Had the early bird prix fixe dinner. Â Visited during a very slow tourist season with only about 6 other parties in the cavernous but elegant dining room. Â Apparently they had deployed their 2nd string wait staff. Â Food very good but service lacking. Â Happy to have not paid full ala carte prices.
Review Source:After reading some of the iffy reviews on here regarding the Grand Dining room, I was a little worried that it might kill a relatively perfect day on Jekyll. Â Boy was it a good idea to give it a chance!
After a private evening carriage ride with my boyfriend, we drove to the Jekyll Island Club Hotel and walked around looking for the dining hall. (it's directly up the stairs through the white double doors to the left) When we finally found our way to the Maitre D's area he was awaiting our arrival with our name on his lips ready to seat us. The hostess greeted us and bade us a good evening and as we followed him to our seats a violinist and pianist began to play. The Maitre D pulled my chair out for me and placed my napkin in my lap. This is a very lovely and posh place.
That night we were waited on by Brad(awesome job) who greeted us and asked if we wanted to start with a glass of
wine or a cocktail. We started our meal with two glasses of Prosecco. Delicious.
The featured appetizer that night was fried almost toasted goat cheese, so we had to try it. It was incredibly light, creamy and comforting.
Highly recommend the duck (f it's on the menu)
