I'm so mad I've never walked into this place before. Â I guess I was intimated by the seemingly outer dive-bar facade but don't let it fool you. Â This place is fairly impressive on the inside! Â A definite location for future Sunday NFL games for me and the hubs! Â There are TV's everywhere you look! Â They're completely stocked with a full bar and drink prices are excellent...seems to be common in these parts! Â The thing that impressed me the most was the menu!! Â SUSHI! Salads, pasta, fresh fish and much more! Â It's not a run-of-the-mill place for this area which makes it a shining star in my eyes!
I only stopped in for a beer and appetizer while waiting on things so I didn't partake in a meal so keep in mind, this review is based soley on atmosphere and "happy hour" type stuff but overall I was extremely impressed. Â I ordered the potstickers which I hadn't had in FORever and the were soooooo good!!! Â Nicely fried up, crispy with a great inside. Â Pretty sure they're the same ones I used to get at Costco, but so what!
They also have a fairly extensive list of sushi rolls; some traditional, some not so traditional. Â They're a bit pricey for what I'm used to but I think that is normal for the midwest. Â Accessible fresh sushi fish is hard to come by.
The only reason I'm lacking a star is because the service was awkward. Â I was sitting at the bar by myself and none of the bartenders talked to me till the very end of my stay but a few people came in and sat down and it seemed the entire restaurant came over to chat with them. Â I was sitting one seat down so I feel like a 3rd wheel. Â Just note: Â its for locals! Â Regardless..I will be back for sure! Â Also...seems they're a late night weekend hot spot with dancing, bands, karaoke, etc. Â The pictures on their website prove that much! Â Good job Hammerheads!
As a sports bar or late night place to drink, this place does well. Â But for food, it's definitely more suited as a burger/fries place than a sushi/seafood place (based on my only visit). Â That said, I'd still give it another shot.
We had friends who got the Honolulu Chicken and they raved about it. Â I got the seared Ahi tuna and it was ice cold in the middle- must have been thrown on the grill frozen. Â I told the waitress and she took it back and stuck it in the microwave... yikes.
