I came here on a Saturday afternoon with my Dad based on the all the good reviews on Yelp. Â The place was empty. Â Usually when I see a restaurant completely empty I will turn around and go somewhere else, but the reviews is what brought me here.
The service was, of course, excellent since we were the only table. Â We ordered the kung pao chicken and the ma po tofu and they were both delicious. The chicken was tender and cooked perfectly. Â The ma po tofu also had the right amount of flavor and the tofu actually tastes really fresh which is something I've never tasted before at other restaurants. Â The prices were average, reasonable.
A+++++++. Would eat here again.
I checked out this restaurant after reading all the good reviews on Yelp.
The dining room is small, cozy and the owners are friendly. Â The tea was hot, just the way it should be. Â I like 'hot teas', even when they are 'not tea'! ;-)
The rice was robust and nicely cooked. Â I noticed that they get more take-out orders than dine-in customers.
Overall, I would give the food 3.5 stars.
I tried five dishes:
1) Â Sliced Lamb with Green Onion- Â This dish was very good. Â Thin slices of lamb stir fried with green onions and garlic. Â Great flavor and the semi fatty pieces of lamb had a nice texture. Â 4.5 stars.
2) Â Fish with Hot Bean Sauce- Â This dish was okay. Â Â I usually like the garlic, bean, chilli, and wine flavor. Â I thought that the wine was a bit overwhelming and there was just too much liquid in the sauce. Â If the sauce had less water, it would have tasted more pungent like I've experienced at another restaurant. Â I liked that the fish fillets were delicately cooked. Â 3 stars.
3) Â Clams with Basil Leaves- Â I felt the same way as I do about the fish with hot bean sauce. Â Too much liquid in the sauce, which diluted the flavor of the dish. 3 stars.
4) Â Mongolian Beef- Â Standard mongolian beef stir fry with lots of green onions. Â I like hot sauteed green onions so 3.5 stars.
5) Â Chicken Fried Noodles- Â I requested for crispy noodles and got yellow noodles stir fried with cabbage, onions, and cubes of chicken. Â I like the cubes of chicken since they were fresh and flavorful. Â The noodle was nice and chewy. Â I prefer crispier noodles, but overall, it was a decent dish. Â 3.5 stars.
It may take a few tries to determine which dish is your favorite. Â I think the dry, stir fried dishes are a good start. Â Happy dish hunting!
