dropped in before going to shoot pool one evening, hoping for pizzas by the slice. hurray! they exist here. they have them nicely displayed behind the clear germ guard. there's quite a selection of specialty pizzas that are available by the slice, which is nice. don't ask for the margherita though. that's the only one they won't do.
let's not get into the type of flour, the kind of crust, the quality of ingredients... it's hard to do that when the restaurant doesn't have a wood burning stove. i had a slice of white and a slice of grilled chicken. both were decent enough to go back the next time i'm in the area -- especially for $7 and some change for dinner.
Pretty cool neighborhood pizza shop. It looks like it's doing fairly well for itself in spite of nearby competition from other restaurants in the area.
Pros: Nice ambiance, adequate seating, reasonable prices. The calzone my husband and i shared was delicious. Â There was more than enough mozzarella and ricotta in there to make us swoon with each bite. They gave us extra sauce for dipping which was a nice touch.
Cons: Customer service could be a bit friendlier.
Nice corner pizza shop. Â Food was okay and it's really convenient for us, but after one dine-in and one take out (chicken parm., meatball sub, calzone, eggplant parm.), we decided against returning. Â Food is a little bland, skin on the eggplant in the eggplant parmesan was very tough and eggplant was chewy.
Review Source:Best garlic knots in town!! Â They are so yummy! Â The knots are perfectly baked. Â They are the right texture and unbelievably tasty. Â I guarantee that you will not be able to only have one. Â The next thing you know you ate them all. Â They also cater. Â I took a huge tray full of garlic knots to a potluck at work and it was gone in lightning speed. Â No opportunities for seconds because there was KNOThing left in the tray. Â Everyone mentioned how delicious they were and where they could buy/order them. Â No joke. Â Hands down the best knots in town at Gino's!
Review Source:We ate here several times. Â They have a couple take out deals for Sunday football and also Monday/Tuesday nights. Â For us, it is much better option than the usual chains. Â Pizza ingredients are fresh, not from a can. Â
Dine in is also pleasant. Â Usually get some garlic knots to start with marianna sauce - a little too much oil, but very tasty. They are pretty quick to serve large crowds, even during their busiest hours. Â By the time we finish the garlic knots the pizza is ready.
There is a bar which is separated from the main dining area. Â Looks like a good place to watch a game. Â They also have a good variety of pizza sold by the slice and several options of very large desserts. Â
It's in the same shopping plaza as a Starbucks which is an added bonus, as we are usually tempted to get some after-dinner coffee.
This is one of my new favorite places to grab a good lunch! Gino's has a great lunch menu and prices. Pizza is above average for the area, the Sicilian pizza is the best i have had in the South. Eggplant Parmesan sub and dinners are solid. Menu is typical pizza shop, but they seem to do everything consistently well. Service is good, in a NY sort of way. Budweiser bottles are 2 for $5, so if you know my reviews, that automatically gets you an extra star and puts you in "Yay, I'm a fan" Land. Great place for a quick lunch, an after work joint, or a family dinner. My kids loved the Italian Ices (lemon and cherry flavors). What else can you ask for? Mangia!
Review Source:This place is great! Â I go here for lunch at least once a week. Â Unfortunately our office is moving to Buckhead in about a month so I won't be able to go there much longer. Â Time to open up a place in Buckhead, Gino's! Â The pizza is great, although I tend to like a crunchier crst. Â I'd say this place is pretty authentic NY pizza (I'm from NY so I know). Â The sauce is excellent. Â I will miss Gino's. Â :(
Review Source:Came here during opening week and was a bit disappointed with the food. I had a calzone. Probably would have given them one star then.
Went back again recently and they did redeem themselves.
They have plenty of lunch specials til 3pm. Lasgna and drink was about $6 and honestly, it really was good. Comes hot and a little boiling so its really cheesy even on the inside. Good balance of meat, sauce, and cheese. Ordering off the specials kinda takes a blow since a slice of a specialty pizza goes for ~$4.
Co-workers I went with had the sicillian pizzas. Two slices for $5. It's all already made without the toppings. You just have to let them know what toppings you want and they'll add it on. So pretty much it's not completely made to order but re-heated.
To make things better... the dessert comes out looking crazy-good. Question is if you can handle it after the cheap yet satisfying meal.
Tried this pizza place a few days ago, LOVED the pizza, the lasagna slice wash fresh and delicious. Â Coworker had the Sicilian pizza, it was was delicious also. Â Service was great, loved the little old grandma, everyone was very friendly (except the cashier who had a permanent scowl on her face) I will be back. Â True NY pizza.
Review Source:I always make a first judgment of a so called NY pizza joint by whether or not they offer red pepper and garlic as a condiment at the tables. Score one for Gino's. Then if I order a plain pie they don't look at me funny. Â Score two for Gino's. When I first went I tried a lain slice and a Sicilian slice since the reviews raves about it. Score three. Their Sicilian is true to the NY brand. Their slice, although not perfectly foldable was very good. And they had garlic. Can't tout NY style without that. It is about 10-15 mind from my home but I would make the drive to eat there. Well done.
Review Source:Gino's Sicilian Pizza comes per slice or by the pan. Trust me you have to share the pan family style! The dough is delicious and the toppings just right. Husband ordered the regular thin crust NY style pizza and it was a big slice. ..the kind made for folding! : ) I had the antipasto salad...which was a wooden bowl full of salad with rolled cheese, salami, pepperoni, olives, and other ingredients. Their dressing vinaigrette was home made and delicious. They do serve beer and wine. Eggplant Parmesan was A+ and plenty! Will be going back for sure. Save room for their desert!! Service was professional and friendly. No issues.
Review Source:Sorry- we ordered a small salad -  it was like a salad i can make myself from publix- $4.75 for lettuce and a cap full of dressing from a plastic container, we had "homemade" soup- this i dont know if it was homemade, as it was not very good. Finally the pizza, undercook, kinda tasteless, expected alot more taste from what i read on Yelp  on how good this pizza is, its wasnt good. I would stay with whatever pizza place you enjoy now  before trying and going to Ginos.
Review Source:To clarify this for the person making excuses for the poor attitudes I couldn't care less about southern anything as far as their attitudes go since I am not from the south myself. Â I thought they were slow, unhelpful, borderline rude, and the waitress was absolutely incompetent. Â I'm not looking for a hug..I just think the people should at least pretend to give half a crap about a customer is all. Â
I understood why one waitress had most of the tables in the place after experiencing the one who didn't. Â You are right about one thing. Â Slow and incompetent is definitely not for me. Â I won't even get into price..they are high for what you get. Â Speaking of Uncle Vito's I wish it had been that good so I could have written a better review. Â Maybe this explains some of why they used to own the Uncle Vito's and have now moved on to something else. Â Say what you want about Dagwoods and Johnny's but at least they try.
This place is owned by the folks who owned Uncle Vito's in Norcross a few years back. The pizza is that same new york quality I was used to. I grew up in new york and pretty much have pizza as a food group covered. Someone below mentioned dagwood's, if that's good pizza for you, this place is not for you. As a quick lunch place, and come on - in norcross, lunch is how you make your money, this place is perfect.
You've got to take the owner and the staff's demeanor with a grain of salt, it's who they are. Not everyone embodies the faux southern niceties. They didn't come here and tell you how to act, they simply just don't act like you. Deal. Or go back to Johnny's or something.
The crust is crispy, the cheese is not overbearing, it's not greasy, it's good. The place loses a star for being a bit unorganized - tickets dont come out in the order they go in, and for being just a bit high on the price side.
Perfect place for lunch as I work right across the street in technology park. Had a delicious slice of lasagna pizza and house salad today. Lots of flavor, but they could have kept the slice in the oven a smidge longer. The desserts look super tempting but I have yet to try one. I will be back.
Review Source:Just opened up next to the Starbuck's. Â The pizza is pretty good. Â The garlic knots could be better (i.e. more garlic please). Â This could be the best pizza place in the area, but we'll have to give it some time before making such a proclamation. Â They offer salads, calzones, stromboli, and other Italian entrees and appetizers in addition to the pizza. Â There are some deserts as well. Â Prices are reasonable. Â Service is friendly. Â They also have a small bar and a TV in the corner. Â The dining room is not very big, so I can see this place getting a tad overcrowded in the future. Â It wouldn't be a bad idea to come early for lunch or get takeout to avoid fighting for a table.
