I visited this restaurant for the first time after a few years and was pleasantly surprised by the updated decor. My wife and I sat down to a menu filled with great West Indian dishes.

She had the sweet and sour jerk chicken, which was exquisite. And I had the stew snapper, which was ok.

All in all, if you're in the area, pay this restaurant a visit. The prices are a bit high but portion sizes (because of the rice) are pretty large.

The location is quite small for large groups ... very intimate.

Its with a heavy heart I give this place a bad review. I was excited when I found out about Henricas. A Restaurant that will deliver to my home and its not Chinese food. Three times I ordered for delivery and all times I received subpar or horrible food. I was very surprised to see such good ratings on yelp for this place. But when I saw who was actually leaving reviews I realize they probably just don't know better. If you are West Indian and actually know what what West Indian cuisine is suppose to taste like, DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE!!!
The soups are bland and greasy, the ribs are drenched in sauce to the point you think you're having sauce with a side of ribs, chicken chop suey was bland chicken with broccoli and partially cooked carrots, no bok choy whatsoever. The prices a tad bit high but not as expensive as some places (genesis on hillside ave). Definitely not worth the food they're serving. Even the dog never want the food we didn't eat. If all you eat is chicken wing and fried rice and not used to good food, then you can follow the other reviews and eat at Henricas. But if you still have taste senses in your taste buds, save yourself time and money and go somewhere else. If I dare say it, even golden crust food might be better then this place....yuck!

I have passed by this place several times and had no idea this was a restaurant.  I went here for the Brunch on Easter Sunday.  I am a fan of fusion food with Caribbean/Asian influences. I must say, I am happy I went.  Although it was busy, the live entertainment was soothing.  My guy and  I were seated right away.  Although there were alot of selections to choose from on the buffet, I must say I was surprised to see crab at the buffet.  You wont  see crab at at a buffet.

Although I liked everything I put on my plate (curry goat, jerk chicken, lo mien, whiting) I mostly enjoyed the chicken Alfredo and the sweet and sour salmon the most. The fruit punch was really good. I will be making more trips to Henricas when I am in Queens.

Unlike other Caribbean restaurants I have been to, I must compliment the staff at Henricas for being very attentive to me and my guy.  What I liked most was one of the ladies (she has dreads) came over to over table and told us if we wanted to hear a particular song to be sang, to request it.

Good vibes.  Will check out karaoke night soon.

TIP:   Find out if they're having a religious banquet before you make a reservation.

Other than the disruption, of the church banquet, the food was good.   I will say, if you end up going with a large group, and intend to pay individually. work that out before hand.   Breaking it up at the end was not well done.

The food was very good, I wouldn't call it expensive though.

When i used to eat meat, my FAVORITE food in the whole entire world was oxtail (Jamaican style). Me and my bf literally searched every Jamaican restaurant throughout four boroughs until we stumbled upon this one just a few blocks away from his house. He didn't think any of the Jamaican restaurants in the area would live up to our standards of what we consider to be the best tasting oxtail, let alone a place called Henricas (sounds Spanish) that serves Jamaican and Chinese food (go figure). Henricas (formerly known as "Nagasaki" according to his mother) has the most tender oxtails in this succulent, rich, brown gravy, with the most perfect cooked rice, peas, and plantains. I've also had the pig tails with kidney bean soup, brown stewed chicken, red snapper, and chicken soup; all delicious. i would return for their seafood, but a fire has caused Henricas to temporarily be closed.

Some advice for when they do reopen...if your doing take out (which we did 99% of the time) CALL IN ADVANCE! They make the food fresh, it takes the same amount of time to dine in as it does to take out, so order over the phone. If you do decide to dine in, you get salad and soup with your dinner. i think it becomes a little lounge at night with live performers, and i have seen the bar which is decorated in a nice way, but the restaurant itself was kinda peaceful and quiet with soothing reggae playing. I'm so surprised that i am the second person to write a review for Henricas spot is truly a hidden gem!

It's Sunday afternoon and I've been editing & writing since Saturday.  My daughters are both at their school's performance (thank God for Charter Schools...keeps them productively busy), and I am famished beyond reason (could be because I spent the healing hours...10 pm - 6 am the human body repairs & recuperates from previous day's stresses....puking out my dinner and molesting my toilet bowl :( ).
As my remaining Qi (vital bio-energy) warns..."get your shite together & refuel or you going down...YOU HEAR ME? U GOES DOWN".  At this point, it only makes sense to want to be able to enjoy the fuel, as much as possible.  In fact, I contemplated cooking, only go get slapped by Qi ..."Look what U mek me do...now why u want to cook, huh? U need energy, chica..." I realized that my soul (Shen) craved uniqueness; it lavishes comfort, exquisiteness, intimacy & reminiscence of home or happier times (only this would quench the beast.  The Islands...The West Indies..."Yeah Mon, No Problem"...  Ahh, the good life!

My desire kicks into overdrive and now I am in desperate need of bliss.  I immediately contact my critic in crime (mainly because I don't eat meat & let's just say they eat EVERYTHING *smh*) and we agreed on Henrica's, formerly Nakisaki.

The setting was very mellow...it felt homey.  The patrons were very family oriented (Sunday? Hmmm...Church, doh!), moms, dads, babies, toddlers to teens, yet it wasn't crowded...

The rapid response of the host - to seat you & introduce the ambiance Henrica's hope to deliver, was comforting, especially since Qi had me by the throat...

"Buffet or Menu?" speaks our host.  "Menus would be appreciated, but buffet you say?" Where, I continue to ask...as we are then directed to a room set in the back of the restaurant... scented with Caribbean delights.  And that's when it happened. Without any warnings, Qi & Shen both froze.  The glee in my innocent child-like eyes glimmered blindingly.  As the serenade I have somehow come to visualize wound down in my head, I flashed back to reality (my host was no longer propelling my raft down the river, in Jamaica, in a loin cloth). I watched in invigorated amazement as to what laid before me.  It was like a menu sample sale.

The selections literally encompassed the menu choices.  This Greatness is available on Friday's & Sunday's for only $13.50 per person, "all you can eat (nyam)".  And boy did my partner nyam...from curry goat, oxtail, stew fish/chicken, Baked Mac & Cheese (Qi fave so I killed it), Lo Mein, fruit salad, potato/macaroni salads, pepper shrimp (he was very barbaric at this point, "like baby"...), jerk chicken/pork, even cow foot (which he claims is "Gum-Nyummy") - I can go on, but let's be serious...they had it.  As we piled on our selections & returned to our booth...my first taste led me back to Nah Lingah by the Sea, in Jamaica - a cozy shack set along Negril 7 mile beaches.  I felt the same quaintness...and again, I sat before that beautifully blue ocean...Oh, yes...it existed again! Ahh...Mission Bliss, a huge success!
