My friend and I walked into this establishment and were greeted by the entire group of patrons turning on their bar stools and looking at us.  It was one of the funniest and one of the most awkward moments to date.  It was all good though, because as we headed towards the empty spot near the bar, they went back to their merrymaking and we ordered some beers!
This place is really, really cute!
It looks like it was just re-done, too!

    Pros:
    -Cheap Prices on Drinks
    - Local Patrons
    - Fun vibe
    - They don't allow dogs inside (you decide if this is a pro or con)
    - Friendly bar staff

    Cons:
    They do not serve food
    - They don't allow dogs inside

Every so often my girlfriends like to get together as a hen pecking, clucking pack, and indulge in a wine and cheese party.

Me? I know enough about wine to successfully shock people that assume I'm just a beer swilling blondie, but my true self loves taverns and beer.

On our way to said fancy party, my friend and I were meandering down post looking for a place to grab a drink before the real drinking began and our bar-dar picked up Friars.

We walk in, and it's literally one of those moments where the music stops and everyone turns in their stools to check out the non regulars.  Who are holding baked goods.

I'm used to that reaction, I get it all the time, but my friend seemed a little uneasy so I walked up to the bartender, set down my mini chocolate cheese cakes, and offered him one.

    "got hash in em?"

"well, no, not THAT kinda brownie, I'll take a Heineken"

This place is a quintessential local bar. The patrons all know each other, the bartender knows everyone that comes there often, it's a lot cleaner then most local pubs and it's really got a cute ambience in there.

I know part of it is cause we're girls and we're cute, but I guarantee if you walk in this joint with a good attitude the locals will embrace you and have a drink with you.  Or 30, these guys looked like they could put em down.  If I hadn't made plans that evening I would've been at friar all night. Happily.

    Bar...

Strange place is all I can say about Friars...  Me and a buddy were early for a band down the street - and we required a place for some appetizers and a drink.  We popped in here as it looked nice from the outside and a quick search on Google suggested this as a restaurant.

We didn't see any food or tables- we did see however an interesting collection of misfits - there really is no better way to say it.  Remember that old Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer show where they go to the island of misfit toys?  This was like the bar equivalent for misfit patrons...

Hard to explain, you'd have to see it I suppose...

Anywho- we had a drink and blew out of there.

    Parking on the street.
