So I decided to go to The Glenrowan after a recommendation by my mom's boyfriend. I went in on a Thursday night to watch the Knicks game. Decent crowd for around 9 pm. The bartender was an older gentleman whom everyone seemed to know by first name---awesome guy too as he was very helpful. I think everyone who works here has an Irish accent.
Anyways, I got a couple of beers (I think about $4) and then decided to get the beer-battered chicken tenders. I know people say they are good for their burgers, but I wanted to try something else. I don't think the bartender heard me say crispy fries, but outside of that, that was my only complaint. I have never had such light and crispy chicken before. The batter, which I am used to breaded chicken, had enough crispiness to it except for one or two pieces. Again, I'm sure if you ask for it crispier, it would be perfect. That with some nice thick fries and a cold beer made for a great evening. Well the Knicks being up by a lot sure does help too!
Well, well, well. I haven't been to Tara's in over 10 years, but ever since they changed their name and the outside decor, that parking lot is always packed!
So tonight I bartered: Babysitting for a Burger. The idea worked!
The girls ordered takeout and brought me a Cheeseburger Deluxe with Steak Fries. Although the fries were soggy and wet from the trapped heat, the burger was HUGE, juicy, and totally hit the spot.
Now bring me the kid. My energy level is up, and I'm ready to be Babysitter Extrordinairre!
For a bar it's not the worst honestly it just depends on your taste. The place is pretty large and it's also pretty rundown. I went to watch a Giants game and the place was pretty busy with a big party going on in the front. I ordered a bunch of food from potato skins, fish n chips, wings and I wasnt really happy with anything. It was fancy at all which I dont care about but it just kind of looked like crap. I dont need fancy presentation in a bar but this was just greasy, overfried, overcooked frozen food section garbage. I guess if you need a beer it's good enough but don't come here hungry.
Review Source:This is one of my favorite restaurants . Â The owners are so great catering to their customer. Appetizers that I love are th breaded musrooms, chicken fingers, zucchini sticks and stuffed mushrooms. They have the best Prime Rib in Town, Leg of lamb, Bear battered Shrimp/chicken finers /bbq ribs and The Big BOUY Steak are my personal favorites. Â They make the best beef barley soup I have ever had. Â Fresh potatoes and veggies famyly style . Â I love their chocolate cake and lemon cake. Â Prices are so reasonable and they have entertainment on the weekends. Â Great family restaurant.

Actually I stopped in for lunch...and a few brews. Â I've passed this place for years now and never stopped in. Â Probably because it's 8am whenever I pass by, but I had been meaning to check it out.
It's actually a lot bigger than I thought. Â The bar goes all the way around and there is seating in the back too. Â The bartender was very nice. Â Yuengling on tap is also very nice.
My barometer for food is usually a burger, since I figure if you can screw that up how in God's name can you make anything else. Â The burger did not disappoint. Â It was juicy and delicious with golden fries. Â Very good. Â I'm completely looking forward to returning and maybe trying the fish and chips.
