In a nutshell, an attendant mistakenly removed our drinks from the table when we stepped away for a few minutes to socialize with the crowd.  When we complained, the manager outright refused to replenish our drinks.  Very disappointing, poor people skills, and bad customer service.

I attended Half Note for Father's Day Brunch with my family.  I heard a lot about the restaurant, so I was excited to give it a try.  For brunch, Half Note offered a buffet that included an omelet station, waffle station, grits, eggs, pork and turkey sausage, bacon, fried fish, baked salmon, salmon cakes, yams, fried chicken, mixed veggies, greens, home fries, mac & cheese, crab legs, and steamed shrimp.  The buffet also comes with a complimentary mimosa. All of this for 26.95. Now here is the low-down:

    Positives:
    - The food was well seasoned and quite tasty; I absolutely LOVED how the baked salmon was prepared.
    - Waffles can be prepared with several different condiments from chocolate chips to chocolate sauce, to strawberries and whipped cream. There is even sugar-free syrup
    - Omelet station had a variety of options including shrimp with old bay and Cajan seasonings to add to your omelet.
    - Omelet chef was very professional and speedy in preparing omelets.

    Negatives:
    - My waitress was slow and often no where to be found. When she was around, I found her to be somewhat inattentive.
    - The complimentary mimosa was HORRIBLE. It tasted watered down, or perhaps the champagne was flat.
    - The buffet line was extremely long and slow to move through. This is partially because a server must actually plate food for customers. I understand Half Note is trying to maintain some kind of serving size and ration out the food properly but this greatly slows down the line.  During my time at the buffet, there were only 2 servers for a full buffet of food!
    - The waffle line is entirely too slow.  There needs to be at least 4 waffle makers in service during peak hours.

Bottom Line: I would return to Half Note for brunch only because the food was good. But my expectations for good service won't be high at all.

The Basics: Half Note is a small restaurant and bar/lounge. It has live music and regular happy hours, and serves brunch, lunch, and dinner. The crowd is primarily African American professionals in their 30s, 40s, and 50s. Half Note is located off of Route 450 in Bowie inside a small outdoor shopping center (strip mall).

Review: I am being generous in giving Half Note two stars because the service does not even deserve one star. I have visited this restaurant/lounge on several occasions with friends and have repeatedly received terrible service. I have only returned because friends selected the place to celebrate special events. The food, drinks, and music are great (hence the two stars), but the place is overpriced and not worth the trouble. Half Note has the potential to be an enjoyable spot to listen to live music, but before this can happen, there need to be major changes in management, staffing, and the way groups and customers are treated and handled.

I went there on a Friday night around 11pm, the band was nice and it was pretty crowded. I didnt eat there cause i wasn't hungry and it was too late for me to eat. I was surprised cause it's in PG County and I try to stay away from it but the place was nice, the crowd was mature, early 30s. Everyone was dressed nicely and acting growing up which is a plus. I will definitively go there to try the food.

Overall, Half Note is lacking excellence.

    The good:
The entertainment!  The band was phenomenal.  This is the second time I saw the Style Band at Half Note and I would love to see them again,  This visit we were all surprised by a performance by Keith Washington.

    The bad:
The drink was just basic.   While it had good flavor, there was too much soda.
The server was not attentive.  I had to call out to her several times to order my drink.

    The ugly:
After 11:30 they offer an after hours menu which includes Chicken and Waffles.  The short menu described it as chicken wings and a waffle.  I ordered this item, and was served a waffle, a small drumstick and a thigh.  Assuming this was a mistake, I thought I could get the chicken replaced.  By the time I flagged down the server, she is bringing my check and I had finished the waffle.  I told her of the mistaken chicken.  She tells me that as long as she worked there, they served the drumstick and the thigh with the waffle.  I double checked the menu and it clearly says chicken wings.  So I asked her to swap the chicken for wings and put them in a doggie bag.  She says ok.  I get my payment ready with the check.  She comes back and tells me they are taking care of my order.  So I give her my payment with her tip.  She takes the money.  She then comes back to my table faster than any other time that evening to tell me they do not have any wings for the late night menu.  The manager said the wings are for the earlier menu.  I am confused because I clearly have a late night menu in my hand with wings as a menu item.  So she asked me if I wanted two drumsticks.  I tell her no, but I would like a refund.  She goes away, comes back and tells me the manager said he would give me 75% off the dish since I ate the waffle.  I asked her to get the manager.    He comes to the table.  I reiterate the whole story to him asking for a refund for the dish.  He says, lets keep it real, you ate the waffle.   Wow.  OK, I tell him I assumed I would be able to get the correct menu items thinking the chicken was sent to me as an oversight.   I also told him that he had poor customer service.  He refused again, but eventually said he would issue a refund.  The server came back with my refund minus the tax.

It seems there are some basic hospitality lessons to be learned by the staff and management of Half Note.   Unfortunately, this below-par level of service and communication is not what I expect at an establishment.  If the menu item is changed 1) change the menu, or 2) explain to the customer BEFORE they order. Lastly, when issuing a refund, please issue the whole refund including the tax.

I've been here twice.  The first time, one member of our group who was visiting from out of town had on tennis shoes and was refused admission, so we took our party of 10+ to another location.  The few minutes I had to peek around, I thought it looked like it might be a cool vibe, so I was excited to go back again this past weekend.

It was Saturday night.  We were celebrating a birthday and our group had 15 people in it.  The leader of our group called earlier in the week and asked to make a reservation and was told that you can only make a reservation more than 3 weeks in advance.  Upon arrival, we had gift bags with wine bottles for the birthday girl.  The hostess told us we couldn't bring them in so we had to take them back out to the car.  I get it, they don't want people bringing in their own alcohol, but part of being an upscale establishment is treating people as if they were upscale clientele.  Don't assume that we're going to be low class and sip out of own bottles instead of ordering from your bar.  If you catch someone doing that later, THEN say something.  It's called customer service.  Our waitress only came by to check on us once a hour, so it was clear they weren't all that concerned about keeping our glasses full from THEIR bar, so they shouldn't even care if people bring their own wine.

After we sat at our tables, we asked if we could pull our tables together so our group could have group conversations during dinner.  Absolutely NOT.  Our entire group sat at tables next to each other, but we weren't allowed to pull the tables together.  The music was so loud that you could barely hear the person sitting next to you - that was even as early as 7pm.  We came for dinner but our waitress was NOT attentive at all.  I had to get up and find condiments in their bus stations and clear our table of dishes by taking them up to the station on my own.  It was the worst service I've had in a long time.  And at least another member of our group was turned away for inappropriate shoes (they were nice casual shoes with black soles but rubber black soles - were told that no rubber soles allowed, this was after the person had driven all the way home to change shoes after being turned away the first time).   Other notable dress codes were admitted - people who WERE allowed in - the guy in the flannel shirt and puffy vest.  The guy in the pimp crown. The guy in the snap-back mesh ball cap.  I love an establishment that enforces a dress code - but this place's dress code is not clearly articulated (nothing on their website), is not enforced equally, and is often enforced with excessive attitude from the host stand.  It does not make people feel welcome or included.  It makes people feel like a lower class of people who are barely tolerated.  If you treat people as if they are trying to get over on you, you chase away the high class people - the very clientele that you are trying to be exclusively for.  Attitude and unfriendliness begets attitude and unfriendliness.

The atmosphere, considering it IS an older crowd, I was expecting it to be more sophisticated and more of a jazz lounge feel.  You absolutely CANNOT have a conversation here.  It's just too loud.  It doesn't feel like a restaurant.  The tables don't really turn over like a real restaurant because the service is so inadequate.  It feels more like a night club. Loud music that you have to scream over, people standing shoulder to shoulder, fighting to get a drink at a bar.  It's that kind of vibe.  A night club for the over-35 crowd.  It's not a good thing.

The only thing that didn't suck was the food.  And it wasn't spectacular. The menu isn't very extensive.  The food was so-so.  When it arrived it was warm, brought by kitchen runners, not our waitress.  Had we waited for our waitress to get back to us to bring condiments and stuff, the food would have been cold.   The tap water in the water glasses had a horrible taste. I think that was what was wrong with the iced tea I ordered and sent back.  The water is terrible.  Ask for bottled water or stick to diet coke or bottled beverages like beer.

If you do decide to try this place out, definitely have a plan B.  Some members of your group will probably not get through the dress code - so be prepared to party on without your whole team.  You might want to eat before you go.  It might be good place to visit after a nice dinner somewhere else - come after dinner and stand around listening to music and dance.  You won't be able to get a seat so wear comfortable shoes.

We won't be going back.  No way.

My family joined here to have my nieces 21st Birthday party.  The dry and dirty is:
Food... was so-so, the spinach dip was good, wings were average, shrimp and grits were tasteless (we sent the dish back).  Other family members enjoyed the rack of lamb and steak dish but I can't vouch for it. The peach sangria was pretty darn good if you are into sweet drinks..

The lighting is awful in this place - so bad that I had to ask my waitress for table candles.  Speaking of which, the waitress was HORRIBLE!!!  Her service was below average and she kept mistaking to light skin gentlemen at my table for the same person and said "I'm sorry they just look so much alike"... let's just say we were a tad bit offended.  She also needs to invest in a pen and pad because she butchered our orders and the bill was a hot mess with gouda cheese at the end of the night!

Now, the Karaoke stage is awesome!  And the DJ played tunes that I enjoyed but it is definitely a 40+ crowd.

I gave this place 3 stars because of the location, decor, the guy who greeted me at the door and the bartender.

I didn't eat anything. The drink was tasty and strong. The crowd was older clientele.

I don't think anyone there was anyone under 35 BUT ME and my FRIEND! LOL while it seemed like it could be a nice chill spot it just wasn't the crowd for me. On the other hand I have been to other spots where the crowd was a little older but they were cool, laid back, partying, etc. The crowd here seemed like they were hornets protecting there nest LOL

Unless I am invited to a party or some other kind of event I don't think I will be going back. If I do, I'll definitely update ya

Excellent Food, Average Beer selection, Nice Decor. Always crowded get there early stay late and always have a DD.  The sound system was loud and I would say the sound quality was below average.  The waitstaff were slow and overworked but attentive (meaning when you did get their attention they took care of you). They could benefit by having a full time sound tech. and a better beer selection.

Nightlife only: I only come to Half Note for the night entertainment because there's really nothing on the menu for me to eat (gluten-free).  They have a live band every Saturday.  I also like the mature crowd.  I'm in my early 30's and typically the youngest in the place.  Don't be surprised if they play a line dancing song. Yeah, that type of mature crowd.  It's nothing like the lounges you'd find in DC and I guess a lot more soulful considering it's in Bowie.  I always have a good time.  Service can be a little slow if you're not at the bar ordering drinks.  If you come here on a Saturday after 8pm, you will be charged a $10 cover for entry.  Yes, even if you're there to eat.  It seems to be a great place for birthday celebrations.  Overall, my experience has always been great.

Came here for the Sunday brunch. Much larger selection than I expected. I mean who eats crablegs for breakfast? I was!!  Tried the Belgian waffle station and that was great. The lady really takes her time with presentation to ensure everyone walks away with a pretty plate.  I wish I would have taken advantage of the omelet bar.  I think its a little overpriced for what the brunch is worth. I could tell others obviously thought the same as many folks who were done eating when I sat down were still there when I left. Waiting to get hungry again so they could go back for another round and feel like they got their money's worth. Lol.  Im glad we came here early before the church crowd arrived as I imagine it would get packed quickly as there isnt a vast amount of seating.

I'll probably come back here for happy hour or something, but not brunch.

Came here for Sunday brunch to catch up with a friend.  She chose this place based on her past experiences there.  Let's just say she is no longer allowed to pick places to go when we hang out.

The restaurant is located in a strip mall and is not far the entrance/exit ramps of Route 50 in Bowie.  Ample parking is available.  Once inside, the decor is intimate with a homey sort of feel.  The slow jazz/r&b playing in the background is a nice touch.

The service is scattered and that's putting it mildly.  The servers and the runners are not on the same page and as such the service ends up being disjointed.  Took forever to get refills on drinks and get the bill.

The place was packed and so the seating situation was kinda tight.  Looking to have a private/intimate conversation without feeling like your neighbor is "ear hustling"?  Try going elsewhere.

The food was served buffet style.  Immediately you notice that there was a limited amount of food items and several dessert items.  As much I like dessert, I'm not sure about paying $20-$25 a person to eat cake for brunch.  The few actual food options were average at best and the lack of variety was painfully evident.  The chicken options (fried/baked, etc.) were just ok, nothing memorable.  On the bright side, the waffle station was a good option and the waffle came out hot and balanced.  There was a large variety of desserts but nothing really stood out.

All in all, IMO I don't think this place is worth it for brunch.  It may be nice to go for some of their events (they have live band nights, comedy shows, etc.) but the food.....no bueno.  The brunch at Big Fish Grille in Crofton is comparably priced and MUCH better.

I was really planning to blast this place - as it deserves a NO STAR rating whatsoever, but I see that others have already stated what is obviously the "norm" here - NO SERVICE and NO CUSTOMER SERVICE.  And to the reviewer that mentioned talking to management - don't waste your time - we tried that as well.  There were TWO managers standing together watching the show (as though THEY were patrons) while their staff was doing nothing to take care of the guests.  When i voiced our complaints to "management" - they first tried to pass me off to the "other manager" - then, when I finished my litany of issues, one of the manager's walked away.

I no longer feel the need to provide details of the horrible experience we had there because I'm sure this place will soon be under new management or new ownership because there's no way they can stay in business as they currently operate.

One very serious word of warning to unsuspecting customers... if you are buying tickets in advance for the live bands - BE SURE TO ASK WHERE YOUR SEAT(S) are located, because your reservation just may be back in the "private room" where you CANNOT SEE THE STAGE OR THE PERFORMANCE THAT YOU PAID FOR.  And their only response will be "this is what happens when you buy your tickets at the last minute - we will give you your money back if you want to leave".   There are no concessions made to accommodate you or make you want to ever come back.  WE CERTAINLY WILL NOT.

We had been dying to try this place out since it opened.  My husband reserved a section for my birthday celebration. Whoot!  The food was delicious, but very slow coming out. Drinks were good. I had a yummy Godiva Chocolate Martini that rivaled the one I make at home for myself. Our server was pleasant but again, slow. It wasn't wall-to-wall crowded like we thought it would be. The Band - the Band was out of sight! I believe their name was "Stylin". Hey don't judge after the third chocolate martini's you'd forget the band's name too!

Everyone in ny party had a nice time, As in any club type atmosphere, the men start acting like vultures and bold desparate woman start trying to finesse their way into a man's pocket, any man's pocket, so after a while, I had my husband escort me to the ladies room and vice versa.  All and all we had a great time and would probably do it again., I'd love to try their brunch.  Just bring your patience.

Had a real good time here. The drinks were good and the catfish was excellent. We arrived early (about 5:30) for happy hour and stayed for the band's first set. We had no problem getting to the bar and getting a table. By 8:00 the place is full and you will have a wait for a table and there's standing room only at the bar.

I went here for karaoke and had a good time due to the $5 appetizer prices and the $5 lemon drop martinis...karaoke was good...facilitator talked way too much...was home by 9:30 with a full belly and a slight buzz and only spent $65...so that is a good night for me...I would go again.

I went to HN for the first time last night, the decor was nice, I was there early to avoid the crowd.  It was freezing in there, eventually it warmed up.

Once I seen the menu, I was real excited, doesn't take much for me, a few things I did notice...the cocktail drinks were awfully overdone, they do no skimp that's certain.
In all my life, I never had to return a drink before for being too strong.....even for me.....I was too afraid to order another drink, my friends who accompanied me who are connoisseurs of cocktails were sending their drinks back as well

I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass, they didn't have the bass, so they gave me grouper instead, no problems there, good presentation, but the food was cold, very bland and the sauce tasted hellova' horrible.

Considering the state of the food, I didn't finish, I was hoping I could score points with dessert...however the waitress never asked us if we wanted dessert. She did zip through quick enough for water *sigh*

The other servers were good and place until the crowds came in.  The band was mediocre, I wouldn't be following them.

As a previous poster said, I too would really like this establishment to succeed, they just need to tightn' things up a bit possibly firing their chef and retraining the wait staff including the mixologist.

I like Half Note and really want it to succeed.  I remember when it was Reggie's.  The food has been great every time I've been.  However, the last time we went there, the overall experience was not great.  We had to wait almost TWO hours for a table.  That wouldn't have been bad if they had TOLD US UP FRONT that it was a long wait.  It was too crowded at the bar so we just stood there in front of it talking for over an hour and half. I'm not sure how long it was but just as I couldn't take standing and moving out of people's way any longer and was about to tell my boyfriend I wanted to leave and was starving, they finally called us over.  Well....we had to SHARE a table with two others.  They were also upset by the wait and we all just wanted to eat - forget being alone.  It was two ladies so they felt bad that they had to join us on our 'date' but hey, like I said, by then we were all just starving.

Well, the food and music was good - we were really enjoying ourselves after an hour or so and hold up!  The waitress came over and told us they needed our table for other patrons!  We were all highly ticked off that after waiting soooo long to finally sit down, now they wanted to rush us out for the table!  We didn't think so!  We didn't move and we would have had words with the manager if the waitress had tried to make us leave.  We stayed as long as we wanted and ended up having a good time but I'm skeptical about going back any time after 8PM if the wait will be that long again!

I sincerely hope some changes are made to accomodate more people or maybe they should stop letting people in for dinner after a certain number is reached.  They could have at least TOLD us the wait was going to be over an hour and a half so we could have gone somewhere else.

Ok....I read the reviews and I can say I've been to Half Note a couple of time because one of my friends is in a band that plays there often. I really want to give them a good review because they have so much potential. BUT facts are facts and the service isn't the best. The food is awesome though and the drink are good and strong. I personally think I may talk to management next time I go and tell them the deal because it is crazy. This would truly be my spot if service was better. It's close to my house, not too expensive, good music....yeah, old guys hit on me, but I rather an old guy hit on me versus some little kid saying, hey shawty!!!!

SO all in all, I like this place, but I think we need to voice our concerns to management so they can improve.

No stars! No hostess attention. That's forgivable because we quickly sashayed to the bar. We literally watched the bartender walk by like 10+ times just doing whatever. It had to be 15 minutes before she came over and spoke at a whisper. I don't know what she mumbled I just asked for their menu. Too expensive to never get served. The bar was stocked with a nice array of liquor but clearly if you were dying of thirst you would have been a skeleton on a barstool! I left. I gave up. So Half Note, get your game up! I like to eat, chill and get good vibe. Thanks to a few of your patrons, it had a teeny little friendly little vibe. Everything else was a zero. What a Shame...

Stacey S. and  I went to the Half Note Lounge. I do not care for this place as an evening venue. Men and women grind pelvises to a band doing covers of Alicia Keys' songs. Men roll up on women in the parking lot with that same tired line "Um scu me you murried?" __AND__ try to touch you at the same time. Yuck.

We arrived around 12:00 midnight. The band did 1 or 2 covers and started breaking things down.

After cleanup, they started setting up for the brunch. This $25.95 brunch could apparently be had for $2.00 off with the presentation of a church program.

I might go back for that. Otherwise, no pelvis grinding for me.

    Half Note?
It's more like Half A$$ Service
I wish I could give this place ZERO stars.

Please folks stop bringing 'lounges' to shopping centers acting high dollar with no daggon class.  I went here with an open mind for a birthday party. Needless to say, the bar manager had the whack security guy TELL me to move from the bar because I was not with my designated party and not giving the bartender any patronage. After I attempted to plead my case that I had a tab at the bar, he said I couldn't sit there because I already told him I was with the  birthday party. I asked top flight security to have the bar manager come over (Chris was his name). Well, Chris never came over. I was planning on having a great night with my family and friends with music and drinks.   I moved, closed my tab, and left. I will NEVER return to  this place again. Well, I saved a few hundred dollars and went the heck home. Half note will never receive  a single dollar from me again. If anyone asks me about this place, I will not advise them to go to such a less than quality place.

I went to the Half Note for dinner so I can't tell you anything about the band. However, I heard the band is great so I will definitely be going back to experience that. MD restaurants/lounges seem to always be located in centre areas connected to other businesses so it throws you off a bit from the parking lot because other businesses seem to be doing pretty good as well (i.e., barber shops, etc). HOwever, when you get inside the ambiance is great and when I went which was around 6:30pm, I was able to get seating immediately. Although they had soft music playing and drinking were flowing the place was not loud. It was actually kind of calm. The bar area is to the left and the dinner area is to the right so thats great to get some alone time if you are on a date. I think its a great place for a date. The drinks are high ($10 each for whatever it was I drunk) It was a large drink though so that was good. I did not finish the one I had....maybe if my intention was too get tipsy maybe but I was good. The band was setting up as I was leaving and they did not kill the mood as they set up so that was great. The staff was great as well. Make a reservation if possible, made everything flow smooth.

Management could definitely benefit from a few business management and customer service courses.  I went to Half Note with two colleagues who were in the area on business travel.  We were denied access to the restaurant because my male colleague was wearing a blazer, a white button-down collared shirt, blue jeans, and white sneakers (not an athletic running shoe, but a casual sneaker....OH THE HORROR!).  Heaven forbid they admit a casually dressed young professional into their establishment with sneakers on, which the manager described as being "too white."  I guess other patrons would have noticed that the supposedly upscale, yet strip-mall based establishment actually let someone into such a fine dining venue with sneakers on.  And might I add, other patrons donning less professional or less classy attire (i.e. tight denim shorts, tank tops, etc.) were admitted without issue.

Needless to say, I will never return.  I have never been to a restaurant that turns patrons away simply because of their shoes.  Nor have I ever dined in any "upscale" establishments (and I have dined at many) that needed a police officer at the door.  This is a sign of poor customer service.  If Half Note is attempting to deter a certain type of patron from entering it's doors, good luck.... any "thug" can slip on a pair of dress shoes.

On the company's website, there is no mention of a dress code.  The restaurant's proprietor states "Our #1 priority is to provide the customer service experience you expect, one that is inviting and enjoyable, not contentious or confrontational, one that makes you feel like you deserve to feel when patronizing an establishment, one that makes you want to come again and again.  We hope to give you an amazing experience at the Half Note Lounge."  From my experience Half Note FAILS at the door!

Have been to Half Note on 2 seperate occasions, both on a Friday Night. They normally have a live band thats pretty good for the $10.00 cover charge. Seating is a little limited, so plan on standing for most of the night. Did not try the food, but the drinks are average. The crowd is usually 35 and over, a good way to avoid the riff raff that goes down at other  local clubs. Overall, a descent spot for a fun night out enjoying live music.

I went to this place on Saturday night and I have to say it was very nice. The band was great and the place was real lively. Plenty of nice looking women too! The only negative thing was there were no tables available for us to sit down and enjoy dinner, which was the main reason we came. Standing room only! Of course we didn't realize this until AFTER we paid the $10 cover charge.  Management should make it a policy to inform guest of this fact BEFORE they enter! All and all a great place to go though.

Well, I evidently had a great experience at my recent visits to the Half Note. I ended up there for a birthday party on a Thursday night - and even though the service was spotty (the place was jumpin) - the food was good, the band (Bryan Mills and Secret Society) was HOTT and got our dance on, seems like the dance floor might be a new addition from everything else I've read.

Then, the very next Sunday - I was back for another birthday party..only this time it was brunch. I have to say,  that the brunch food was better than dinner, and cheaper as well as it was an all you can eat buffet. I was blissfully happy to see crab legs, Parmesan crusted tilapia, wild rice, fried chicken, a dessert table and other real lunch goodies in addition to the traditional breakfast fare. This time our service was spot on. One waitress was completely devoted to our party (which was pretty large). Now the only thing that could have made that perfect would have been a small jazz band or something of that nature.

I'm diggin' the Half Note. Based on my couple of experiences.. I'd definitely try it again.

After visiting half note several times this year, I've always like the live entertainment and food, however the management sucks.  One day they will realize that they would make more money if they weren't so greedy!  Nice place, bad business.  A small salad and a glass of wine for $40?  And they charge a cover for eating patrons and women?
Half note management stop being so greedy and you will make more $$.  I see why the management & wait staff changes so frequently and owner if you read this, having empty bottle services tables after a certain time is pretentious and is bad money sense when their are standing patrons that would like to eat and sit down.
Greed gets you no where, good hospitality gets you everywhere... i.e. expansion, more establishments and repeat satisfied customers.

I've been to Half Note Lounge on several occasions during the week for karaoke and it was nice.  I just visited again on 10/31/09 for my birthday weekend with an out of town friend and we had the time of our life.

The atmosphere was great, the food superb, the drinks were nice, the waitress we had was AWESOME and made our time there very relaxing as she went above and beyond to ensure we were taken care of.  It doesn't have a dance floor, but we created our own in the "Private Room" where there are lounge chairs and sofas.

The band of the night was "Styles" and they were awesome and my girlfriend from Chi-town was really impressed as was I. I will be visiting again and looking forward to the next time.

This place is not worth your time. This spot must be cursed. When it was Reggies it was the nonservice and the good prices and not its the service good prices crazy!

I paid almost 20 for a patron magarita! They upcharged me on EVERYTHING and didn't seem to care. Of course people of 21 want liquor better than smirnoff or beefeater! They don't throw anything in or make you want to come back for more. I was there on a 1/2 wine night and it was empty. I think they get you in once and you don't go back becuase they have rapped you in the price!

I saw if you just need a drink, go next door to Graces. Or just go in the city, not that far.

This place is GREAT! It opened in the Novemeber/December 2008 time frame, a group of 7 of us went  and I believe it was opening weekend becuase it was packed. When I walked in to the restaurant my jaws dropped becuase I couldnt believe how nicely the place was redesigned and decorated.  Half Note is the same location as the old Reggies Sportz Cafe.

Decor:  Half Note has a very contempoary, swanky vibe. I didnt feel like I was in Bowie anymore. I felt like I was either in Downtown DC or on vacation at a popular nigth spot!

Food:  Since it was opening weekend the menu was semi limted but I'm sure it has expanded since then.  Everything looked great.  I had a sampling of everything since our group was so large.  My favorites were the Jerk Chicken Wings, Catfish Fingers (these were so good, I orded my own plate in additon), Chicken Ceaser  Salad,  and Shrimp Cocktail was really fresh.   The desserts looked great as well but didnt have room to try any of them.

Entertainment: To be honest I am not a Jazz fan but my firends were, so I was just going along b/c this was a new place to try.  Well was I surprised. I dont remember the name of the band, but I believe its a band that will frequent the club a lot or the house band when they dont have special guests appeeraing.  They were really good.  They did a lot of covers which I liked.

Overall this is a great place to meet up with friends for drinks or have a nice dinner and appetizers. I believe Half Note will become a Bowie HotSpot!! I will defintely frequent  this spot more often.
