Love this place when we are busy and want a tasty homemade meal. Â Â They have a sit down area which is nice. Â But for me personally I like to call it in, Â take it home and enjoy it there with my hubby. Â This is my go to spot when we want amazing takeout! Â Our food of choice: Chopped Salad and Fusilli Pesto Pasta with extra bread. Â YUM!
Review Source:Been going to Guicho's since it opened. Â The food is fresh, tasty and delicious! Â I love to take the chicken sandwich and chopped chicken salad to the beach for my husband and myself. Â The minestrone soup and pasta dishes are great during the cold winter months. Â Service is great also.
Review Source:I dont understand the 5 star reviews. Â This is supposed to indicate "as good as it gets" yet this is far from the case here. Â It has been good enough for me to visit on several occasions (both locations), but mostly because of limited options for Italian otherwise. Â I agree with the shrimp salad as being one of their better dishes. Â Most of their food is otherwise pretty average. Â A couple of reasons for only two instead of three stars:
#1 watching staff wipe off a counter after making a pan of garlic bread only to see the mess thrown back on the toast! Â Thought it might have been a "clean" counter, but a few minutes later saw that this was NOT the case.
#2 service is spotty, sometimes rude. I usually feel like customers, including myself, are only being tolerated.
Bottom line.... they dont respect their customer, they dont respect their food handling either.
AMAZING! Only place that I will go to for Italian take out. I myself, being Second generation American Italian, I feel I can make it all myself...... BUT!!! I love love love this place. Everything is wonderful. Even the people working there add some charm by being so sweet. I personally get either the TAGLIATELLI or the TORTELLINI..... La sua perfetta!
Review Source:First time = best time. Â I'm not a connoisseur of Italian food so I gave it a four based off the fact that what I'm eating is in fact true Italian (not faux), and this is what it's supposed to taste like (since I ordered something completely new to me). Â I like that their menu is simplistic so that they can better focus their efforts on select entrees. I ordered a sausage sandwich and was pleased; I would have liked a nice splash of a sauce-wasn't quite sure what condiment to add. Although it was good alone and meant to be eaten sans condiment. Â I will definitely go back there.
Review Source:Not the best, not the worst. I only eat here as much as I do because my wife likes it. Personally I think it tastes like day-old italian food that you'd bring home from a restaurant and re-heat in the microwave. The service is relatively fast for making your food on the spot and I must say the meatball sandwiches are delicious...but the pasta is just average.
Worth trying if you've never eaten here. Many people swear by it but I"m wondering if their opinion is swayed by the 20 something year old blonde who generally works the counter.
Just ate at Guicho's Eatery for the first time - Â The food is wonderful!! Â I was very impressed. Â The young man at the counter was very helpful and knowledgeable - offering suggestions. Â I decided to try the Chicken Salad - Â 3 large slices of chicken breast on top of a crisp fresh bed of romaine lettuce - grilled veggies - great dressing - I have found my New Favorite Salad place in San Clemente. Â What a Great place !!!
I highly recommend stopping by to try Guicho's Eatery on South El Camino Real in San Clemente - You will love it

Pretty tasty stuff. We've had some takeout a couple of times and the food is consistent and really good. The Fusilli Special is one of my favorites and the Caprese Sandwich (although a little pricy for  just a sandwich) is great and hubs digs the meatball sub (and He's really picky). The food isn't greasy, heavy or overly acidy. I've found some takeout heavy and yucky... Good for a Quick Bite....
Review Source:I give this place 2 stars because we tried several times to have Guicho's cater our wedding, and the lack of communication was unbelievable! Everytime we tried to set something up, "will call by 4:30", never called. "We will email you tonight", never got an email, "sorry, can we call you back in an hour?" never took my number nor called. The food is just ok i dont see why people think this is the best italian food, its not its just inexpensive and simple. So if you wanting quick and easy food go for it but if your wanting this place to cater for a party/wedding, good luck. Very poor costumer service
Review Source:Don't judge a book by its cover, or a restaurant by its boring sign and weird location in a sketchy 7-11 strip mall. Amazing takeout! I'm pretty partial to the chopped salad, sans chicken because I am both a vegetarian and a creature of habit. The garlic bread is so good I could easily eat and entire loaf and not feel bad about  myself.
Review Source:2 words... MEATBALL SANDWICH!!!
This place has amazing Italian takeout. Call in your food, pick it up, take it home, throw it on a plate and tell your honey you made it yourself. If they didn't already love you, they will now.
The pasta is always al dente. The salads are crisp. It's always hard to skip the meatball sandwich though. Try it, you will not be disappointed.
Just in San Clemente for an afternoon and was so happy to find this place courtesy of Yelp. Â The owner was there and very nice, the food, wow. The food was so fresh and delicious. Â I had the Chicken sandwich and it came with a salad (very green and fresh). Â I would very highly recommend this for anyone who is driving through town or in town looking for something fresh to eat. Â There are a few seats and tables there, but why sit there when you can eat on the beach only 2 minutes away? (driving)
Give them more biz. Â Great food, great service, great people.
We have gone to Guichos as long as I can remember it being there. It has a limited menu but each item listed is done to perfection. The roasted tomatoes make everything special. I often get the tortellini in cream sauce, it has the perfect blend of seasonings and simply makes us happy!
The house salad is huge and enough for two. It comes with a piece of garlic bread and this dressing that should be bottled and sold separately. The chicken sandwich is also amazing with the brie and some kind of spicy sauce for a slight little kick.
We have ordered takeout when we have visitors from out of state and/or out of country. When they return for a subsequent visits, they request that we go for dinner at Guichos. Our friend from Japan has even brought co-workers on business trips and taken them there to give it a try.
Guichos is amazing.
SUPER fresh ingredients, unique flavor combinations, reasonable prices (not cheap, but not expensive, and when you try the food, it's definitely worth the price)!
The owner of this place is really friendly. I would go here for the food even if the service was not so friendly, however, the fact that the owner is extremely nice, remembers customers' names and orders, and makes an effort to make food quickly despite being busy, are a huge added bonus.
My favorites are the salads here. I have never had a single ingredient in a salad here not be fresh. Everything else here is also consistently great, I just have yet to find a better place for salads in the OC.
As other reviewers have said, there is no seating here, it's definitely a take out place ... next to a 7-11 and a parking lot.
Visited a year and half ago... super late review.
Food is super delicious! Â We were there for lunch and then returned for dinner on the same day! Â Since we were on vacation there without a car, getting to the restaurant was an adventure... it involved buses and taxis but was so very worth it! Â For lunch we had the jumbo mushroom raviolli and hearts of palm salad. Â So good! Â Plus the service was amazing, the owner Luis was attentive and friendly. Â In the evening our experience was not equally pleasant. Â The order was wrong (chicken raviolli was good though) and we were sent next door to buy a soda. Â Regardless, food is great and we are totally planning on returning to Guicho's.
After an afternoon of tennis and the chaotic beach near San Clemente Pier we decided to get some food. Â Thought of going to the nearby, as in right on the beach, food stand of the Fisherman's restaurant but neither of us were in the mood for fried foods. Â We decided to just go Mexican and found Guicho's -- this place is certainly NOT mexican food, thanks smart phone... but definitely not disappointed.
The place is definitely more for a takeout kind of deal, since there is a lack of indoor eating space - as in a bar and some stools. Â However, we got the one plastic table out front. Â It was fine for us, but it's definitely just in a parking lot... shared with a 7-11. Â
Anyway, it's all about the food!
Arugula Salad: Yummmm... What a refreshing side, instead of chips or fries, on a hot summer day. Â Not that there is even a choice to get fries or chips, let's just say it was just what we wanted. Â The dressing was lemony goodness and can I just say the shaved parmigiano was DELICIOUS.
Chicken Sandwich: Can I just say, "yessss..." I loved this sandwich. Â Everything, from bread to cheese to the meat was just delicious. Â I loved the ciabatta bread, soft and warm, but crusty enough to hold the sandwich together - loved. Â The brie cheese was melted and gooey, the chicken was moist, and the roasted tomatoes were the perfect mix of smoky/tang that really made this sandwich great.
Overall: I would definitely come here again. Â I am definitely down for trying their pastas out.

This place really for take out only, it has about 5 bar stools against the window and im assuming their really just meant for waiting on, than to actually eat comfortably there. The menu isn't LARGE , but  I was interested and didn't know what to expect. I ordered the Grilled chicken salad, The linguini and my boyfriend ordered the meatball sammie.
Came home with the comida and chowed down. Their 2 thin sliced garlic bread was bomb and sprinkled mozzarella  cheese yummmo! Now again I didn't know what to  expect with my dish, it has green & white linguine, tiger shrimp, bay scallops, mushrooms, green onions, white wine, light marinara, red crushed, pepper. It was bland at first BUT when you let it settle overnight and reheat for lunch its BOMB!  Nice fat shrimps were filling for me mmmm. Again it was tasteless  at first but overnight settling helps ALOT.  Now the grilled chicken salad was BOMB but with my Kens steakhouse dressing, I cheated, I didn't use  their balsamic dressing, I don't do those foo foo dressings. I tell you this salad is so good its with mixed greens, chicken breast, tomatoes, red onions, roasted bell peppers, fontina cheese, whatever box they use for take it, its heavy duty and keeps the greens extra crisp even after 3 days in the fridge !!!! It was still good and fresh as if I just ordered it!  My bf wasn't feelin the meatball sammie, it came with a side of marinera sauce, I didn't try it but it was a good size sammie. He really wanted lasagna but they ran out , I just think we came in 45min b4 closing and they didn't wanna make that shit, but who cares,  I enjoyed my meal LOL :p Â
I'd come back here for sure.
The only Italian spot in South OC worth spending money at... It's funny that it's primarily a takeout only spot but that's fine as I'm only a few blocks away.
Dishes to get: Chopped Salad, Penne Eggplant, Meatballs, The Seafood Pasta with the sherry sauce... epic! Luis the owner is there a ton and a great guy. Forget Sunny's and the other overpriced and overrated spots in town and just get Guicho's and a nice bottle of wine to enjoy at home.
Set in an unassuming tiny strip mall anchored ny a 7-11 on the south side of town, Guicho's is a gem.
Gourmet Italian takeout with a table or two out front, they have been quality since the day they opened their doors.
The shrimp salad is crispy and garlicky, the pasta is creamy and al dente, as it should be.
The staff is always smiling, and more time than not you will deal directly with the owner. I would not hesiate to use them for a catered event.
The portions are on the small side, so order an appetizer.
Guichos is a family owned restaurant that specializes in high quality food at a reasonable price. The first time I went I was told that I had to get the chicken sandwich and I did. Wow was it good. Grilled chicken on chibatta roll with a chipotle mayo and roasted tomatoes with some brie in there as well.
I have also tried the Fusilli w/ Pesto and that was amazing as well. Pasta was a perfect al dente with a light coating of their creamy pesto.
You havent been to San Clemente until you have tried Guicho's.
AMAZING!
I have been lucky enough to be enjoying Guicho's food from when they opened.
Unassuming location, two small patio tables to eat there, small - nothing to indicate that in the kitchen some of the best Italian food, besides your Nona's house, is being concocted!
Pasta is always al dente, presented beautifully, staff super friendly, restaurant is spic-and-span clean. Â
The food is sooooo delicious!
If you want something not on the menu, no problem! Â They will make you any pasta dish you want as long as they have the ingredients.
Being a San Clemente local but from New Jersey, I'd pretty much tired of telling people that there are no decent Italian places around. Just about any neighborhood pizza place in NJ, NY, Boston, etc is so much better quality than the Italian Restaurants in the OC.
This place is the only Italian in South OC that I actually enjoy and it is a takeout place run by Mormons! That's what I love about America, Mormon Italian food and Mexican Chinese.
Highly recommended!
