This place has the best bar scene in Hockessin. They are always open until 1am and always have food available until they close with a decent bar food menu. The bartenders are great. They know their customers by name and make decent mixed drinks. I do however wish they would change their menu. The meals are decent but nothing special and a bit pricey. The servers are decent but could be a bit more attentive for a classy place. The parking lot is always full of BMWs and Mercedes and this place attracts the classier people from the area. They are family friendly. But there just isn't anything that stands out as a good meal from their menu. I even forget what I had. They seem to specialize in chorizo sausage and have 4 meals on the menu with it as the main ingredient. It would be nice if they changed it and added some healthier choices. I had the spinach salad and it was tasty but kind of small.
So I would give them 5 stars for the bar and great bartenders but 2 stars for the food, not that the food was ever bad, just not anything special and I'm looking for more unique food at classier and more expensive places.
My sister and I took our mom out here for a low-key, but still nice, Mother's Day dinner. Â Â When we walked in there were only a few tables occupied by other guests and plenty of staff on for the amount of guests in the restaurant. Â The interior and the atmosphere inside was very nice and comfortable. Â So we were seated right away at a nice booth and after a few minutes our server came over to ask us for our drinks.
For the meal, we ordered two appetizers, the tuna bites and one of their flat breads. Â both were very good and everyone was pleased. Â Our entrees were all delicious as well, but nothing extremely outstanding. Â We each got a dessert and either coffee or tea at the end of the meal. Â Overall, we really enjoyed all of our food, even had to box some up and take it home because we were so stuffed.
However, the service there was a little annoying. Â We had a waitress, I wish I remembered her name, but she seemed like she was in a rush the entire time even though she only had three or four tables. Â Each time she flitted by our table it was only for a few seconds and she spoke a mile a minute. Â That threw off our whole vibe at dinner to the point where, at times, she would walk away and we were all sitting there with a confused look on our face and we had to digest what we just heard. Â The girl seemed very nice, she just seemed frazzled all the time. Â I was surprised she didn't make any mistakes at the pace she was going.
But, again, overall it was a nice meal, and the three of us eventually just started to tune out our waitress and enjoy our own company.
Oh, I forgot one odd thing that we encountered. Â Two of the entrees that my mom ordered were out of stock. Â One of which was a special, which is understandable because there is only limited supply of special dishes. Â The other, however, was the lobster lasagna, which was a regular menu entree. Â This struck me as extremely off because if there is an entree on your regular menu, you should always have plenty of it and the kitchen should always be prepared for anyone to order any entree off of their regular menu.
