You can order from the simple Harry's menu or the Malone's menu. You can also request free bread...the butter is unlike any other. The Lexingtonian is the best bottomless salad in Lexington. You can substitute the salad for fries. The Harry's mini burgers are the best thing on the Harry's menu. They also offer a free shuttle you pick up and drop off as long as you're within 15 minutes driving distance...after 6PM just call them and they will connect you with the driver and he will be there to pick you up within minutes. I have never had to wait over 15 minutes for him to arrive.
Review Source:Went here on a recommendation from a customer. What an outstanding, upscale outdoor bar dining experience!
Stone and brass accents everywhere along with lots of flat screen TVs. Service is top notch, and the food is phenomenal. I had the sliders and a few Bourbon Barrel aged beers (highly recommended, but go easy - they're over 8%) which was a great combination.
Smells from the kitchen and the overall atmosphere make this a great overall experience.
We were in a hurry and the waitress was really helpful by hurrying our order. I had the California Cobb salad, and it was by far the best Cobb salad I've had at a restaurant. Great, deep green lettuce and fresh ingredients, including the avocado. I would go again. We were in a hurry to catch a flight so didn't spend that long at the place, but it was a fun atmosphere too!
Review Source:This place only gets 3 stars because there were a few complaints I had. But first the good:
Easy parking, always a plus.
Great patio! It's covered so you're out of the elements (though idk what it will be like in a downpour). It's one of those you're outside but you feel like you're inside deals which I dig. And you can smoke there. Not that you should smoke. Smoking is bad kids. BUT. If you should happen to enjoy a cigarette with your alcoholic beverage of choice, the option is there.
Anyway.
I thought the service was fine. My roommate thought the beer service was kind of slow. I guess it was pretty average. They did bring our food out really fast which I appreciated. At a lot of bars it takes waaaaaay too long for food to arrive.
The beer list was pretty decent and the prices weren't bad. Food wasn't too expensive either. For $30 I got a mini platter of cheeseburgers, a salmon salad (which I took home for later, I can't eat THAT much), and two beers.
So definitely not CHEAP but for two entrees and two drinks that's really not all bad.
You can also order food from Malone's next door which I hear is pretty good...slightly finer dining.
But then the bad stuff:
First...I was kind of unimpressed by the food. My cheeseburgers were really well done and the waitress never asked me how I wanted them cooked. I do NOT like things well done. I'm more of a fresh off the cow and still mooing kid of a gal.
The salad was pretty uninteresting. By "uninteresting" I mean it came with: lettuce, a hunk of salmon, and dressing. I haven't ever eaten salmon in a restaurant that I like so I didn't have high expectations. But it really wasn't bad for grilled salmon. I guess that's a check in the plus column for them.
They also have heat lamps over all the tables which I guess is great in the winter...they did turn em on about 30 minutes before we left (around 8:30)- which I guess would be fine if it was cold, but it was freakin 70 degrees! I know some restaurants turn up the lights to get their customers to ship on out, perhaps this is their version? Either way, I'm not down with being toasted out of my seat :/
Oh and on a personal note...there were no backs on the benches (which were otherwise oversized and really cool). I broke my back a few years ago and sitting for long periods of time on chairs/benches without a back is problematic after a while. This isn't going to apply to most people obviously but if you're a princess like me who needs proper lumbar support, you ain't gonna get it here.
Now that I've made it seem terrible, it really wasn't that bad.
I really loved the overall feel of the place. It's definitely a place to go with your friends...the setup does not really allow for you to socialize with your neighbors...but I'd totally come here with a group of friends for some drinks if I wanted somewhere a little nicer to go.
Harry's at Hamburg is adjacent to (and affiliated with) Malone's, a popular Lexington restaurant known for its steaks. On a Saturday evening last fall, even at an early hour there was already a wait for Malone's, so we were pleased to discover that Harry's & Malone's share a kitchen and you can order from either menu.
Although Harry's has more of a bar-like feel, it is richly decorated and classy. We had a couple of drinks and an appetizer, followed by steak and fish entrees. Both entrees were accompanied by a delicious (and sizeable) salad and additional side dish. We were pleased with both the quality of the food and the service. Highly recommend!
