  Happy Wok is the place to go for a quick Chinese meal. It's not at all fancy, but the food is quite tasty. The atmosphere isn't up to the standard set by Tao Chen's a few hundred yards away in the same parking lot, but that doesn't matter when the food arrives. It's also perfect for take-out. While most of their offerings are very good, but not something to get really excited about, their egg foo yung is exquisite.

  If you're smart you'd go to Tao chens across from this place. This is like fast food Chinese crap and it isn't real it's all thawed

  One of the better chinese restaurants in the area. However, if you have ever had true, authentic Chinese, you would realize how Americanized this style of food, at most restaurants, has become.  Ignorance is bliss right!
  
  Give it a shot, shouldn't be disappointed.

  Wow, color me surprised with Happy Wok!  This whole time I dismissed it as a dive inferior to Tao Chen right across the street, but that really isn't the case.  Happy Wok is standard American Chinese food, but it is done well.  
  
  If you are getting dinner for two people or more (or even just for 1 person it might work out), you should def get the Family Dinner.  You get soup, several appetizers, and an entree for less than how much getting them all separately would cost, and you get a ton of food too.  Anyway, eggrolls and crab rangoon were just okay, but sesame chicken and beef chow mei fun were good.  I really liked their hot and sour soup.  Lots of the vegetable ingredients seemed quite fresh, and the flavor and spicy level was very good.  Service was also very friendly and good.  Also, I really liked that among the other condiments on the tables, they had a thing of duck sauce.
  
  Anyway, there's like two Chinese food places in Chesterton, so you can't say there's a ton of options, but Happy Wok is a decent one.

  I only came here because Tao Chen's was closing and Happy Wok is open until 10pm on week nights.  The fact they are open this late is the reason they didn't get two stars.  This is your basic Chinese place that is in anywhere USA.  Good egg rolls, rangoon, and plain rice.  The American-Chinese staples seemed on point like their sesame chicken.  However, if you order outside the box be cautious.  I really like how they have duck sauce on the table, thats awesome.  You can make any dish spicy upon request, also awesome.. though it seemed like spicy at the Happy Wok meant add more white pepper!  My hot and sour soup as well as my szechuan chicken had too much white pepper and they just had such a "barnyard" quality on the back of the palate.  Further on the hot and sour soup, there were significant button mushrooms tossed in at the end of the dish, they had great texture and mushroomy flavor but overwhelming for the soup; the soup should be named mushroom-barnyard delight.  I would honestly never go back as long as Tao Chen is open just 200 feet away.

  Happy Wok in Chesterton is very consistent, and the staff are super nice... seems to be a father, son and daughter, and they're always pleasant.  They'll make pretty much anything special you ask for, and provide extra sauce, etc. with a happy attitude. The veggies are always fresh and never soggy... the only thing that I would avoid is the fried rice (that variety that's just yellow-stained rice with no eggs or veggies or seasoning).  I can't honestly say whether it's super authentic, as I've never been to China, but it sure is good!
