THE WORST NAENGMYEON I (WE)  HAVE EVER HAD.

I don't know why the hoopla over this place.  The noodles are not very good and very expensive.  I have been here twice.  The broth is VERY bland (confirmed with a friend who also tried this place on the recommendation of someone), and the noodles were for the bibimnaengmyeon a bit stuck together.  Noodles stick when they are sitting around for a while.  One friend had added so much mustard and vinegar to improve the flavor, the noodle broth became mustard color.  It still tasted like water.

Also, on the last visit, the waitress gave us misinformation regarding the pricing of the mandoo (dumplings).  We wanted the 20 piece for $15.95.  She said that only the meat and shrimp dumplings were available, and each 10-piece order were normally for $8.95 each.  But, if we did order the 20-piece, only meat and shrimp will come out (the 20-piece usually comes in four assorted "flavors" not just two).  Lo and behold, our check had two orders of $8.95 rather than $15.95.  Stupid lady.

If you want good naengmyun (naengmyeon), head over to Flushing (Geumgangsan) or K-town.

BTW, the name of the place should read Hamung or Hamoong (pronounced Hah-Moong).  This crappy restaurant can't even get the translation correct.

I really wouldn't recommend any other place for nengmyun than Homung Nangmyun in Closter, NJ. They are usually busy, not open on Sundays, and have a very loyal following of customers from all parts of New Jersey.  I know for a fact that customers drive an hour or more out of their way to dine here, and it's the same reason why my family and I always come back here.  Their nengmyun is just the best. I would recommend their potato pancake as well, which is an absolute guilty pleasure of mine.  When I've had a long day and a harrowing commute home from the city, and my mom says, "you want to take a drive out to Homung Nangmyun in Closter?" I literally forget all my troubles and I'm out the door in a high speed dash to my favorite nengmyun restaurant. This is a true story, people. As I said they get very busy, but the service is fast and generous and their soup is flavored just perfectly and its unlimited which makes this place too easy to love.  I am far more critical of korean establishments in the states than other other dining places, and this place always gets five stars from me. There's no middle ground in how loyal customers feel about this restaurant; you either love it or you love it. Nothing less :)

If I lived closer, I would come more often. If you live near cloister, nj, than you should go here for some authentic Korean cold noodles. They specialize in this and is worth the trip.

Try their Korean pancake also. Not the ordinary, where the pancake is thick and the portion of ingredients are big.

I like their hot soup in the canisters.
