Two of us went for lunch. Â Very nice upstairs room. Â The tables are a fancy iron work design that's not good for cleaning little bits of food out of, or resting your arms on. Â I don't mind paying a little more for good food, my sushi restaurant bills will vouch for that. Â $13 for a burger, that's ok, but $1 for onions and $2 for cheese, seriously? Â I ordered a pulled turkey sandwich on a crusty roll with apple wood bacon. Â The crusty roll turned out to be toast. Â The pulled turkey turned out to be turkey chunks and the bacon was just bacon and only one piece. Â The crab nachos were plentyfull and looked nice, but the crab had no taste.
The waitress was nice but could have paid more attention, like coming back to see if we were ok.
This is our second try after a so-so first lunch. Â I don't think there will be a third.
Old meat! So grossly over-priced. I understand nothing is perfect, but you have to try in this day-in-age of online reviews. My brother got the game sampler- biggest rip off ever, but only because more than half the meat had obviously turned. I had the rabbit special, again severely overpriced because of the old meat and inferior ingredients and spices. All I could really taste was the disgusting "jus" sauce glopped all over it.
I couldn't say anything because my family is bothered when I do, for I have a much sharper pallet, and it was a big deal for my brother that we go there. My heart broke when I saw the bill considering how disappointed we all really were. The waiter was alright and nice, but stopped filling my mom's water glass toward the end of our stay, and I could tell she felt bad about it- self concious and forgettable. Just awful.
The beer and wine was good. The chili was probably the best thing ordered between the lot of us. Also the mushroom soup was quite good. But nothing like being excited about good apps and drinks, then horrible entrées, a waiter who loses interest because he knows he'll make a good tip based on what's ordered, all to be tallied up on a grossly unfair bill. Go to ranchero across the street!
The deck is great, nice breezes and good service. Â The food was just ok. The chicken sandwich was good. Homemade chips weren't very flavorful and you can't get fries upstairs. Â White Wine was warm.
Hubby had a salad with flat iron steak. He had to send it back because the waiter didn't ask him how he wanted it. Too raw. Came back, salad was gone and it was pretty tough. Â
I love the bar and restaurant itself but I just have not been able to like the food. Great beer selection so maybe just go and drink.
