I went to Gatsby's while stuck staying at the nearby Wingate by Wyndham (kicking myself for that after finding out there was an HGI across the way).
Gatsby's was a pretty run of the mill bar with food. If you're stuck at one of the hotels near this place without a car (like us) - it is really your only option for a meal late in the evening and it is fine.
The nachos were great and service was fine. Most of the other dishes were a little underwhelming. Â They have some good beers so that was a nice surprise. Â Service was fine.
If I lived in Indy, I would make no effort to go back - but if you have limited options and are looking for a meal or a sports bar it seems like a fine option. It became surprisingly busy later in the night, so maybe it's a good local bar.
Good americana-style place, lots of TV's if you're a sports fan. Â I had the standard "burger and fries". Â Hard to screw up something like that, right? Â They didn't either! Â Tasted pretty good. Â Certainly no piece de resistance, but definitely better than the McD's, Applebee's or other fare in the area. Â Was sorry it wasn't the mexican place it used to be, but no complaints. Â Had free wifi there too, which was a nice feature...didn't really use it, but good to know if I return (was in town for work).
Total bill was about $13 for a burger, fries, and a Fat Tire! :-)
First time here - looks like there is new management/ownership within the past couple months. Non-smoking restaurant with a wide variety of food. The fried mushrooms are some of the best I've ever had in Indianapolis. Very friendly service with reasonable prices. Definitely a good hangout for locals.
Review Source:My wife and I came to Indy to visit her sister over the Memorial Day weekend. Her sister and her sister's friends were all meeting up at Gatsby's for their trivia night, so my wife and I tagged along since we can definitely hold our own in trivia. Fast forward 2 1/2 hours later with multiple times asking the waitress when trivia would start with no answer. We assume it has been cancelled even though there are big signs all over the place saying it should have started hours ago. Plus, it was obvious we were not the only people there for trivia. Groups who were obviously teams also waiting for the game to start were all over the place. Epic fail.
