed that they had the best burger in the south burbs and being the ninja that I am I just had to check it out. Â Now I don't know if I would really call this a dive bar. Â More like someones basement with the old bar set you would sneak down with your friends and nip in the parents booze. Â I arrived around 730 PM. to a warm greeting by the bartender. Â There were about four people in the bar and they were all obviously regulars. Â I asked what was on tap and he went through the extensive list of selections.....Miller High Life and Miller Lite. Â I choose the later as the lesser of two evils although between the two its like choosing the tallest midget for your basketball team. Â The bar was clean and the beer was cold. Â I ordered my burger with everything and it came from the kitchen in about 15 minutes on wax paper, in a red basket with a bag of chips. Â One bite and I knew why they have such a great reputation. Â The burger was fresh, hot and moist. Â Cooked to perfection and I really enjoyed it. Â There was a perfect amount of salt and pepper and it was nice and thick. Â I normally go with fries because I am a potato addict but it wasn't offered and to tell you the truth I really didn't miss them. Â All total I spent 6bucks on a cold one and a great burger which isn't bad at all. Â I know the new thing in the south burbs is the number guys burger but this one beats them out hands down. Â If only it was BYOB so that I could bring in some REAL beer !!!
Review Source:Like others have said this is a place that is really known by it's regulars kinda like a low rent cheers kinda place. The people are friendly but the stand out are their superior burgers served with chips not fries the hand-packed blue cheese burgers are the best I have had anywhere and the best part is the price at less than 5 bucks OMG they can't be beat! If you are in the area stop by grab a brew and a burger or just grab a burger to go I promise you will not be dissapointed !!!!!
