We should of just stayed home and youtube to sing-a-long instead of going to a karaoke room where we can't find the songs we wanted to sing to! We went during their happy hour ($12/Person + 1 complimentary drink) and you can sing from 2:30pm-7:30pm. There were 4 of us so it turned out to be $48 + tax, + 10% tips). I've been to better karaoke place at a cheaper price with better amendities.

This place lack song selections (some songs were not working properly), the room smelled like cigarette (when there's a no smoking sign in the room), so I don't know where it came from. In the middle of singing, all of a sudden one microphone stopped working and we had to tell them to change it.

Although they had a big screen t.v., a touch screen song selector, and a pretty spacious small room... the quality is not that great in terms of amenities in a karaoke place.

I had a very disappointing experience here. Not quiet sure how the systems were set up but searching for songs in the system is like navigating through a confusing maze. Many songs, especially English songs are not alphabetically organized. Further, 2 of 3 microphones in the room cased to work. It was extremely difficult to change audio settings as well. Good song selection and quality audio are basically the foundation of a good KTV place. Happy KTV did so poorly on both. I wouldn't come here again.

There's no books/remote here for ordering so basically only 1 person can get songs at a time using the monitor... which, is in simplified Chinese!  So not only is it difficult to read for non-mainland people, the interface of their system sucks too.

    Poor music selection.

The sound is also messed up... we had to constantly adjust the volume from song to song.

Ok, now for a 2012 review, since all of the bad reviews are from 2011 and prior. Yes, they now have a flat screen TV and a new touch screen for song selection.

My friend lives in the area and loves to come here all the time. $15 per person during happy hour (I think from 2:30 to 8pm) plus 1 free drink each is awesome. (I ordered the hot tea w/ milk, which tastes good.) The new screen they have for song selection is great too. You can put a song to play next even if it's 13th on the list (so everyone gets a turn even if one person enters a bunch at once in the queue as they are waiting). The downside is the words on the screen are in Chinese. A few English words so that is a bit helpful. I read a bit of Chinese so I'm fine. A friend who doesn't read Chinese could get by also. Overall, the system is easy to use.

English songs are limited, but still enough. (Can't believe they have "Back to December" by Taylor Swift", so that was fun to sing.) Even if you can't find it under the artist's name, you can still search up the song title and it may appear as a various artist or something. On most of the songs, you get to see the real music video, which is great. I didn't get to browse the Chinese selection this time, but I'm sure it's pretty extensive.

The sound system is decent. Those who are complaining probably can't sing, so if you can carry a tune you'll enjoy this place. You can change the volume of the music, so the it doesn't overpower your voice. The volume/echo of the mic is perfect.

Parking is plenty. You can have parties here. The nicest karaoke place I've been to is Palm Tree LA in KTown and the crapiest I've been to is Max Karaoke in JTown (several years ago), so this place is in the middle. It's clean and decent. I would definitely come back again during happy hour.

I went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't busy. I hope this review doesn't make it too busy (enough to keep the business going) and that they don't raise the price too fast.

Another downside is that sometimes when people smoke in the main entrance, you can kinda smell it (because we were in a room near the front). People are not allowed to smoke within a certain distance from any building entrance, so there should be a sign posted somewhere outside to remind them. (Or maybe they were smoking in the rooms. That should be a huge no no.)

This review is for the small room. We only had 4 people and it was perfect.  I've been in the large room before (and it is pretty big), but I can't remember much from it because it was years ago.

Minus one star either for the limited English songs or the cigarettes I smell from outside somewhere.

OMG, where the heck do I even begin with this place?

Came because it was completely full at Energy and we were all wanting to karaoke so bad. We thought of "Happy KTV" and the stupid sign outside that says this place is really happy. The minute we stepped into the place, we felt like a part of us died.

Four of us and we easily got a room. The lady gave us the first room, which clearly had a no smoking sign outside. My goodness, that room smelled like a sleazy Motel6 Smoking Room. It was so bad that we requested for our rooms to be changed. Got another one, it wasn't AS bad, but it still smelled like sleazy motel rooms.

Finally onto the system and the TECHNOLOGY of this place. What decade are we in? Why is the TV still this big ol chunky machine? Ever heard of flat screens? The TV resolution itself is so poor. It's way too pixel-y and the karaoke system itself needs to be updated. The song list is ridiculous. Practically everything is from the early 2000's and before that. There's nothing newer. Also, the organization of the system is really bad. I'm used to finding the artist either by popularity or by their last name. This one is all over the place! It takes ages for me to find an artist, especially in Chinese!

How sanitary is this place? Gross. If health inspections came around to this place, I'd say, instant shut down. The mic caps they have, which should be changed every time someone new uses the mic, is super old. The microphone itself is really sticky and there are a bunch of used tissues on the shelf under the table. So gross.

For $12 for happy hour and a free drink, this place blows. The drink blows too. Everything about this place blows. I'd rather sit and wait till there's a room open at Energy than come here again.

It's been years since I've been to a karaoke shop, but the format is still the same. Small, dark rooms with spinning disco balls and overpriced menu items (i.e. $5 for an OJ). Still, it's a fun venue and I had a good time relaxing and unwinding at week's end. It's open super late and definitely makes for a secluded getaway whether you want it to be or not (zero phone reception inside).

Not the greatest karaoke spot. It was expensive. It cost $30 or $35/hour for a small room, everyone had to buy a drink, and there was a 10% mandatory tip (for no service). The people working there didn't have the greatest attitude. The system was difficult to use. I wished there were books for us to look through. The walls are quite thin. But it is the only karaoke place nearby. If you can go somewhere else, do it!

Not a bad place given where it's located. The place can use a bit of remodeling. The service is eh ok, don't expect 5 star service here. One of the downside is that the walls are thin, and people can see into the rooms easily. If you just want a place to hangout and chill this is an ok spot. If you want to go all out and have the cool effects and sound system go to Ktown like Bobos or somewhere around that area.

NOT so happy KTV. I would never come back.

The girl at the front desk is a total bitch and needs a HUGE attitude check. My mom says "She probably can't help it, maybe she was born with a sour face like that." So basically, service sucks.

The TV is OLD, fuzzy and outdated. Songs and music videos are not that updated compared to other ktv places. You can only pick songs with a remote so only one person at a time AND their system SUCKS!! It is not really user friendly and SOO not what I'm used to (other ktv places you can search by word stroke or have lists of popular and top songs... This place does NOT... So lame)

This place is outdated. Don't go- unless you're desperate. I wouldn't even wanna go for $12 happy hour AYCS (Including 1 drink) cuz it's not even worth that price.

Bye bye... I will go somewhere else and be happy!

    this place suuuucks...
1-the hallways are way too bright and the windows to the rooms let too much light in
2-it was way too cold in there despite the fact that I was wearing a jacket
3-they don't serve alcohol AND they force you to buy a drink
4-they have no song books, it's all electronic so only one person can look for songs at one time
5-they're waaay to expensive for a place that doesn't even have alcohol or an adequate song selection

    never coming here again

Out of all the karaoke places I've been too, this place is the worst one. Terrible english selection of songs and the ones that they did have, a majority of them were chinatown ripoff versions. Nothing else to say since we didn't stay too long because they close pretty darn early. 1AM. Not that we would have stayed any longer anyways...

I've always passed this place when bowling at Action Lanes but never thought about actually singing here since I've always been kind of self-conscious.  I remember going in once to check out the prices and thinking it was a bit pricey just to sit in a room and sing, when I can do that for free in my bathroom.

However, after some old high school friends invited me out, it was hard to say no.  I'd only gone karaoking once before in Little Tokyo and had a good time, so why not?  There was six of us, so we got a large room in the back.  One drink (ranging from water to juice to tea) was included and it came around to $15/person, from 5:30 to 8 pm.  I was a bit disappointed that there was no alcohol.

They have a good selection of American, Taiwanese, Chinese, Korean, Indonesian, Filipino, etc. songs.  However, not as large as some of the karaoke joints in Little Tokyo or K-Town.  Still, because it's so close to home and convenient, I would definitely go back.  It's a fun place to go before or after bowling at Action Lanes next door and spend time with friends.

I like to sing and it's cool to have a sparkly disco ball in your room but it's totally unnecessary.  What's more important is the song collection and the audio/video equipment.  I think a lot of places have LCD/plasma TVs now but Happy is not one of them.  They still use old-school big screen TVs.  The resolution just didn't seem as high as other places.  We went to Happy instead of Energy because my friend said that the songs here were better.  That turned out not to be true.

I guess I'm comparing Happy to other places in the SGV as well as KTV places I've been to in Asia.  It's just really lacking in ambiance and technology. None of those places have sound-proof rooms either but I could clearly hear people a few doors down from us sing every single Jay Chou song ever released for hours.  It was like a Jay Chou concert...except that they sounded terrible.

For Happy Hour, it was only $15 per person (after tax and tip) including a beverage.  Because it was so cheap and I did have a good time (which can be attributed to the people I went with), Happy KTV deserves 3 stars.  If I had to pay full price at night, I would rather go to a nicer place.

First of all, I'll try to be fair with this KTV review, because I've never been big on KTV, I only go since everybody else wants to go. My first impression when coming here was "damn it's kind of empty." Well we went there for happy hour at like 3:00, so that's probably the reason.

For a place called "Happy KTV" the people working there didn't look very happy. I don't think that I ever saw them smile or laugh, they just seemed annoyed.

The room that we got was pretty big, we had a group of 7 people and we had plenty of room to stretch out and even add probably 5 more people if we needed to.

Since it was happy hour, I believe we each got a free drink, maybe they do that all the time, not sure. The drink that i got was ice tea with milk, which was actually decent. I was expecting it to be horrible. The down fall of their drinks is that it's super expensive. Everything was $4.95 from what i remember, even a cup of Orange Juice.

One thing that I hear that a lot of people disliking about this place is that they don't allow alcohol here. Not sure why they don't allow it since it makes everybody have more fun when singing. Maybe they haven't gotten their liqueur license yet?

There are three main items in each room, a TV, a disco ball and a electronic screen to enter songs. Their TV that they use are a decent size, not too small and not too big. Disco ball was pretty cool, gives the room that extra "flavor" i guess, nothing super special but still it's better than nothing. The screen to input songs, was decent.

One thing I don't like about having one screen to input songs into, is that you have to look up songs through it, which doesn't allow multiple people to look up songs they want to sing, which slows down the process a little bit.

The songs selections are kind of limited. They mostly have older songs, nothing really new. It's kind of hard to find songs, but not impossible. One thing I was impressed with was their variety of languages you can choose from.

You could sing songs in (Picture): Mandarin, Cantonese, Taiwanese, PuTongHua, English, Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, Philippinese, Indonesian, Thailand, Malaysian, Italy, HaGa, and Chao.

When it was time to leave, I wasn't sure what happened, but I thought we were suppose to pay $12.00 a person but some how we paid $15.00 a person. Maybe they included tax and tip?  didn't want to argue with anybody so i just paid $15.00.

Over all this place to me is just average nothing special. For me, I wouldn't come here again, only because I'm not big on KTV. As for recommending this place to my friends, i might, but probably not on the top of my list of places to go.

    Juicy KTV in the sgv

Best ktv in the sgv area. I enjoy going to this ktv because it's convenient and they have new English and Chinese songs. The service is great and the place is clean and nice. It is in a plaza with bowling and restaurants so you don't have to drive around everywhere. This place opens late so you can always come here after a night out or just to relax. Usually my friends and I go bowling (eat and drink there)and then go to Happy Ktv after for some after hours HAPPY TIME.

I've been to Happy KTV several times and the only reason is because I haven't found any that are much better.  You'd figure that in an area with so many Asians that there would be plenty of KTV places and that they look nice.  However, this is not the case, and Happy KTV is no exception.

But I'm not saying Happy KTV is bad either.

Happy KTV has decent sized rooms.  Like most other KTV places, they provide different sized rooms depending on your party.

The songs are mainly Chinese, with some popular English songs and some Japanese, Korean, Vietnamese, etc.

They do not serve alcohol beverages, but if you don't mind walking a little, you can go to the bowling alley in the same plaza, drink a little, then walk your way over to Happy KTV for some drunk karaoke fun.

Although they don't serve alcoholic drinks, you can always walk next door to the Action Lanes Bowling alley, drink up a few drinks and go back to Happy KTV.   If you don't mind driving out to the KTV's in Jtown and Ktown; they have alcohol licenses and you can drink while you sing.  But for the SGV it's impossible to get an alcohol license for a KTV.  So I don't mind staying in the SGV driving 5-10 minutes to the KTV, not having to worry about parking, and walking a few seconds to the bowling alley for drinks.

I've got to say that the speakers and mics for this KTV are of better quality than the ones in Ktown or some of the other Chinese KTVs.  And although some of the karaoke videos may be cheesy; at least there are pictures and not just a blue screen with white lyrics.  We always find the videos quite comedically entertaining.

All in all, my friends and I always have a good time at Happy KTV. The owners are always smiling when greeting us too. Can't always say that about the staff, but smile or no smile, they act fast when you press the service button leaving more efficient time left for singing.

It would not be fair to compare this place to anything in Taiwan.  They're just in different leagues.  So I'll try to be as fair as I can.

Yes, no alcohol is a big problem.  And we know that it's not impossible to get an alcohol license because every Korean karaoke place and most Japanese places has one.

Song selection is okay.  The one time I went was with my American friends and it was English songs all night, you really should work on how you put your selection of songs in order, because the alphabetical order you have in now is not very alphabetical.  It took us more time to find a song (or to realize that the song is not available) than actually singing it.

Pricing is okay.  Can't complain here since we're in the SGV and things are naturally cheaper than West LA or Downtown.

I haven't tried the other Chinese places around.  Maybe the others will be worse and will in turn make Happy KTV the default winner.  We'll see.

    1) No alcohol allowed
    2) Not very good selection of songs
    3) Expensive and over priced!
    3) horrible service!!! they kept coming into our room asking for the bill when we have a huge group and were trying to figure out the price.  grumpy and annoying people!

    never coming back again

Happy KTV, one of my favorite hangout with a group of friends in the SGV.  Located in a fairly deserted mall with a Lollipop and BofA, it's probably the best KTV I've been to outside of Taiwan.

Anyways, I'm not sure about the prices after Happy Hour, but you can't go wrong with the Happy Hour prices (Daily, 2:30pm-7:30pm) at $12/pp, and after tax and tip, it's about $15/person.  The variety of songs is better than K100 in Monterey Park as it has more of the new songs.  I think the atmosphere is better as well.  Now, the people that work there can be at bit grouchy, but whatever, I think it's like that with all KTVs out there.  I liked it better than K100 also because K100 always wants us to pay for 6 people even though sometimes we only have 4 or 5.  What a ripoff!  The Happy Hour minimums here I believe are 3 for weekdays and 4 for weekends. Come on, why would you go to KTV with less than 4 people anyways??

If you go on a weekend, make sure you call the day before for reservations, as the reason I've had to hit up K100 last time is due to the packed house here on the weekends.  The parking lot has plenty of spots, so sing the night away!
