I've only been here for breakfast, but the food and service were both fantastic. As stated in other reviews the prices are fair and the food tastes fresh and homemade. The little bowls of fruit are especially nice, you can get them assorted. We were told the owner makes their own preserves with the strawberries and blueberries.
The menu has a variety of options- including make-your-own omelettes and breakfast sandwiches. Raisin bread, peppers, cheese and eggs go oddly well together.
I should also note that the last time I visited (a crowded Sunday morning) there were only two young girls running the show- and they could handle it. I assume this was an understaffed day. Despite how busy it was the waitresses were thoughtful and friendly (when I asked for a bowl of fruit out server replied, "Absofruitley!" which I appreciated having dealt with cold Bostonian waitresses for so long).
I am not from Medfield but I lived there for several months and the town could use more places like this to keep the cute small town vibe going strong! :)
My husband and I happened upon this restaurant on our way to Fore Seasons for an afternoon of golf. Â We stopped for breakfast and were incredibly pleased that we did.
The food was served quickly and perfectly prepared. Â The corned beef hash was fantastic and clearly made from scratch, no pun intended. Â Bigger guys might take issue with the portion size but I thought it was perfect. Â I hate when I have to force myself to finish just so I won't waste the food on my plate.
The food itself is a 5 star but I hope they will improve the ambiance a bit as they become more established. Â The decor is quite bland and also cold, hence the 4 star rating.
At the end of the day it's the food that counts and we will be back next time we are golfing in the area.
Ridiculously cheap but not much of a selection on the menu. Very plain Jane things you could just as easily whip up in your own kitchen. I have absolutely no idea how this place makes money. Ate lunch just the two of us and bill was under $10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Mind BLOWN. But then again the food isn't anything fancy, so...
Atmosphere is barren. Very quiet with no music-just the hum of the refrigerator from the back.
Asked if the chips were homemade hence the name of the restaurant and they were NOT. Minutes later, the chef brought out a basket of freshly cooked potato Slices and said give these chips a shot and let me know what you think. They made them just for us! Impressive.
5 stars for service, food, fresh OJ, coffee and prices. Would just love to see it warmed up a little with some sconce lighting and a pendant light over the counter instead of just dim recessed lights. Â I'm not a designer by any stretch but it would feel much more welcoming if the decor was warmed up. Â Not sure exactly how. Â Really more of a suggestion than a complaint. Â It is a hidden gem as others have already said.
Review Source:Went for the first time for lunch last week. I ordered a grilled cheese and salad. A lot can go wrong with something as basic as a grilled cheese, it can be so greasy and the bread can be awful. This bread was DIVINE. They make it from scratch, go figure! The fries were pretty good but a little cold. My husband ordered the farmers omelet and the Ruben, he was a bit hungry. He really liked the omelet. He didn't really enjoy the Ruben. It seemed to him the sauerkraut was not as fresh as it could have been and the dressing was a bit bland. He agreed the bread was great too.
I'll definitely be going back. So great that it's right in town, the prices were pretty good, the bread was outstanding and there are many more things I want to try.
Great breakfast and lunch place! Â Nice staff and energetic chef/owner. Â Location is perfect: junction of Rts 27 and 109 with plenty of parking. Â Breakfast highlights include the best pancakes in the area, and real crepes (mmm ... Nutella). Â From Scratch is more than just a name. Â Everything's made from scratch. Â For instance, the turkey served at lunch is fresh roasted.
Review Source:My friends and I went to From Scratch for lunch over the weekend. We got to sit at a table of our choice greeted by a very friendly waitstaff. We were very happy to hear From Scratch was serving both breakfast and lunch - the more choices, the better!
I got a ruben sandwich. For anyone who is a fan of ruben sandwiches, you know that the quality and seasoning of the meat is the most important aspect of this hearty meal. The corned beef was tender, savory and overall extremely delicious! My table mates got burgers made to order. The menu allows the customer to pick and create their own meal if they want. My roomates got creative with the burgers they ordered by adding avocado spread, bacon, a fried egg, hollandaise sauce (made from scratch - of course), and cheese. We were all raving.
To top it off, we ordered a banana and nutella crepe for dessert - it was absolutely amazing. The best I have EVER HAD!
From Scratch is definitely a "Must Go". I highly recommend to all!!
This place is a true hidden gem that makes a very good breakfast in the middle of nowhere (Medfield). My buddy lives right down the street and we ventured for breakfast on a Sunday morning.
Everything was really good and fresh and a reasonable price. The star for me was the pancakes. They are made from scratch (as the name states) perfectly golden brown and light and fluffy. My only complaint was that the homemade corned beef hash wasn't what I expected. It has chopped up pieces of corned beef instead of ground. I love my hash finely ground and browned to a crisp on the griddle.
Nonetheless, this place is a teriffic breakfast joint and a nice little find.
After nearly driving by the small strip mall its located in, we came across the newly owned Tock of the Town, and boy are we glad we didn't drive by it! Our experience was overwhelmingly positive compared to the other local breakfast joints. We received easy seating and fast service, waiting a mere seven minutes for our food to arrive. Our food was delicious: best chocolate chip pancakes I have ever had, great hash browns, and surprisingly good coffee compared to the usual sludge.
Overall clean, friendly and fresh!
We will be repeat customers!
My review is for breakfast. Quick and extremely friendly service always makes me happy. My eggs were cooked exactly to order and my coffee cup was filled regularly. Free wifi was also a bonus. Only complaint is only one thin napkin and that cheep silverware that is sharpish on the edges. You know they type. Solid 4 out of 5.
Review Source:I just visited here for breakfast while saying out in the suburbs with my mother for the holidays. Â From Scratch has only been open a month, so when we went into a restaurant that had no sign outside the door, I was a little worried. Â A quick glance at the menu tells you that From Scratch lives up to their name, they make everything themselves. Â In my opinion, this is one of the best things you can hear before ordering your food.
The menu feels a little sparse because it is meant to be fully customizable. Â Basically, there are not really any pre-set combo plates because they will make you what you want. Â My mother had two eggs, home fries, a side of corned beef hash, and one pancake. Â She was thrilled to be able to create her own combo and get exactly what she wanted.
I asked them to make me something a little more fiddly. Â Instead of using ham or canadian bacon on my eggs benedict, I wanted hash. Â
The food was fresh and really tasty, but what stood out most was the hash. Â I have fallen victim to a lot of terrible hash in my time, but this stuff is on a whole other level of yummy. Â The potatoes are not over cooked so rather than tiny institutional cubes of potato in squishy meat, I was actually able to identify real ingredients and seasoning. Â It wasn't too salty either, so needless to say, I was one happy camper.
My mother has already made plans to go here again, I am more than willing to go again on my next visit out this way. Â I sincerely hope that From Scratch catches on, because a restaurant that only uses real ingredients to make real food for their customers most certainly deserves our attention.
Visited during the "soft" opening and found a great treat.  The omelets are light ,fluffy and full of quality ingredients.  The concept is  " We make everything from scratch. We use real homemade recipes with quality ingredients. No mixes. No shortcuts."  They certainly lived up to the billing . Prove this out with one of their muffins. They taste like out of your oven only better.
It is located at the site of the former Tock of the Town. The atmosphere is clean and the wait staff very friendly. Â They definitely go the extra mile for the customer. A customer asked for a lemon with her crepe and was told they had none. After ordering her meal the manager came back with the crepe and lemon. He had sent someone to his home to get the lemon.
My visit was during breakfast but they serve lunch as well. I am definitely making a return trip and looking forward to the grand opening.
