I had heard from a lil birdie that this may be the very best KFC in NJ (the other KFC; Korean fried chicken)
So of course I needed to try it.
It's a very very small storefront with just one table so it might be best just for take out. But I recommend against take out as you need to eat those crispy wing right there and then fresh out the fryer so not to lose nd oz of crispness.
As with all KFC since its double fried to order it is best to call your order at least 20 mins in advance so your not waiting around for it.
On to the chicken. It was very very good. Some of the most uniquely crispy wings I have had and the soy garlic sauce was just as unique, very tasty and did not ake from the wonderful flavor of the natural chicken and the lightly battered super crispy skin.
Was it the best? No, but it sure came close. The king of nj KFC for me till lies w/ peck peck in teaneck.
But for those of you in the northvale area you have three great choices to choose from each unique from the other n with bbs placed as king of the three, the other two being Mimi chicken and the always popular Bon chon.
The soy garlic sauce was very tasty, my only complaint that I wish they were covered in a bit more sauce lol
Easily the best fried chicken I've ever had. Non-greasy, good amount of seasoning, tender meat, very crispy crust. Delicious. It was a little hard to find this place. It's tucked away in a small storefront, in a strip mall just north of the old Cost Cutters strip mall. Although the space is small, the interior was very clean and bright, and there wasn't a smell of grease or frying. There was a table and a few chairs for people who are waiting to pick up, or the occasional person who eats in.
I ordered the spicy and the extra crispy wings and drumsticks, and a side of waffle fries. The sauce on the spicy chicken was great, a little sweet, a little spicy. The free pickled radish side made a great accompaniment. They had a good crunch and the right sourness to cut through the fried food. The fries were crisp and non greasy as well, and seemed to be made from fresh potato. Addictive stuff.
Update: BB's is closed. RIP to some of the best fried chicken I've ever eaten.
I love this place! With the whole Korean fried chicken craze, I have tried other chains but I prefer BBS' Chicken. First, they have this amazing flavor - hot spicy which combines with the pickled radish in this very satisfying contradiction of hot and cool. This is just one of 6 flavors possible. I like the soy zing too.
I've tried the drumsticks and tenderloins and both are great. What is cool about the chicken is that the batter is not overly heavy and greasy but just a nice crispy texture that allows you to truly appreciate the flavoring. Not only the chicken but also the sides are amazing. It's hard to choose because they all taste delicious. I really love the potato croquette and the corn dog. For those looking for more typical sides, BBS has biscuits, fries, and onion rings. There are other sides as well - check them out!
Just a note - this is a takeout place and everything is made fresh upon ordering so make sure you call ahead at least 30 minutes. Food is definitely worth the wait.
