Mount Kisco is a great little Japanese restaurant located right off the main downtown strip in Closter, NJ. The establishment itself is very small, and offers a cozy and intimate ambiance if you choose to dine-in, though delivery and takeout are also available (and very popular, from the looks of it). There is both lot and street parking, and you typically won't have too much issue finding a space on most nights.

    Now, onto the important stuff....

A wide selection of Japanese appetizers, entrees and sushi are available. All the western favorites are here, from chicken teriyaki to the ever-popular California roll and various udon and tempura offerings. The menu certainly leans more towards the American palate and brown rice is also available from the sushi bar.

Every time I've been here, the sushi has always been fresh and expertly prepared while the sashimi is top-grade. You can choose from modestly priced sushi and sashmi dinner combination platters or make selections à la carte if you also want to have one of their excellent entrees in addition to a side of sushi.

While sushi is certainly worthy of being the star attraction of your meal, the entrees and appetizers definitely should not be ignored. There's nothing better than biting into a crispy piece of shrimp tempura or delicious deep-fried soft shell crab to start off your Mount Kisco dining experience, and dinner entree choices like the classic katsudon are perfectly seasoned and cooked.

The service at Mount Kisco is also excellent, and the knowledgeable waitstaff can easily answer any and all questions you have about the menu, and their clear explanation of dishes you may not be familiar with might even encourage you to be a bit adventurous.

I've been here twice with my boyfriend and this place is amazing.  I have yet to taste better sushi.  We used to go to Sushi Village (for all you can eat) but their special rolls are very filling and we end up paying the same as we would for an all you can eat sushi place but with much better quality.  Superb.

The sushi here is very average but the prices are great... especially during lunch time. I order from here when I need a quick bite to eat when I'm working in northern NJ.
