Dunno how many times we have decided to go to Dead Lobster (aka Red Lobster) on Greenburg Rd only to find a huge wait.  Today, Mothers Day, we met with in-laws and great grandmas for a large party and Red Lobster gave us the iconic pager and a quote of !!2.5 hours to wait!!  NO WAY.  And this was at 3:45 PM..not exactly prime time dinner hour.  Oh Well-on to the actual review:

So we trecked across the parking lot to Gustav's for a 10 minute wait and sat on the patio...which was nice until the rain came.  Grand daughter and I split the Fondue Sampler and I ordered potato pancakes and she had lentil soup...how many 8 year olds like lentil soup?  For that matter, how many like Fondue?

Our server was efficient, friendly and there when we needed her.  I had their special Blackberry margarita which was to die for.  The potato pancakes were nicely crispy with a good sour cream and applesauce to spread on them.  The serving of 3 were more than I could finish with the Fondue but I passed them around and they got eaten up with lots of yummy! comments.

There were orders of pork loin which seemed to be a hit, spaezel alfredo, and one basic steak and fries order.  Everyone seemed pleased with their food and we were finished half an hour before we would have been seated at Dead Lobster...sorry family joke there.

I'm sure Gustaves gets lots of their customers as overflow from the usually horrendous wait at RL.  It's a shame they choose to not take reservations.  Very frustrating.  However as long as there is a viable alternate to the wait I'm sure we lemmings will continue to try to get into RL.

Daughter, the beer specialist ordered a german dark lager , then ordered it again and again.  Good thing her hubby was driving.

For a party of 8 the $150.00 bill which included drinks was reasonable and the service was excellent.  The patio will be very nice when it's not raining, which it really was when we finished.  Wouldn't ya know?

    Good place to go.

Service attentive, food good and easy set-up for business discussion over lunch. Corned Beef so mouth watering...belly loves me, arteries not so much.

I'll start out by saying I haven't had much German food and I did not drink any of the beer.  I considered myself a bit of a foody living in multiple states and I have eaten at a lot of places.  I didn't find there food special at all.  First of all, when I spend $15 a plate I expect to leave full not hungry, portions are a bit small. My dish,  schnitzel and my wife's, lamb lacked spices to include salt and pepper.  The best part of the meal was the dinner rolls, nice crust with a slightly sour chewy center but you have to ask to get the free bread.  The rolls aren't enough for this guy to go back but if I did it would be to try the beer.
