Wife ordered gluten-free crust for health reasons and the waitress neglected to take the proper order and brought out a crust that contained gluten which we realized after a slice. The standard of service here requires a customer to question the quality and attention that the management places on its work. The manager/owner came out with a weak apology and said that the "salad was on them". If anyone is gluten-sensitive be very cautious going to this establishment.
Review Source:5 stars aren't enough, the food is absolutely divine!  We went on a Wednesday, my Mum, my husband, and I.  Pulled in to a little restaurant off the road, looks like a little old house, but the wonderfully prepared, absolutely fresh food was some of the best we have ever eaten anywhere, including Italy! These people know food and know how to prepare garden to table. We sat outside on the patio overlooking the organic garden where many of the veggies and herbs were picked a short time ago, and between the three of us we ordered the tomato basil soup, ravioli, stone fired pizza, and the stuffed portobello mushroom panini.  They make EVERYTHING on site-even the ravioli was hand made! The tomato basil soup was wonderful, piping hot, filled with flavor; the pizza was the best we have had anywhere in the world, or at least in the 51 countries we have eaten in! I had to trade a whole slice of this marvelous thin crust pizza for one of my husband's ravioli in cream sauce...yum! The portobello panini was luscious, stuffed with veggies and topped with cheese.  We finished our afternoon long luncheon with one of the incredible cookies filled with nuts and chocolate.  Service was outstanding, friendly, and very  relaxed. We never felt rushed even though we quite made ourselves comfortable and stayed over an hour. We will definitely be eating again at this gem of a restaurant.

Having moved to the foothills of upstate South Carolina less than a year ago from a foodie city in North Carolina, I have been searching for a local restaurant that serves creatively prepared fresh local ingredients in a cool atmosphere. Until tonight, that search has been rather disappointing. Giardini is a fantastic restaurant. Wonderfully prepared fresh and local food served in an old house transformed into a contemporary and romantic space. This is a do not miss restaurant.
HER:
Consider yourself lucky if you have had one perfectly cooked scallop in your life. Â If you haven't had one yet, then Giardini is a must. What a treat! Â I loved everything. Â The food, the wine, the service, the atmosphere...all made for a lovely evening. Â I definitely
recommend this place.
I first stopped by this place for takeout when they only did takeout. It was really good. But, i just never got back there because it's a bit out of the way and it was just weird to me...it's kind of a strange place to see from the road. I remember when it used to be a small farm. Then, they converted the basement to a takeout food area. Then, they added a horse shoe court or something like that. Then, a wood-fired pizza oven on wheels showed up in the yard. Then, they added a big tent-like structure. Then, they opened a restaurant upstairs in the house.
Now, (warning: deep personal flaws about to be hung out like dirty laundry)....I have to admit that I am kinda black and white in my thinking. Â I don't like non-traditional restaurants. I don't like places where you walk in and it's unclear what you're supposed to do next. I don't like restaurants that serve food with plastic cutlery. I don't like places where you don't know where the entrance is at, etc, etc. Giardini's is really none of that but it's also just not typical and I had a hard time dealing with that.
So,when they opened the restaurant I was reluctant to go. Even though I was getting much pressure from the wife. Even though I had heard lots of good things about it. And, even though I heard Chevy Chase comes here and likes it (can't confirm celebrity siting or even if he likes Italian food).
So, I gave in to my wife and we got an early reservation one Friday night. I must say that the interior is nice....kind of more upscale than I expected. We were seated on the back porch with a view over their gardens (they grow much of their own produce) and distant mountains.
I got a salad app (gorgonzola and sugared pecans with sundried tomatoes). My wife got the caprese salad. Both were fresh, well prepared and excellent. For mains, wife got tuna special, I got seafood pasta special and Thing 1 and Thing 2 got pasta. All had excellent flavor and were nicely prepared and presented. In fact it was really outstanding. We've tried to get in here again on short notice and found that they were booked solid and I understand why. We plan ahead now.
Don't pass this place by....in fact, go out of your way to find it. It's up there with Stone Soup in Landrum as one of the best restaurants in the area. Bring your own wine or beer though. They are still working on getting an alcohol license as of this writing.
Absolutely FABULOUS FOOD!!! Â Had the Ahai Tuna seared with Cheese Risotto, and grilled veggies....YUM!!! Â Of course I'm biased because I worked there when it first opened and know Mary, Joe & Kate. Â The food is ALWAYS fresh...the atmosphere is warm and inviting, and everyone there makes you feel like family!! Â Love it

cozied up to wonderful friends on the screen porch of this mountain cottage makes for THE perfect night. Â i love the farm-to-table concept, and these guys take it an extra mile by actually placing Giardini amidst the garden farm from which comes the meal. Â i've gone three times now with some fine company. Â we are "those" type of diners: Â the ones who arrive early and stay until the chef kicks us out. (ps: the owners, cooks, and servers are some of the warmest, friendliest, most accommodating lot i've seen). Â
the food is THE BEST. Â i live a solid hour away and the food alone is worth the drive. Â combine the phenom culinary delights with the clean mountain ambiance and warm hosts, you're likely to never leave. Â
however: Â note that it is in a dry county, so take your own wine (they don't even charge a corkage fee!!).
i can NOT WAIT to go again!
In addition to their catering, Giardini in the small community of Columbus, NC, has now expanded and include their own restaurant serving wonderful authentic Italian food. Â I enjoyed a wood-fired whole wheat thin crust pizza with drunken figs, goat cheese, caramelized onions, and fresh heirloom tomatoes from their garden. Â One of the BEST pizzas ever! Â They have their own garden and utilize this in their menus. Â Their menu includes many authentic Italian dishes and is subject to change according to season and availability. Â Open for lunch and dinner, though not big, a very charming restaurant with a delightful overview of their vegetable gardens! Â Service was solid, but do not be in a hurry as your meal is being prepared fresh! Â Definitely a place I will return to! Â This is a WINNER!
