I made the mistake of taking my family in there for lunch and I will never go back. We were seated and it was 45 minuets before the waiter even batted an eye at us so we just walked out. If you are hungry do not go here try the thai place up the street. It looks like are teenagers are running this place.
Review Source:Would rate zero if possible. We sat down and were asked what we wanted to drink, we tried to order 2 different beers yet both were out. That is ridiculous from a place with a full bar.
My parents ordered the rack of lamb special which was just mediocre. My brother ordered the shrimp with prosciutto pasta which was flavorless and missing the prosciutto. I ordered the penne with vodka sauce. It was salty and also missing the prosciutto that was supposed to be in it. I think the best thing we got was the water and the best part of the night was leaving.
Some advice, when your friends insist on going to the harbor side, keep your head on a swivel. Â A constant state of a pending bar fight make this place uncomfortable. Â
On the three occasions I have been there it was a weird mix of Whisky Tango, meat heads and folks who weren't good enough to the get into the copper canyon across the street.
Never had the food, but wasn't really tempted by the stuff I saw.
Don't bother ! We went earlier this evening for dinner for the first time. Sat outside, nice outdoor area, ordered our food after a 10 minute wait for the waiter who did apologize and let us know he was really busy, okay no big deal. Ordered our food ... Burgers and a wrap and waited and waited and waited 1 1/2 hours later still no food just promises of any minute. When we inquired an hour into the wait we were told that the head chef had gotten married that night and had 3 of the kitchen guys with him at the wedding therefore they were short staffed ... If that's even true congrats to him but we won't be back. Can't speak about the food ... after an hour and a half we finally left the money for the drinks on the table and left .... Wound up at a little pizza place not far away and ate there. Not quite the evening we were planning. Don't waste your time!
Review Source:Had lunch here the other day with a number of colleagues. I had a fillet of flounder sandwich for $9 that was not as good as a fillet-o-fish at Mac's! Come on... a shore town restaurant.
Our server was pleasant but service was spotty.
I do love the atmosphere. Kind of old line men's club. up to and including the fake elephant head. For food , I'll keep looking!
We were a table of 4 last night. When we arrived the bar was busy and the hostess was very sweet. However, one server bust in front of us to grab the hostess' ear and continued to audibly complain about a customer who was sitting at the wrong table and wouldn't move. The content of the conversation was unprofessional enough, let alone doing it directly in front of us and not even acknowledging we were there.
Our server was great and very attentive. My rating is more reserved for the content of the menu and the quality of the food. We had a spinach salad w/ goat cheese (which was good but way over-dressed), a butternut squash ravioli (which was good), a short-rib and mashed sweet-potato special (which was average), amongst some other appetizers and sides. The food in general wasn't bad. However, it was just very average.
The highlight of the experience was definitely our server, which is why I'm rating it 3 stars instead of 2. Probably wouldn't go back.
My friends and I often meet here for a glass of wine and it is always pleasant, friendly, and quick. Â I don't know what the person was doing who felt like they had to watch their back, but perhaps it was them, not the restaurant! Â The food here is usually very good, sometimes great and sometimes just ok. Â But, if you're from Atlantic Highlands like I am, this is the hometown place to go. Â You're almost sure to run into someone you know and when I'm there I just feel comfortable and at home.
Review Source:My boyfriend and I ate and had a quick drink here the night before thanksgiving. Â As it was the night before a holiday, I'm thinking the chef was M.I.A. Â I ordered the steamed mussels with a glass of white wine. Â The murky grey liquid they were served in looked strangely like dish water. Â After tasting it, I wasn't entirely sure it wasn't dish water.
I was really disappointed as I had eaten here on a late sunday afternoon 2 years ago and thought my meal was enjoyable. Â
And I totally agree with the previous commentor, watch your back. Â While I'm not a local to the atlantic highlands, I have lived in the general area for some time. Â I most certainly did not feel welcome and my boyfriend even remarked on the "rough" crowd that night. Â
I will not be giving this place another shot.
I haven't eaten the food. I've been here for a drink.
Let's just say that you can come here for a drink with your friends and talk and enjoy yourself. But be aware that if you bump in to someone or look at someone in the eye they might punch you in the face. It's a Jersey thing. I can't explain it. Just watch your back.
