A caveat: I've never stayed here overnight. Â The following is a review of the restaurant only.
I've never had anything but an enjoyable time here. Â I've been to the Hamilton Inn with friends a few times, with my boyfriend once, and with a large group of Maroon-News editors at least six times. Â The decor is always beautiful, the food is always terrific, and the service is always spot-on. Â 'Course, it's somewhat pricey (be prepared to spend in the neighborhood of $25-$30 or more per person), but you definitely get what you pay for. Â This truly is the best Hamilton has to offer. Â Not to be missed!
I was a dumb college kid, too, once. It was Valentine's Day, or some other such contrivance early on the calendar of a Spring month, and my then-girlfriend pouted and wept  until I told her that it did not matter than I would have to spend the bulk of the remainder of my small and hard won monthly stipend to do so, but I would take her to the Hamilton Inn.
I believe I had a cheeseburger, or something similar. If I remember correctly, she insisted on dessert.
I felt like an adult that night, too, but not for the imagining of what adulthood could be like but rather for the realization of what adulthood often is: being manipulated, and unappreciated, and made to realize that your best will never be good enough.
Before I learned I knew next to nothing about romance, I had a wonderful and romantic dinner here. The fire was roaring and the restaurant, which occupies the first floor of this quaint inn, was quiet. It was a Thursday night. The slightly better than average shrimp bisque and rasberry chicken were enhanced by the aura of civility and tranquility. For a (I now realize) dumb college kid, this was a chance to feel like an adult. Nonetheless, it was sweet and precious. I never stayed here, but would make this my destination of choice when I next return to old Hamilton.
