Nice atmosphere out by the tiki bar. Â Live music by two different performers (at separate times).
Our server was attentive without being overbearing and helpful with menu selections. Â
Food came out quickly when ordered.
Started lunch with the cracked conch app; conch was tender without being chewy and the breading was good but maybe a little under seasoned. Â I would order it again.
My lunch consisted of the lobster roll. Â The lobster salad was tasty but not awesome. I was hoping for a little more out of a $16.00 lobster roll but not bad.
Most of the lunch items priced out around $15.00
Pets were seemingly welcome as three people had dogs and as long as you don't mind the occasional fits of barking, outside is the way to go.
I was in Palm Beach for travel. Went here for lunch today. I had the fish tacos and they were awesome. Our waitress while being extremely attractive was also equally good at customer service. A rare find in the restaurant industry. Food came out quickly and piping hot. Also a good location on the water. Why not five stars. Well I don't know other than it did not quite feel it.
Review Source:I am from California on vacation, so this will be my only experience here, but I would eat here again.
Great ambiance, courteous staff and good food. I had the blackened mahi mahi with green beans and peppers, and twice baked potato souffle.
Mahi mahi- good, not great. Mine was a bit overdone and my father's was a little dry.  Since the grouper was so good, I am going  to chalk this up as a fluke. Still pretty tastey.
Grouper- by far the best dish we had and this made up for the mediocre  mahi mahi.
Twice baked potato souffle- deliciousness!
Veggies- crisp, tasty and overall they were great.
I have heard the buzz about this place so we decided to give it a try. Went with 3 others for my birthday dinner and was extremely disappointed. We were sat by the hostess and waited about 10 minutes without any acknowledgement from a server. I had to ask someone that was walking by if we could get some service. So a girl comes up shortly after and tells us it's her first day. She didn't write anything down and naturally managed to screw up EVERYONE'S order. The food they had forgotten about was brought out when we were all pretty much done eating our entrees. Our server disappeared and we had to ask yet another server for our check. The food was decent so I'll give it 2 stars but it wasn't good enough to make me look past the horrible service. I always give places 2 chances before reviewing them, but this was ridiculous.
Review Source:Great atmosphere on the water. We had a group of 7 and were able to sit outside which was nice. The food was really good! We tried most of the appetizers (crab cakes, wings, calamari, flat bread), and all was really flavorful. My favorite was the Lobster Mac & Cheese!!! soooooo creamy and good! Â Entrees were the same! Very flavorful! Scallops were very good! and the Frigen' Potatoes! wow! Must Have!.
The only negative I have, and the reason i took one star off is service. Our waitress was not very friendly, kept dropping things, very slow to refill drinks!! She also kept interrupting conversation to ask us to hand her things, which I thought was rude(it happened multiple times). This was my first visit to Frigate's so I'm not sure if all staff is this way, and I will chalk this up to our individual waitress.
Overall I would recommend this place! great hang out spot and food was really good!
I was down last week for a little R&R and was taken to Frigate's after hearing a lot about this relatively new venture. Â It was toward the end of my stay when we went for dinner and I had been on a fish taco kick all week. Â I should have come here first as their tacos were bomber: perfectly cooked, nicely seasoned and BIG. Â Drinks were very generous for the most reasonable prices. Â Friendly staff and manager. Â Give them a shot; you won't be disappointed. Â Hop to!
Review Source:Could be five stars, but I only had a quick lunch so have limited my enthusiasm in this review. Â
Got there at 2PM on a Friday afternoon and the parking lot was still full. Â Everyone working in the place from the front desk to the bartender (Gabby) were terrific, friendly, and quick. Â
I decided on the French Dip, which WAS Five Stars - perfect, tender beef with absolutely no flaws, heated with just the right amount of cheese on a tender roll. Â Even more impressive, the au jus was full of flavor and not too much salt. Â In short - superb. Â Fries served with it were hot, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside.
Don't know how much more you can ask for in a bar & grill - but I'm going to try it again.
Frigates is the kind of place that doesn't generate high expectations: A local-casual-seafood based place that is on the water is usually a careless exercise in greasy seafood, overpiced because you get to look at boats while you eat.
That explains the very pleasant surprise when you discover that Frigates has put together a good selection and produces great food - somebody gets the food thing here and executes it well.
Four dishes is enough to know you'll be back trying the rest. Â Lobster mac 'n cheese is a dish big enough to satisfy NJ Governor Christie - unless you're training to go against Joey Chestnut in a food competition, its a split. Â Smooth and creamy campanelle pasta with a decent amount of lobster. Â Could have been seasoned better, but there were no complaints.
Lobster rolls are easy to do well, and just as easy to wreck. Â Theirs is a classic hot lobster roll served in a grilled, center-split New England-style hot dog roll - it was very good and had plenty of meat.
Dolphin Rueben is quickly becoming a staple - and with good reason. Â When served on thick, toasted marble rye and a healthy cut of mahi mahi its satisfying and moist - fabulous flavor and just-that-much-more-healthy than corned beef. Â One of the best examples to date.
Almost every seafood and sports bar place is now putting out their take on fish tacos. Â Its a good benchmark for the rest of the menu...if they can do these well, you're in good shape. Â Frigates are among the best ever - two over-stuffed tacos with blackened dolphin and a terriffic combination of fresh slaw, salsa, and what they call 'spicy remoulade'. Â Its not spicy remoulade, but its outstanding. Â It complements the perfectly-cooked dolphin and both have just enough kick to let you know that they are putting out food without assuming that we all like bland nursing home cuisine.
Another standout are their fries - whoever oversees these knows their craft. Â They are deep golden brown, and not greasy - a sign that they were properly blanched before the second fry.
Can't leave out our server (Fa), she was very enthusiastic - too young to be passive/mechanical like many in a busy restaurant. Â Bubbly and energetic - hope you get her when you go. Â Same goes with the hostesses - they all seem to actually enjoy what they do - and it really sets the stage. Â Well done, ladies!
They almost get 5 stars - if they were a little less pricey for their genre they would merit it. Â But don't let that stop you - its a true standout.
Unbelievable Sunday buffet 9:00am till1:00 pm. Only $14.95 and they have everything; custom omelets, Belgium waffles and anything else breakfast you want including fresh berries. Roast prime beef, salmon, shrimp several ways including a great version of spicy shrimp & grits and lots more are on the lunch side of brunch. This was our our first time here and was not expecting this superlative quality brunch, better than Breakers or Ritz Carlton and such a deal, they aren't making money on Sunday. Also offered for brunch is unlimited Champagne for $12 or Bloody Mary bar for $8. Only complaint was service was a bit slow as at noon every table packed inside and out, but food and price make up for it.
Came back for dinner, food and service at the bar were fine, if I lived closer, I'd be back more often for the great views on the canal and "openness" this place offers in good weather. Duffy's is closer for me a very similar product, but nobody is going to beat their Sunday Brunch buffet. Five stars for Sunday brunch, four stars otherwise.
This is a great little waterside restaurant for casual, romantic dining. Sit on the patios. They light up the water in the canal for a cool effect.  The service is good, not phenomenal, the menu is really very good for bar food (think Duffy's ++), and  parking is easy and plentiful.  The bar's stock is mostly for mixed and beer drinkers, with a lot of brands that run to the cheap side. They spend millions to build this place as a bar and don't stock good stuff that is A) profitable and B) Good to keep customers longer. Â
They could use a few upscale bottles in each category. Tried to tell that to the bar manager, but he was still too busy to talk to me after two managers tried to get his attention. Â Star five? Bah bye...
We were on vacation when we found this place, we decided to go here based on the fact that it was "on the water". It's a very casual place, pretty neat outside deck though. Really cool bar area outside, would definitely recommend. The deck ouside has three levels/layers that make it very cool. Service was also excellent, our food came out really fast. Food was good, nothing spectacular, but definitely good enough to go back. We had calamari for an appetizer which was a little plain, but still good. For dinner I had a burger that was very yummy and my friend had the shrimp poboy sandwich which she raved out. She also has the clam chowder which she said was to die for. Overall, very satisfied!
Review Source:If your looking for one the best spots in palm beach county to go, try Frigates!! Â A great tiki bar with two bars, one outside and one inside! Great place to watch football with over 30tvs...great service throughout the entire place. The head chef George, which I meet and talked to has a unbelievable menu that anyone would enjoy!
Review Source:I live just around the block from this place and have been waiting for it to open for a while with that amazing location and view. Â Finally I drove by the other day and saw it was packed, so made a mental note to go and try it soon. Â Took my mom there for a light Sunday dinner after the beach. Â I had my dog with me, they are totally dog friendly and gave us a nice table outside with an amazing view of the sunset where my dog wasn't in anyone's way. Â Music was nice, location perfect. Â Parking, well you have to valet, it said free, but $4 if you want in front. Â This was their slowest night so far, so not a big issue, but other nights I'd advice to park somewhere within walking distance if you don't want to deal with valet. Â Food was excellent but pricey, we didn't have much. Â My mom had Coconut Shrimp 4 for $12, but she was full afterwards cause they are huge and delicious. Â I had yellowtail snapper blackened $27. Â Just excellent, reminded me of my trips to Key Largo where I've had the best fish meals of my life. Â Cole Slaw was ok, tasty but a lot of liquid, I like more cabbage. Â Green beans just average. Â I was surprised they don't do breakfast and lunch menu is the same as dinner. Â I'm gonna go back but probably stick to the cheaper menu items. Â I do love the location and atmosphere and that they are dog friendly at last for now till someone complains. Â I hope they can start doing some lunch and dinner specials. Â Like lunch under $10 and dinner under $20. Â I asked about a salad with fish, and I'd have to pay market price for fish which would make it like a $35 salad. Â That should really be more like $18-20. Â If you don't mind the prices, I recommend it just for the atmosphere - nice date location... Â Also wish they had public wifi.
Review Source:OMG. Listen, if you truly believe that $12.00 for French Fries and a Burger is too "Expensive", go to Burger King or McDonalds. Been there 3 times.  Service continues to improve  Restaurant is vey handsomely decorated and warm. It is noisy. Food is very good for what it is. Conch is best I have ever had. Burgers very good Dolphin Reuben excellent.
Review Source:Just had dinner at Frigates. Considering they don't have a website and I was unable to even locate a phone number online, the place was packed. The menu is varied, a nice mix for seafood lovers looking to dine with non-seafood lovers. All of the food at our table was great. Awesome Caesar Salad, the Coconut Shrimp was fantastic, I loved the "Rice of the Day" which was a Confetti Rice with onion and peppers. I LOVE plantains and theirs were very good. From around the table I heard the Filet was good, the Hog Fish Snapper was fantastic, the creamed spinach was tasty and the burger was pretty great. No one had any complaints on the food (other than not all of it came out super hot, not sure why). The drink menu is fun, with a mix of interestingly-named cocktails and martinis (Friggin-tini), along with a good selection of wine and beer. I love the decor - very Key West. Feels like you're inside and outside at the same time. Our waitress was beyond nice and accommodating. The service struggled a little, but I think that's because they're new and were slammed. My only "complaint" would be the atmosphere and pricing don't really mesh. It's a pretty casual spot (lots of TVs with sports, people dressed like they came from the beach, etc), but the pricing was geared more like an upscale experience. I think it would be a regular "go to" for us, but not at the price point, which is sad. The valet were really nice and quick, but I wish we could have parked on our own. Definitely recommend giving it a try!
Review Source:They just opened on Monday July 2 so keep that in mind while reading. Â We asked for an outside table told 20 minute wait and no beepers so check back. Â Went outside plenty of tables then came in and were sat inside. Â Our server was great. Â Our calamari was small and served with an orange - clearly they screwed up since other plates had lemons. Â The Mahi Rueben is PHENOMENAL and the fries are large cut and great. Â I asked for ranch dressing, the food runner said they didnt have any and didnt know what else they had. Â I asked the server and he said they were out and would bring blue cheese. Â He ended up bringing a horsey sauce. Not his fault - but funny. Â Overall the food and service as great. Â The menu is a bit pricey. $5 a bottle of beer (Blue Moon). Â DO NOT VALET PARK. Â They have to park your car accross the street or a few blocks down and we waited 20 minutes for our car. Â Your better off parking in the shopping center next door.
